I see your point. But keep in mind that if you create a new item for an existing company, you don't have to make a new company. It's kind of like attaching a puzzle piece to the already finished part of the puzzle. In a way the RP favors connections to the existing canon. Also, you can get away with a lot of you stay generic. For example, if you say your character has a shotgun, no one bats an eye. If you say your character has a TX-113 Plasma Shotgun suddenly everyone wants a wiki page for that to exist because it's a named item.
