Asher looked around at the other two Yamataians who came over to their group. He arched a brow, but chuckled as they both voiced their concern.

"Eh, nothin' but what a little medical science can't cure." Asher grinned to the both of them, but then looked back at Yoroko who seemed to be slipping to the ground. The Hei's face dissolved into concern as he bent over and put a hand back on her shoulder.

"Uh, y'sure thass' all thass' hurtin' ya? Tha' seems a lil' bad f'r a hangover." Asher sent to Yoroko.

Miyoko, never much of a heavy drinker, had avoided a hangover this morning. For once, she managed to get out of bed in less than half an hour. She dressed slowly and, noticing the datapad Sanjuro had given her, clipped it to her belt. The sight of it made her cringe, as she just knew that the medical officer was going to interrogate her to see if she'd read any of the texts--and, of course, she hadn't. As the party petered out, she'd taken a quick shower and then gone to sleep.

The gift from Yukari was met with quite a bit less apprehension. After straightening her hair out some--she really did have to remember to not go to sleep with wet hair anymore--she slid the band into her hair, instructing it to display fluffy clouds slowly drifting through a blue sky. It was rather appropriate, gven her mood. The levity of the party had more than compensated for the bad news and Sanjuro's snub, leaving Miyoko fairly cheerful.

There was still the matter of getting revenge on Sanjuro, but that could wait. A dish best served cold and all of that. Besides, she'd never been much of a planner anyway. It was best to wait until an opportunity arose and then kick him while he was down.

After a few minutes of lazing around her room, Miyoko finally wandered into the wardroom. She knew from experience that breakfast likely wasn't prepared yet, but she was awake and she didn't really need to bathe, so all there was left to do was kill time until it the meal was served. She took up position on a couch, idly leafing through the books on the datapad Sanjuro had given her, seeing if there was anything on there that wasn't a total insult to her intelligence.

Yukari brought up the profile of Hasegawa Sumaru first.

" ... A male Samurai. I did not realize that was possible. ... And he trained under Midori-dono. But his training is that of a power armor pilot. He appears to be a most-headstrong individual." She looked at Kotori through the window, moving a lock of hair from her face with a sweep of her hand. "I cannot appropriately judge Hasegawa-Juni without speaking to him in person. But his motives appear very honorable ... which worries me. Our missions and training have stressed actual success, not ethical victory. He will have to understand this.

" ... His service record shows he was on two vessels that were destroyed, captained by the Hime-sama. It is difficult to know how his Yamataian mind was affected by those disasters. Westwood-Hei has had acceptable behavior insofar, but it is clear that he utilizes bravado to mask his emotions. ... How would this Hasegawa-Juni handle it?"

She studied his bio picture for a few seconds more, then went back to the actual letter he sent. "He does not mention asking you, nor the Shoi Kohosei, about his desires. But if the Taisho-sama and Ketsurui-sama tell us he is ours, I do not see how we can refuse."

She turned to Murasaki Aoiko's bio. " ... She is almost a — I believe the Nepleslian word is 'misfit.' She has nearly been alive as long as I, and has only recently participated in shipboard missions. The 5th Expeditionary Fleet, back to SAINT briefly, aboard the YSS Amaya for a briefer time, and now she languishes without assignment.

"She is a librarian — in a O-Samurai's body?! She is NH-27, and before that, NH-17. She has not ever been NH-29 ... that suggests she is not willing to relinquish her capacity to do intimate violence. Her training suggests this as well. We could, perhaps, have use for such a fighter. But one NH-27 is enough ... she is not a Samurai. Her skills are limited ... " Yukari manipulated the window to bring up other portions of her record. "But she is a qualified fighter, if unacquainted with combat. She would likely be welcome by Kurohoshi-Juni."

Yukari went back to the main bio. "Her rank ... it puts her in an undesirable position. We have no place to put her. Can she be trusted with our overarching assignment? We do not know what her motives are, besides finding our assignment 'a worthy task.' She is nearly as veteran as I am. It worries me she does not seem to take our assignment seriously."

She rubbed her neck; she was missing Tom's ribbon, which was on the dresser. She had taken it off last night before bed to avoid dirtying it. "I do not believe we can know, for certain, what they will be like without meeting them. But my recommendation is an administrative demotion for Murasaki-Chui to Shoi, until we can sort out her position and duties. It does not appear she accepts pay, but if she desires it, I will pay the difference in salary myself."

She brought one of the windows down with a finger curled over the top, and looked at Kotori. "I am sorry, Taisa ... I have spoken out-of-turn. I did not intend to lecture you."

Sanjuro didn't take notice to the other two arrivals at his workplace's front door, instead choosing to focus his attention on the previous two. He exchanged a few glances between then, his ever-impossible-to-read face darting, as if searching.

"I see. Excuse me, but I assumed that was what happened when two members of the opposite sex consume copious amounts of alcohol. I do not approve of this, for this very reason... but very well," Sanjuro said, turning around to enter the medical bay. "Come in and sit down."

---

Not surprisingly, Sanjuro's datapad and its layout were organized to the letter. The medical officer had apparently taken the time to relocate everything he deemed unnecessary from the datapad before relinquishing it to Miyoko, as the main screen hold only the basics; Applications, Mail, and a folder smack in the center, blinking every so often, title clear as day against the off-white background:

DOCUMENTS YOU NEED TO READ

Miyoko's suspicions would be quickly confirmed were she to swiftly browse through the first few folders, which was comprised of little more than the most basic of texts, news and magazine articles, grade-school level information tables, manuals for beginner medical and sensor specialization, as well as several volumes from the "A Complete Moron's Guide to..." series. The texts didn't increase in usefulness until folder eleven.

Sanjuro had also found it prudent to add notes for the application of each text. Leafing over a few of the notes produced suggestions on how she should accomplish her job as the sensor specialist on-board the Miharu, proper nurse etiquette, grooming herself and organizing her clothing. The notes also had dates...future dates. Apparently, he wanted these texts read by certain time limits as well. Sanjuro never wrote anything directly insulting or revealing, of course...but he was still giving her very detailed, subtle suggestions on how she should organize her unmentionables drawer.

To credit Sanjuro, many of the final folders did hold some interesting, useful reads.

The 'Mail' folder on the main screen was also blinking periodically.

Nyton finished his own washing, redressed in his yukata, and hurried back his quarters. After dressing himself partially he brought up a volumetric window with kimono styles available in the stores planetside. As he perused the styles he opened up his case with his personal belongings. Among them were devices that he had not used since he had last been living on Nepleslia. Most of them were oriented towards anti-personnel actions but having been mostly involved with Armor combat there had not been much purpose for them.

As Nyton examined his holsters and sheaths he tried to analyze which style of kimono would hide the weapons best. At the most he was looking for a simple payload of three pistols and two hidden knives. As a deterrent he would carry his personalized GP-12 and twin kodachi. Once he had his layout planned he began putting it into motion and await Kotori's summons.

Kotori waved Yukari's apology away; she was smiling. "I unofficiously asked for your opinion and I got it. I believe your words were well spoken." The Taisa gave her hair a few more strokes of the brush as she added: "I'm not too concerned with the apparent lack of context the two have with this assignment. Even if they have learned of it, the measures we've taken in the past to allow us to act covertly likely are the result of that."

The 'scritch scritch' song of bristles against hair stopped and Kotori eyed her executive officer. "I was thinking - after what you said - that I could extend a summon meant so that you could interview them. I trust implicitly in your judgment regarding new personnel and I would trust upon you the duty of determining wether they have a place here or not. Should they rise to your expectations, you could unveil to them the stakes of our current assignment as well as enforce the adjustments required for them to have a place amongst our crew."

Sora entered the showers in relative silence as she set her things down into one of the containers in the dressing area and undressing before meandering over to the actual shower area. She started into her showering routine reflecting inwardly on how she could get herself through her personal issues...

Yukari nodded and stood. Watching Kotori brush her hair so made her wish for her own brush; her hair needed it desperately, though it required washing even more. "I will require the Shoi Kohosei's presence, to fully vet Hasegawa-Juni, and I wish to have Saito-Hei accompany me as my assistant. If this is acceptable, I can contact them directly and save you the trouble, Taisa. I am especially curious about this Murasaki-Chui; having Saito-Hei with me will give me a second brain to analyze her."

"Good. I'll leave it to you then," Kotori nodded in approval and sent Miharu a request to forward the content of the displayed volumetric windows to Yukari's inbox. Both volumetric windows closed. "Why not send a summon for them this afternoon so you'll have more time with Tom this morning? Nyton and I will be heading downplanet for a bit so I needed to talk this over with you before I left, but you don't absolutely have to get to this right away."

Yukari shook her head. "Duty first," she said. "Tom will likely prepare to go to Ralt, and I will meet him there, or at my home near Port Xenn. I will see him before I leave."

She paused for a moment. "I will need to borrow Black 2 for this meeting, as I no longer have access to Hrist."

"Of course, though we have only two shuttles so if anyone wants to do something downplanet, they'll be contingented," Kotori answered. "Mind you, we're only stopping for the day. I mean to get on with things tomorrow once the Pelican is done with our ship."

"Thank you, Taisa. I will inform Traffic Control to provide a shuttle temporarily to the ship for pick up of other crew."

When Kotori gave her approval, ending formalities were exchanged, and Yukari left to arrange things. Her first order of business was to send a quick message to Miyoko.

Yukari said:
Saito-Hei:

Two new individuals are applying to become a part of our crew. I must travel to the planet to interview them personally, and would appreciate your perspectives. Please prepare yourself; we must be ready within 30 minutes. — Suzuka
Slipping into her room, she snatched up most of what she needed to get clean. It would be the showers today. As she scrubbed and attempted to put herself in some kind of formal order, she wrote a message to Sora ...

... And another to her lover.

Yukari was clean and dry as she left the showers with about 20 minutes left since she had messaged Miyoko. She slipped quietly into her room, donned her skirt uniform and sidearm, dried her hair enough to use her ribbon around the tip of a braided ponytail, and slipped on her boots. She bent down into the pit and gave Tom a kiss on his forehead, then went toward the shuttle bay.

Black 2 was ready by the time she arrived.

Yukari's interruption was well-timed, since it kept Miyoko from flying off the handle and introducing Sanjuro to an airlock once she'd gotten a better idea of his opinion of her intelligence by leafing through the datapad. She tucked it away reluctantly, making a mental note to herself to really crush him when she finally got around to it.

There wasn't a ton for her to do before she was ready for duty, but she'd be damned if she was going on a trip of unspecified length without eating first. She snuck into the kitchen and quickly scarfed down a rather large bowl of cereal... making certain that nobody saw her in the process, since it would probably draw unflattering comparisons to Mara's eating habits. At least Mara could have enthusiasm when she ate this stuff.

Her rather quick breakfast led her to arrive at the shuttle bay a few minutes before Yukari; she spend the waiting time decidedly not looking at the datapad.

Yukari motioned to Miyoko, who was close enough to the shuttle. "Saito-Hei; it is good to see you be so prompt!" She bowed slightly to the Neko, then noticed the movement in her hair. "Ah — aiyaa, so pretty, Saito-Hei! You will blend in well with the skies of Yamatai."

Sora was in the middle of her daily cleansing routine when she received Yukari's message and she smiled brightly for the first time all morning, Sumaru had done it. She quickly finished the rest of her shampooing, rinsing and such before she finished up and hurried to get herself dressed and ready before the shuttle left.

Yoroko stood up and stumbled over to sit down where Sanjuro had indicated. "Thank you, Ashitaka-Heisho." Yoroko mumbled as she entered the room and plopped down where Sanjuro had indicated. As she sat Yoroko placed her head against the wall, feeling it's coolness as her brain continued to pound against the insides of her skull. Great....more people. Yoroko groaned silently.

"Alright, less' hurry up n'-Ugh..." Asher said, giving way for a second to put a hand on his head. "Damn, less' really hurry up."

The Hei walked in and sat next to Yoroko on the table indicated. He rubbed his forehead, Suprisin', my weakest part'a tha' body is mah' brain. Asher though.

Yukari saw Sora appear after a moment or two of chatting with Miyoko. She bowed to the princess. "Good morning, Shoi Kohosei. Now that you are present, we shall depart immediately. The Taisa has informed me we have but one day of shoreleave, so let us be done with this business as quickly as possible."

With that, she boarded the shuttle and took the pilot's seat. "Miharu, prepare bay platform to drop and let us out." The two Neko had already entered the shuttle, with Sora taking the secondary seat, and Miyoko riding on one of the folding seats in the forward cabin. "Miharu, this is Black 2. We are departing now. Please inform Traffic Control to send a spare shuttle up to you, to help transport others. Ask them to send the shuttle unpiloted, as a security precaution."

A volumetric window appeared before Yukari as she attached her seat's harness over herself; it was Hinoto, whose snowy white hair hair was swept across her forehead and into a small bun behind her head. "Acknowledged, Shosa-san," Hinoto said softly. "Message sent. ... Traffic Control acknowledges and agrees, Shosa-san."

"Acknowledged." Yukari said as the view they had of the interior of their vessel gave way to empty space. The shuttle slid forward and away from the ship, and made a lazy turn toward the mostly-white celestial orb that was Yamatai. Yukari eased the throttle forward, and away they were.

Sora, Miyoko and Yukari continued in Kyoto: Interview with a Neko(s)

Sort of getting an answer, Kai watched as Asher and Yoroko walked into the med bay, each holding their heads. "PPPFFTTT" he snorted at their predicament "Had a bit too much last night, girls?" he said, in a teasing tone of voice, knowing full well Asher was male. He walked away from the med bay to his room, chuckling to himself and feeling a lot better than he had the day before.

Asher held his head closely as he finally started to wake up to his pain. The Hei struggled to keep a straight face as it stabbed against the edges of his mind.

"PPPFFTTT" he snorted at their predicament "Had a bit too much last night, girls?"

It was evident that a vein had popped up on Asher's head, and the Itto-Hei's face was evidently red. Asher looked up at Kai as the Santo-Hei exited the door, he made snarling face and grunted angrily.

So, tha' skinny bastard thinks he's funny? Argh... Heh heh, we'll see how funny he is when I- UGH..." Asher held his hand over his forehead.

"Fuckin, shit, bastard..." Asher cursed under his breath.
