Alright! I got it! While driving, yes, while driving I was able to think of something. It was right about the time I hit St. Louis in Missouri that it hit me.
Okay I scrapped the laser tagging and thought of something else. Different sections would generate gravity in different directions as well as some areas with zero g to them. The players would start in the middle, a sphere would be tossed up. At that point players must gain control of the ball. The ball has a slight propulsion to it so if it is let go of it will move on its own slowly. The ball is considered in play until one team scores.
Players can catch, carry, kick, headbutt, use pretty much any part of their body to hit the ball in any direction, preferably to their team mate. They then try to get the ball to the other team's goal. The goal will have gravity fluxuating in random directions each round meaning you have to send the ball into it from the right direction or it will fall right back out.
Players can tackle each other to try and steal the ball from each other. No trampling, no direct punching, no direct kicking, no direct headbutting, or elbowing or, well, you know, don't actually try to strike the opposing player. Just tackling and rough housing.
Its like a combination of soccer/football/basketball/rugby. But with anti-gravity and lopsided fields of play. ^^
