Holiday Wishes While Vet Causes Vat of Bats to Collapse in Kyoto Micro Apartment!

The icy, frosted over, and beautiful Kikyo flower of The Yamatai Interstellar News Network bloomed in a brand new Year-End Traditions themed opening sequence. During a twirl of the flower, a colony of snowflakes drifted down from the top of the screen until evanescing. There was a passing of several small starships and then a larger Plumeria-class gunship flew through the screen and behind the purple flower that now was the centerpiece for the acronym, YINN. Then, it faded to show the clean cut and rather sharp-looking studio.

"Good evening and thank you for viewing," said the ginger-haired newscaster at the studio's large desk. "There have been a few murmurings and whispers about who and what will be showing up at the International Relations Conference of YE 40! More on that after our main news report! We have news of a veteran of a Star Army of Yamatai being involved in the collapse of a vat of bats in a micro apartment in Kyoto today! Cassandra Roberts is on the scene!"

"Yes, we have here," the newscaster said as the news show moved to her location, "a grand number of bats that have been released from a micro apartment in the center of Kyoto and it is causing mass hysteria!!" She pointed to the trees nearby which were thick with the black cocoon-like hanging parcels. As she did, a spotlight was trained on them and dozens if not hundreds of eyes opened and shone out of the tree before instantaneously, the mass of the bats moved from the tree. They echoed and reflected one another's movement as they combed their way through the air directly above the on-the-scene camera crew.

The news caster, Cassandra, was screaming in a shrill, whistley sound as the camera dropped to the ground and showed he ankles and heels as she ran in circles, screaming in incoherent words before the camera cut and after a blank black screen, the news show returned to the studio.

"Ah... Ahem," said the ginger apprentice newscaster. She then went on, "In other —safer— news... The Xiulurian diplomat Sachiko has been seen preparing Yamatai for the festivities of the end of the year by lighting the largest Yule Tide Tree the orphan city of Tsubomi has ever seen! She is working alongside Father Yule, of course! "

The studio cut to the city proper of Tsubomi in between wards 1 and 2 that showed the silver-haired and kimono-clad diplomat volunteering with children as she hung ornaments on the coniferous and astoundingly large tree. She smiled and spoke kindly while Father Yule nearby was boisterous and overly emphatic with his gestures and gutteral noises. Lights twinkled and illuminated Sachiko's luminescent cyan eyes and the joyed expressions of the orphan children around her. The air was frigid and the soft exhalations of laughter at something Sachiko had said to a few children were seen as puffs of warm, white air. Meanwhile, a kawaii petting zoo was packed with children looking to pet a fluffy friend. There was a lack of adults in the scene, save for Sachiko and Father Yule.

"From YINN to you," said the red-head as the viewership once again saw her in the studio. "Happy Holidays and please do enjoy your Year-End Traditions, Yamatai!"
