A Sharie Class Battleship was a busy place. Over 1200 meters long and around 2000 souls on board. It was especially busy today. After the Norian humanitarian rescue, the Wakaba was about to rejoin the 1st Fleet in its war against the Mishhu. Supplies of all kinds were being stocked from food, spar parts, weapons, Power Armors. Ever since its little mishap in being lost in space for nearly two years, the Wakaba always liked to keep extra supplies on hand. One of the approaching shuttles was loaded with a different type of supplies. The most important supplies, the crew. About a dozen new recruits were on their way to join the famous YSS Wakaba.

Inside the shuttle were a rainbow of uniforms of all different occupations. A Sharie battleship was a coveted ship assignment. The men and women aboard might be newbies, but they were the top of their classes. As the shuttle made its approach, they could just catch a glimpse of the mighty ship through the viewports. It was indeed an impressive sight.

A few moments later the shuttle touched down inside the massive hanger bay and opened its doors. The new recruits made their way out, several looking around wide eyed at the massive bay. Some noticed the signs of old battle damage. They were instructed to line up in two rows by a Joto Heisho with short blonde hair wearing red panels. She had a huge sword strapped to her back and she looked like she wanted an excuse to cut off someone’s head.

Haruka-Heisho.” She said by way of introduction. “Take a good look around you. This hanger bay was not once, not twice, but three times the site of a huge battle against the Mishhu. We were outnumbered four to one. But did we give up? Did we shirk our duty? NO! We fought to the last breath and we prevailed against our foe. But the price was dear. We lost many in that fight. Many that were not able to be brought back through Soul Transfer because we lost our ability to. Did that make our crew waver? No! They fought and died to save this ship. If you don’t think that you could do the same then turn right around and get back on that shuttle because I won’t have you here to tarnish the memory of those who came before.

There was a moment of silence where no one moved, then another voice spoke. “Well if that didn’t scare them off then nothing will.” An Elysium wearing the coral uniform of a caretaker strolled up beside Haruka. Her blonde hair was tied into two buns with two braids flowing down her back and had a friendly smile on her face. “Haruka-Heisho barks a lot, but she does also bite so don’t relax too much. My name is Tsuki Tenshi, my friends call me Moon Bird.” She glanced over at Haruka and said, “The Lady is waiting to interview the new recruits.” Haruka sighed, “Front Rank! Attention! You will follow Tenshi-Hei for your interview. Rear Rank will grab your things and come with me.

The front rank of new recruits consists of three nekos wearing cornflower blue, a Nepleslian man in red panels and a brown haired woman wearing the teal of a medic. “Follow me please.” Said Moon Bird as she led the way.

Rin had been looking forward to finally arriving to her very first assignment within the Star Army. She found herself bored at the clinic at the base where she had obtained her medic training. There were only so many healthy physicals that one could do before they all just became tedious. It wasn't that she wanted people to need a medic but she became one because she felt the need to heal and felt as if she had yet to be challenged in her role as a medic.

Her excitement was temporarily warded off by the words of Haruka-Heisho. Rin did not look around when it was mentioned in the little speech but listened to each word. She processed them trying to decide how she felt about the speech and knew that he was attempting to be intimidating. It worked for a moment but on further reflection as the next person spoke she found it unnecessary. Some of those present were literally created for this purpose and she couldn't imagine that the military was full of people who would not give their all and honor their past. But what did she know? Socialization training probably didn't teach you everything you needed to know.

When ordered she came to attention and followed Moon Bird away, wondering who 'The Lady' was. As they walked feeling freer than in formation to look around she took in the sights on their journey to meet whoever this lady was. She glanced at the new crewmate behind her making eye contact momentarily before turning her head back to the front. Her mind returning back to the task at hand, 'who is this lady?'

Moon Bird led her five charges through the ship with practiced ease. Things were busier than usual. Supplying a Sharie Battleship for a voyage was no little thing. But after traveling a few decks things began to become less busy although there were still plenty of yellow panels moving things around. Once things became a little quieter, Moon Bird said, "So I'm guessing some of you are wondering who 'the Lady' is?"

Moon Bird looked around her as if she was afraid of being overheard. "She called many things on this ship. Chief, Skipper, Ma'am, the Lady of Death or just Lady Death. There are all kinds of stories of how she got that name. Some say it's because she has killed so many of Yamatai's enemies. Others say it's because she the squad she leads, the Angel's of Death, have such a high fatality rate that being assigned to her squad is a death sentence." Moon Bird paused and turned to look at the group. Everyone suddenly became aware of the unit patch on her uniform and the words Angel's of Death on it. Moon Bird grin conspiratorially then shrugged and kept going.

One final lift and they entered a hallway that had very little traffic on it. At the end of the hall were four chairs lined up beside an office. As the group walked towards those chairs they could hear music playing. It was a cello. The Nepleslian in the group tilted his head to the side listening. Then he started singing softly along, as if he was confirming the song was what he thought it was. "You take the high road, and I'll take the low road. And I'll be in Nepleslia before ye."

Moon Bird stopped in front of the door and paused. Her wings fluttered a moment and she looked a little conflicted as if she was hesitant to interrupt the music coming from within the office. Then her head tilted to the side and her mouth seemed to move without speaking, as if she was talking to someone else by some other means of communication. After a moment she nodded and turned to her group. "Joto Heisho Setsunu Meiosei will be conducting your interviews." Moon Birds eyes fell on Rin. "Looks like you are first. The rest of you take a seat. Santo Hei Rin, the Lady is waiting for you."
