SANDRA Fort Victory to Become Headquarters for Star Army Reserve

Kyoto, Yamatai--The Star Army announced in their press briefing today that the role of historic military base Fort Victory, also nicknamed “Boot Camp Alpha," will be changing its core functions from primarily being a basic training center for new Star Army recruits and clones to a headquarters for the Star Army Reserve as well as a central regional reserve center.

After the end of the Kuvexian War in YE 43, the recovering Star Army began a large scale reorganization of fleets and personnel to switch to a peace-time configuration and to make updates that were not feasible in the midst of conflict. Many of its most experienced soldiers had been killed off forever in the Third Battle Of Nataria or were leaving the Star Army. The Star Army needed a way to retain some of its battle-hardened, combat-tested soldiers while at the same time reducing the costs and size of the Star Army for the sake of efficiency. The solution was to create a new reserve force where soldiers were able to live a civilian life but were still trained and available to call up for action in the event of a major war.

In 3月 YE 43, Hisae Emiko became the first Taisho to take command of the Star Army reserve.

Fort Victory was originally an old fortified spaceport that was part of Uesureyan Fields. When Geshrin military forces were consolidated into the Star Army of Yamatai in YE 21, Star Army forces re-purposed the fort as a training camp for new recruits. Several annexes were added over the years, mainly additional dormitories and training facilities.

The fort served in this capacity until YE 25, when it incorporated into the city plans as Kyoto was being designed. The entire fort was relocated to the outskirts Kyoto after construction of the new capitol was complete. It is now located in the Military District of Kyoto--the megacity's western portion containing numerous military facilities such as Star Army Headquarters.

Taisho Ketsurui-Shinjuku Hanako, Director of Star Army Personnel, said that the primary reason for this change is that the fort's proximity to the Kyoto Megacity means it's close to where most Star Army reserve soldiers reside. Indeed, over 80% of them live in Kyoto, mostly in government-provided apartments.
