RP: Freespacers [Irregulars] Meeting at Port Hope

Thomas and Shannon listened almost as intently to Kin as he did to Cody's relay of Sphinx. There was a shared feeling of disbelief but Thomas simply nudged Cody to verify his claim. In the meantime it was becoming obvious that their time at Port Hope was drawing to a close. Hopefully there would be something productive from this trip.

"Thank you for your explanation, Kin. We appreciate your showing us around." Thomas said while taking in an understanding of Spacer culture.

"The Forge would be most ahpreciative o' these Spahcehs, eh Shannon?" Thomas telegraphed to her. While the research conducted by those mad scientists had not been his forte, Thomas was still just as facinated and involved in it.

"Aye, if only we could find them again. We wouldnae hav' t' find someone else t' help us if they was still aroun'." Shannon lamented back.

Meanwhile Cody waved over one of his assistants and gave him a piece of 'coal' before sending him off on a horse. Cracking his knuckles, Cody then began typing back on his telegraph.

Code:
Alright Sphinx, you know the business then. You won't mind if I ask to confirm a little bit of proof, do you? I'm sending you a data packet. Go ahead and scan it, I know you will anyway. Its just a verification program. Stick it into whatever system your using and it'll read your power clocks. Of course any attempt to spoof or alter it will cause it the program collapse in on itself. Don't worry, it won't collapse anything else, I ain't gonna be spiteful. But yeah, run the system, let my program read things and when I get it back I'll know if your legit or not.

As soon as he was done sending his reply to Sphinx, Cody leaned back on his chair and pulled out a cigar. He lit it as he waited for the results to come back.

Code:
I offered to "help you crack a Yamataian computer", not to "release information on the computational power I have available". It's either one or the other.
You're not trusting me. Well, I can understand the circumstances, but I'm not going to reveal who I am to anyone, not even a small hint like this.

So, you can either trust me, or... If you want me to run this packet, in exchange, I want access to your memory files.

Yes, I know it's not a fair trade. But I make the deals here. Either take it, or trust me.

"Access t' mah memory files-!? Who the fuck does this little rattlesnake think he is?" Cody shouted, nearly tearing at the telegraph machine. The vultures outside his shack circled faster and there were more now as his virtual world reflected his desire to strike out. "Big Tom, ya can't really believe this guy, can ya? Ah mean what if he's lyin'? Ah can't risk this because some young punk thinks he c'n dangle his 'offer' at us and make us dance." he then telegraphed to Thomas.

"Trust is a luxury we cannae afford. Tell me sumthin' Cody, can ye do th' job now as ye are." Thomas stated very sternly.

"No, not really." grumbled Cody.

"An' if he cannae do th' job will we lose any chance of completin' ahr mission." Thomas continued.

"Well, no, not really. Ah guess if he fails we won't really be at a loss. And its not like he'll actually have access to the PANTHEON once we're up'n runnin'." Cody admitted.

"Then we agree ta 'is terms. Set up a time t' do th' mission and run with 'im. Dinnae ge' 'im upset any further." Thomas commanded, making his authority understood. "An' don' ge' any funny nohshons o' double crossin' 'im. We stan' by ahr word an' pay our debts." he added with a slight warning.

"Fine, Big Tom. Ah swear if ya weren' family ah'd kill you." Cody replied with a half grin now from his side.

"You an' me both." Thomas concluded.

"So boys, are ye done bickerin'? If we're done 'ere then we may as well head back t' th' ship to make a run planetside for more supplies." Shannon motioned, with a hint of impatience.

"Aye, tha' we are." Thomas replied back, their telegraph net becoming thick with their emotions.

Meanwhile in Cody's part of the 'world' he began typing back to Sphinx. Alright pardner, you got me at a loss now. But just you wait till Ah wake Clementine up. Yer gonna get yer part of the deal paid but Big Tom said nothin' about makin' mah own pursuits after yer paid. If ya double cross us you'll regret it. Cody thought to himself.

Code:
I prefer to agree to a deal with grace regardless of the situation I am in. So trust aside, I believe in your abilities and will pursue no further intent to verify your capabilities. If you say you can, you can. Let us work together to break into the Yamataian system. You will receive your favor once we have completed the break in. The time frame will be two weeks from now. Look for a relay outside New Kohana bearing the stamp I am sending you. That is where we will tap in our relay so we can transmit the amount of power necessary to accomplish our task. If you do not see this stamp then we were forced to postpone. In one week attempt to contact again around Port Hope to rescehdule. Sound good?

Once Sphinx's message had been received, Cody ended their transmission. "Alright Big Tom. He's in. Ya'll done playin' tourist yet?"

"Aye, w're dun here. Clean up ye system. Shannon an' Aye ahr on our wey back." Thomas replied to Cody.

The transmission was cut and security measures were initiated to scrub all signs of the communication hop. Cody went to every length to ensure no one had listened in on them nor could trace any sign of their existence.

"Puppetmaster Kin, we thank you for the tour. We are going to leave behind our tech crew to continue their work. They should have sufficient supplies to work with and we will send you another shipment as well as a relief crew." Shannon told him.

"Yes, if you happen to see our escort let them know we appreciate their keeping an eye on our folks. We'll be shortly departing on our ship." Thomas then added.

After they had finished bidding their farewells, Thomas and Shannon boarded and began proper departure procedures. After a few more crates of supplies, mostly food for the techs, were offloaded the captain hailed the Nepleslian escort to alert them of their intentions.

It would not be much longer before they had disengaged from Port Hope and casually took off into space, back towards Nepleslia.
