Yoshiko gently sat her datapad onto the table in front of her. She was pleased with the results of her interview with Red, and next was an interview with Nekki Shin. Yoshiko sighed softly, unsure of how the interview would go. It looks like he has some rough history. Yoshiko thought while she scanned back over Shin's file. Regardless, he could be what I'm looking for. Yoshiko thought before signalling the gaurds to admit Shin into the room and picking up the datapad one last time.

The walls of the room were gray in color, with lamps spaced every 2 feet about halfway up the walls projecting light both up and down against the wall. In the center of the room was a 14 person oval table, at the head of which sat Yoshida a white-haired, golden-eyed Nekovalkyrja. The chairs were nice office chairs, the kind you could roll around and swivel in. "Nekki-Hei. Please take a seat." Yoshiko said without glancing up from the pad as Shin entered the room.

Shin walked into the room, his wrists bound together, but luckily the guards had decided to keep them infront of him, rather than painfully have them behind him. His normally defiant appearance was still there, though there was a hint of defeatism in his step. The dye had come out of his hair, and it had grown a bit longer now. He spoke up, his voice slightly low. "You wanted to see me, Yoshiko-Shosa?" He sat down, making eye contact and trying not to blink.

Yoshiko glanced up at Shin, "Yes. I'm here to offer you a temporary position aboard my ship. This is an interview to determine whether or not you'll be a good fit for the position." Yoshiko returned her attention to the pad where she finished looking at the Hei's record as well as available history. After a few seconds Yoshiko set the pad down and looked at Shin. "Let's just get this done with first, since it's probably going to be the most unpleasant part of the interview. I've looked over your service record, but I want to hear your explanation."

"I have no explanation that will make me seem like any less of a bad guy. I got in over my head, and became cocky, thinking that I could do anything I wanted. Though, calling my captain up on her affair with her second in command while I was still in trouble might've been a bad idea. Nonetheless, I comitted my crime, was denied my promotion and my recognition, and I deserved that. Nothing more can be said, Maam."

"And the suicide attempt?" Yoshiko asked as she stared at the Yamataian. "I believe there were a few of those attempts no? Reports indicate that you attempted suicide in the incident between yourself and the then Nito-Hei Hoshitomo Rin, as well as when you fought your ship's captain. According to your former commanding officer's report you tried to get the captain, Taisa Shizuka Endo, to kill you.

Shin shook his head. "Oh no. By the time the captain tried to kill me, i had been talked out of trying to kill myself by Shifuda-Heisho. I merely acted in self defense against the captain."

Yoshiko didn't comment on Shin's response, instead she moved on. "What are your opinions on body transfers Nekki-Hei?" Yoshiko asked as she glanced down at the datapad again. This was a fairly standard question for her line of work, not that Shin would know exactly what that was yet.

Shin leaned backward as well and smiled, trying his best to mimic Yoshiko's posture, and failing. "Just a few personel reasons. I've thought them over, and dropped them. Combat efficiency is more important to me."

"I see. This will sound kind of odd..." Yoshiko paused before readjusting herself and leaning slightly forward. "How do you feel about Nekos?" Yoshiko sat in such a way that she would be unable to reach or even get near Shin in order to make him feel more comfortable answering the question in any way he felt like.

"Oh, well." Shin sat up straight, thinking. "Well, unlike some of my yamataian and geshrin peers, I have no feelings on Neko's one way or the other. It depends on each individual."

Yoshiko nodded, before continuing. "Let's change subjects again then. What exactly do you want to accomplish inside the Star Army?" Yoshiko sat back in her chair again, this time her arms fell onto her armrests. "Do you have any plans for retirement?"

Shin thought more, with a loud, over exaggerated HMMMM coming from him. "Well, I don't have any plans for retirement at the moment. I do want to become the best soldier in the Star Army, Ma'am. Other than that, I got nothing." Shin shrugged. "Oh, at the moment, I want to get out of this damn prison! Endo-Taisa, And I loathe to call her that, Broke my damn ribs and Jaw, and refused to allow me proper medical treatment. I need to get out of that damn cell, and doing some physical activity before I get all stiff and loose that edge!"

Yoshiko found Shin's response interesting. "So tell me, what does it mean to be the best soldier in the Star Army?" Yoshiko asked as she looked at Shin. "I mean, what is your picture of the 'best soldier'?" Yoshiko gently pushed the datapad off to her left side as she asked this and leaned forward onto the table, creating a pyramid with her hands and elbows.

Shin pullled at the bindings restraining his hands and arms. "It's being able to not only be one of the best fighters in existence, It's also never backing down from a fight, unless backing down is the better option. It's like, being able to read the tide of battle and change it."

Yoshiko stood up and started to pace around the table. "I see. How do you feel about non-combat roles like starship operations, engineering, medical and science positions, or technical sentry work?" Yoshiko's boots could be clearly heard clicking against the ground as she walked around the table, just underneath the volume of her voice.

"Those roles are not my speciality, though if I had to, I would try my best to excel at them."

Yoshiko finally came up to Shin. "Very well, that concludes this portion of the interview. The guards will escort you to a rec room where the second part is set up and waiting for you." Yoshiko said as the guards came forward to escort Shin.

"Yes maam." Shin stood up, attempting to salute but failed, instead just bowing to the captain. He smiled, and turned to the guards. "Let's go then, shall we?"

The rec room wasn't too far from where the interview had taken place. As the door slid open the only thing that would be visible to Shin was a wooden table with a lamp hanging over it, casting it's light upon the small structure. On top of the table lay a NSP as well as a datapad. Once Shin was inside the door, the guards undid Shin's cuffs and exited the room, the door dissapearing in their wake.

Shin rubbed at his wrists, stretching for a few seconds before picking up the NSP and checking it out, then cautiously picking up the datapad and looking at it.

The pad sprang to life in front of Shin's eyes. It started reading it's contents aloud. "Nito-Hei Nekki Shin. This simulation is the second part of your interview." came a computerized voice, "You and a fellow member of the Star Army have discovered a known terrorist inside of Yamataian space. You and your friend have been instructed to monitor David Hughes's" when the datapad reached this point an image popped up on the screen of David, he was a Yamataian with blond hair, blue eyes, and about an average height and build. "movements until appropriate Star Army personel arrive, at which point they will capture him at this location:" Instantly an image of where the capture was to take place popped up on the display.

"You've been watching David for three days now, rotating shifts with your partner James Sanchez.", another image this time of James appeared on screen. James looked like an average Yamataian as well, though he had crisp low cut black hair and black eyes. "It is now your shift." As the voice finished talking the datapad dissolved from view and the world suddenly altered itself. Now Shin was standing in a trashy hotel room, across the street was David's house.

Shin quickly let the information sink in, before getting a hold of his surroundings and looking out the window, NSP in hand but hidden out of sight.

"I'm heading out to get some food, is there anything you want?" James asked from a side room as he looked out the window toward David's house. Throughout the hotel room, fastfood bags were visible,it was clear that they had been living off of quick meals from local fast food chains for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Shin was focused on observation at the moment, mostly looking out the window. "Noodles. Lime Shrimp. Thank you."

"I haven't seen lime shrimp in a while, but I'll take a look and see what I can find." James said as he left. Moments later the hotel room door could be heard shutting in the background. Meanwhile David's house was mostly quiet, it seemed that whatever David was doing he was doing it away from windows.

Shin continued watching the house, staying mostly motionless, keeping his breathing low.

Nearly twenty minutes had passed before there was finally activity at David's house. David came out his front door and started walking toward the heart of the city, almost five minutes away on foot. It seemed like he was just a normal person going out for a walk, but occasionally he'd speed up his walking speed before slowing down again as if nothing had happened.

Shin quickly headed out of the hotel room, getting down to street level and trying to find david again, making sure not to lose him.

It wasn't too hard to follow David, his features were slightly distinctive compared to most Yamataians. About two and a half minutes into the city though, David turned back and looked through the crowd behind him, as if looking for someone.

Shin quickly turned and walked in a slightly different direction, making sure to keep his pistol out of sight.

David lingered from face to face for a few seconds before walking a little further and turning down an alleyway that was between two taller buildings. It looked like it could have the back or side entrance to a shop possibly, but it was hard to tell without getting closer.

Shin went closer, pausing, pressed up against the wall at the front of the alleyway, looking down it cautiously and following him.

As Shin peeked down the alleyway, he heard David start to talk. "Did you bring what I asked for?" David asked, his voice seemed slightly agitated. "Of course I did." the voice that responded however, seemed naggingly familar, and as Shin's head slipped around the corner his eyes would reveal why. Standing at the end of the alleyway was James, holding a fast food bag in his right hand and something that Shin couldn't quite see in his left.

Shin had to make a choice now, jump out and shoot both of them, or wait for them to talk, then jump in. He did the smart thing, and decided to listen into both of th, holding his pistol down, but still ready just in case.

"It has everything right? Access codes to the freighter, routes I need to follow to get out without attracting attention?" David asked skeptically. "Everything, just be sure to be gone by 3 tommorrow, that's when they're gonna try and cap you." James responded. At this David reached for whatever it was in James's hand, but missed as James drew his hand rapidly back. "You know the drill, money first." James said as he waited for David to produce the money. "Right, I'm not going to cheat you. Here you go, 6000 DA as you requested, you can get it converted at whatever bank you want." David said as he handed the money to James.
Shin peeked around the corner, getting a good firing angle to James' head, setting the NSP to heavy and popping out from corner, firing the heavy bolt of energy at his "partner", then setting it to Stun and firing it at David.

As Shin stepped around to get a good angle on James, his partner noticed Shin's head turning the corner with an NSP drawn. James barely managed to dodge Shin's shot, though David wasn't so lucky and went right down. Simultaneously, Shin felt the muzzle of another gun pressed against the back of his skull. "Just had to intervene didn't you." James said as he drew his own NSP. "Too bad it got you killed Shin." Suddenly the world went black for Shin. Black letters could be seen floating in the center of the rec room. SIMULATION COMPLETE

"I could've disarmed him before he shot me." Shin then crossed his arms, a slightly discouraged look on his face. "Guess this means I failed?"

There was no argument from the computer, merely silence. Moments later the door slid open and the guards entered and put Shin's cuffs back on him. Yoshiko stood waiting outside, and once Shin had been brought out she spoke to him. "Nekki-Hei, we'll get back to you in 24 hours regarding your interview." Yoshiko said before motioning for the guards to take Shin back to his cell.

"Yoshiko-Shosa, Thank you for the opportunity to prove myself. I would bow, but you know." Shin shrugged, and didnt resist the guards as the drug him off.
