RP: YSS Genesis [Episode 3] Frozen Wranglers

Amethyst grunted a little as she crawled her way back, giving a quick glance back to see if Yoko was still in her tracks.
After they got out of tunnels, Amethyst stood up and stretched out nice and slowly before nodding at Yoko as she continued detailing their objective.

Yoko said:
"We'ah gonna check the ones in hea first, then the ones outside. Any questions?" the Geshrin asked Amethyst.

"Well, I've not suited up very often... guess you could help me a little there?-- But let's just start with everything we can do inside the ship" she added quickly.

Mako quickly acknowledged Shinon's order to get closer, then boosted the thrust her suit was producing. with the added speed she shot ahead and raced into the dust cloud around the water rock. ever scanning for a target fix as she went, her hope was that he could get a target lock and pass it on to the rest of the shooters.

Medicinal goods and toiletries accounted for, Rüd ensured they found their way to the appropriate storage sites. He returned to the hangar bay watch and await the results of the powered armor team having no other pressing matters to attend.

Bridge

The trip had been a quiet one, but not unnerving to Lina like she probably would've been had she been a newly fresh soldier. She wasn't a fresh soldier, so walking with someone who was rather quiet didn't rattle her in the least, she was used to it - although she didn't like it - she preferred company and socializing over the dead silence.

When she stepped onto the bridge she found herself caught off guard by just how different it was. She was rather used to the bridges the Army used because that's where she spent the majority of her time due to her occupation, but this one? It was different, not the kind of style she had expected nor thought the ship would have.

"Neat..." she muttered to herself and gave a nod of approval, it might've been different, but that was actually something that really didn't bother her - it surprised her - but didn't bother her.

It took her a moment to look around, before she found the princess standing there. "Ahh!" she said, somewhat excitedly, and gave a deep bow to the princess.

After arriving and making sure the medical items were indeed onboard the supply shuttle, Evelyn had quickly returned to the medical bay to organize and store the new items. Now finished, she returned to the hangar bay.

Curious to see another Abwehran, she approached Rüd and decided to introduce herself. "Guten tag," she said. "I have the strange feeling that I'm repeating myself, but I am the medic aboard the Genesis. I was surprised to see other Abwehrans here... Did you have prior service?"

Spencer's inventory of the medical supplies was kept to a minimum for the moment. Such stocks were typically fluid and always changing, so Spencer tried to concentrate on the solid numbers first. This method lead him into the Engineering section. Inside the engine room, he kept his eyes on the datapad and belted with a sinister tone, "Quartermaster's Inspection! Hide the whiskey still and put back the stolen tools fer just a moment, kiddies. I ain't in the mood to write no reports."

Rüd's neck swiveled at the sound of his native tongue, and his eyes locked onto Evelyn. "Ja, though it depends on how you define prior service. The majority of my work experience is in the tumultuous field of freelance contracting," which was his clever way of saying mercenary work. "Decided I wanted a more stable means of seeing the galaxy without sacrificing work perks. Origin Security was a perfect fit. Only downside is these ugly suits." He rolled his shoulders and glanced down at the uniform as if to verify that was, in fact, still ugly.

It was.

"Ich heisse Rüd." He proffered his lower right arm to shake.

The head engineer came out of the maintenance way in a hurry.

"C'mon! We's don't wanna hold up those guys and goils out theas," she exclaimed, making her way out of the machine shop as quickly as possible. "Tha two anchah points are right in the hanga, one poat, one stah-boad but still in between the two airlocks - it's these big giant metal support structyah things going from top to bottom," Yoko started to explain to Amethyst. "It's pretty much parta the superstructyah; otherwise, it won't be any bit strong, yaknow? Just check for cracks and stuff in the special paint - it does that as the metal gets stressed and stuff you sees,"

As the two exited the machine shop, Yoko went off in a slightly different direction, heading straight for the airlocks themselves. "Gotta get us some suits, you can look ovah that youaself, yeah?"

Within engineering, sensors monitoring some of the ships vital systems began to ping off, one of the sensors was reporting a malfunction in the ships shield generators while another pegged a power regulation error.

As the group of armors moved closer in to the Comet, their sensors becoame much more obscured; Now they were not only obscured against the comet, but from anything outside of the debris cloud that was smaller than a starship. The sheer number of particles, and the random nature of their path obscured most anything, and the fact that the comet itself was not significantly different in temperature from space made it difficult to track anything, even with the PAWN's Sensor capability.

Shinon would, however, get a message, from the Genesis itself.
"Your suit informs me that you are concerned about the sensor capabilities. When we are done with this mission, would you like me to ask the head engineer to adjust their settings?"

After that message, Shinon got another, from Shimei-Hei. "Hey, Hey, Shinon-Boss! I gotta lock on a nice big chunk of it, on the upper left side! You want me to try the harpoon?"

************

"Oh, Hello. I mean, Umm. At ease, ma'am." Rikou greeted Lina, bowing herself, before righting and giving the newcomer a wave. "I apologize that we had to leave before you could arrive, but we've been put on a schedule. I am Ketsurui Rikou, but you can just call me Rikou. We're a bit informal on this ship, I've learned, as it's a mix of Civilian and military sailors."

Shinon listened to transmission and smiled. Good to know there were paying attention to what was going on outside. She was worried about suits sensors, but if sensors fail you still have eyes and ears. That was another good advice from her father.

"THank you, I would appreciate it. If you want I will accompany you to the chief engineer, it is more of my responsibility after all.

She sended a message and then heard Shimei-hei with report. Shinon-boss? Thinking about it, the neko sounded slightly different outside in the field. She was more confident it seemed. It also meant that at least comms were okay.

"Feel free to test it out!" Shinon replied. "No one said we cannot go twice. Have your back cover you, while you aim. Everybody status report!" She than said, wanting a roll call from anyone.

Lina blinked in slight confusion, calling a princess by her first name?, that certainly was an informal way of doing things and not something she would get used to anything time to. "Umm, y-yes ma'am," she said.

She stood there for a moment in thought, then said. "Ah! My manners, my name is Lina Yusentia."

As I currently have no body aside from the ship itself, I do not believe I will be able to accompany you, Maverick-Shoi, However, I will be sure to inform the Head Engineer soon.
The Genesis responded, as if to make sure things were clear.

***************

"Welcome Lina, make yourself at home!" Rikou responded, smiling at the suddenly flustered neko. "Could you remind me of what your occupation is, and then I will hand you over to Mister Larai, The Taii, here, so that you may begin your duties."

When his name was called, Seth, whom had been hanging back to observe Rikou's performance, nodded, stepping forward so that Lina knew who he was.

"Ah! I'm a starship operator," the Neko said a bit nervously, Lina had hoped to come onboard without any fear of meeting the princess; but that got blown to pieces right quick. "Thank you ma'am."

Shotjon said:
"Everybody status report!"

"Mako here, Heading at the rock as quickly as I can, I'm not far out now"

She kept trying to get a fix on a target point of the rock. She was sweating under her armor, not from heat just nerves of wanting to get the op done and doing it correctly. She tightened her grip on the railgun and tried to sight a fix again.

"Ah! Nice to meet you, Rüd! Ich bin Evelyn Fritz." She shook the offered hand. "Do you think there's anything I should be doing right now? I know all the medical supplies are out of here, but maybe there's something I can do to help you all."

As the head engineer opened up the locker, her eyes settled on the contents with anticipation, which quickly turned into shocked disdain. "Aw hell, AMES suits? I knew we got the goils from the Stah Army hea, but I didn't think we'd have thea stuffs too," she sourly remarked. Despite her initial reaction however, Yoko slowed down to eyeball the suit she was holding in her hands.

I guess I'd look sorta pretty in it...ok, OK! I'll just pretend I'm cosplayin!

Within engineering, sensors monitoring some of the ships vital systems began to ping off, one of the sensors was reporting a malfunction in the ships shield generators while another pegged a power regulation error.
At that, Yoko was running out of the airlock inside an AMES, the second suit clutched in her arms. "Shit, Amnythist! We gots trouble," she yelled out to the other engineer from inside her suit, voice muffled. "The shields are malfunctioning, but ignoah that - thea's a power reg problem!" the engineer explained, tossing the junior engineer the suit before making her way back into the are they just finished up with previously

Meanwhile, Yoko's clothing sat in the floor of the airlock in a puddle.

"Here! and good!" Shimei called, taking careful aim at the exposed patch of comet.

"Status normal!" Kin called out, and similar responses could be had from Sinclair and Tamari, as well as Nova.

The reports finished, Shimei pulled the trigger of her modified Gauss-rifle cum Harpoon-Launcher. The harpoon flew out with a swiftness, pulling the lead-line out with such ferocity that it actually countered the recoil, but the forward pull of the line stopped as the harpoon hit something. "I've hit something! Let me go and see if it's in good!" she called.

Mako's Suit was still unable to get a fix, so instead it started doing some predictions as to where the Comet would be- not difficult, given its size, but they could not exactly tell the makeup of the surface proper from where they were. Instead of a single definite fix, it gave the PA pilot three points where it predicted there would be a solid enough hold for the harpoon to work.

Shinon had to smile as Mako called about hurrying forward. "Now, now Tani-hei, this is no race. Be careful." She said as she herself moved forward, making sure to maintain visual on Tani. She listened to chatter and smiled when Shimei got solid hit.

"Okay Kazako-hei, be careful." She said and then added. "Sinclair-hei, keep an eye on her. I don't want anyone to be hit by chunk of ice. Not to mention I never heard anything good about the surface of the comet."

"Ah, good. Starship Operators are good to have when you're operating a Starship. I'm one by training, myself, though somebody decided to put me in a crash course for captainship!" Rikou responded to Lina, with a bit of a Giggle. "However, I think Mister Larai, Or should I say for your sake, The Taii here, is ready to speak with you about your assignment." the young Ketsurui motioned toward her instructor and Executive officer, who stepped forward and cleared his throat politely.

"Ah, yes. Currently we only have newer operators aboard the ship, so we need a guiding hand for them, as well as someone who can be counted on to operate any of the command stations at need." Seth explained, motioning to the Bridge which, as Lina had noted earlier, was not exactly a standard Star Army Bridge. "You will find the stations operate the same as those of KZ make, although the layout and position of them is slightly different. It should not take long to get used to."
