"Roger, scanning the system" Natsumi replied. Her fingers danced over her controles. She quickly brought up the sensor displays and began her scan. She focused on detecting any persuing ships dropping out of hyperspace behind them.

Ramiro's hand flicked across the keyboard, quickly punching in the commands that he had become so familiar with since he had joined with the Eucharis. He had charted the ship so many times and worked with the fold drive interface so many times that he could do it in his sleep, and actually had in some of his dreams. Within moments, the fold drive was recharging and the next destination had been translated into coordinates and uploaded to the drive.

Just for the fun of it, Ramiro synced the fold drive with Hanako's countdown timer, programming it to initiate once the timer reached zero. Below the countdown timer a loading bar appeared along with a percentage indicator, which slowly began to increase from zero.

"Fold drive charging, progress is posted on the main screen, programmed to initiate upon countdown expiration."

LM-NE-01 System

Eucharis' scans would indicate that on each planetoid in the system, there were signs of terraforming in progress. Though, along with the signs of terraforming, there were very subtle gravitic, subspace, and radiological disturbances which were not precisely normal. However, there were also no signs of sentient life present aside from a few Lorath Matriarchy signals which were indicative of the presence of the Lmanel caste of Lorath, the caste which was often placed in charge of terraforming operations. Though, there were a few more signals of interest which also came up on sensors, but these signals originated from space, and belonged to a pair of Zahl-Class LSDF ships, and a Nir-Class colony ship. Along with those ships though, there were also signs of scattered debris, but sensors would indicate that they had been drifting there for some time, and, were far too small for full on analysis.

"Looks like they're busy here, setting up shop in our backyard." Helen spoke, as she scowled. "Though, I don't like this, only two of their rather dated Zahl-Class... it is not exactly their style." she stated, as she eyed the sensors. "Shosho, I would recommend we start moving... somewhere, anywhere, as fast as we can."

Outside

As the Eucharis' active sensors went about probing the system for all it contained, there was soon a sudden spike in gravitic activity, from a number of very small sources. It seemed that the Eucharis' sudden arrival was not anticipated by the Lorath Self Defense Force, or, word had simply not reached the LSDF in system yet..

Eucharis - Bridge

As the sudden signs of gravitic propulsion were detected, a communication signal would be received by the Eucharis, transmitted by one of the Zahl-Class ships "Yamataian vessel, your sudden arrival and scans have activated our security field. Hold position, or you risk activating more of the units, we will attempt to deactivate the ones which have been triggered before detonation."

"All stop. Maximum shields. Deploy weapons pods. On any approaching mines only, fire at will," Hanako ordered. "Get a count of the number of mines in the system and if necessary, remove us from the system using a CFS jump. When the fold system is ready, take us to the next system, but defold outside of the mine deployment range used in this system."

To the Lorath, Hanako simply sent. "We recognize this as a Lorath system and we will leave in less than a minute. Please note we are prepared to defend ourselves from any act of aggression."

Doesn't seem like the sensors are picking up much except for... What the hell is that?

Ramiro was about to call out the spike, but it seemed that Hanako had identified it already.

"Hei, take shields and weapons." Ramiro called out as his fingers danced across the keyboard. "Stopping!" His fingers continued to move as he began switching over to the sensors interface. Shortly thereafter, the ship was scanning for the mines, at which point the resulting numbers and locations would be placed on the main screen.

"Sensor data is collecting, recharting now." This was the easy part. In a matter of moments Ramiro had corrected their fold destination to take them outside of the estimated minefield range.

Natsumi snapped into action, bringing the shield generators online. "Shields are up!" she announced as the invisible protective bubble materialized in place around the Eucharis.

Next she deployed the battle pods and let the battle computer designate a target priority list. She prioritized the mines closing in on the ship and brought the ships guns to bear.

"Okay, here we go" she muttered to herself. she had no intention of letting Eucharis getting holes blasted in it on her first time managing the guns in battle. "Weapons ready!" she sais, her fingers resting on the trigger. As soon as the first mine crossed the invisible line in the sand she fired, bolts of energy shot out from the ships batteries, blasting mines as they closed in.

As Helen stood within her circle of volumetric displays, she raised her brow as she eyed the sensor data on the mines which they had managed to detect, since their payloads had already began to charge, it was easy to get a reading, as she looked beyond the explosions which were produced as the Eucharis managed to fend off the small swarm of explosives.

"Detecting mixed ordinance. Antimatter and nuclear, also a third type... scanning." Helen spoke as she eyed the data on her screen, before letting out a hiss of a Nepleslian curse, before she reported on her finding. "Also detecting jamming munitions comparable to our own and those used by the former UOC!"

Just as Helen made her report, another transmission came from the Zahl-Class ship which had sent a message before; "Yamataian ship, we have successfully managed to put the mines that are carrying damaging payloads on standby, however, our secondary priority of disabling mines with non-damaging payloads is still underway."

Cave

Misato stood waiting for the rest of the group to join them, as she did she scratched three marks onto her rifle. She was fairly sure she took that many down herself. "Must keep a tally, mustn't forget," she muttered to herself. Standing there waiting she watched Bors, guilt stricken her. She knew that she choose to take charge and the decisions that lead to him being hurt and almost killed were her's alone. Opening a private comm to Takeyu, she spoke firmly but with much doubt in her voice.

Code:
Sir, would you like it if I stayed here and watched the exit, I fear I will just cause you all to end up in another trap.

She couldn't move her eyes off of Bors as she spoke. Misato did know much for sure about anything at the moment but she was glad her helmet was on, so that no one would see the tears.

Ether - Cave

Mitsuko would spot Jonathan first, as she met up with the others. As worn out and annoyed as she was about what had happened with the shuttle, the infantry looked like they'd been through much worse. She was reminded again how lucky she'd felt to only be assigned to pilot the shuttle, even if that hadn't ended well.

She moved to rejoin the group, retrieving the now spent pistol from her new jacket to return it to Takeyu. "...th-thank you for the loan. I didn't make very good use of it, though. My apologies, Taii." She bowed after handing over the gun, her own reloaded weapon safely holstered at the moment. There was no ship for her to pilot, so Murakami had little to do but follow the others deeper into the installation.

Ether - Cave

Takeyu stared at the airlock door before wighing his options. "Bors-hei, Mitsuko-hei and Tomomi-hei will stay here to guard the exit, Bor's power armor is breached and Mitsuko and Tomomi are without armor, can't risk the three of you being killed and Bors-hei can help defend in case anything comes just make sure to stay in contact. Misato-hei, and DarkSky's-hei, you two are with me, Misato has point, DarkSky's has the rear," he said this and walked over to Misato and placed his gloved hand on her shoulder.

"Relax, settle down, and calm your thoughts ok? Everyone makes mistakes, none of us are perfect, the deal is that we learn from those mistakes and try not to repeat them in the future," he smiled at her before motioning for them to take up a position to the sides of the airlock door.

He then glanced back at the two unarmored crewmen. "Use anything that you can find for covoer, even the corpses of these Rippers," he kicked one. "Just in case we get more surpises, I'll leave three drones behind to assist in case anything happens."

"And Bors-hei, try to relax and don't over do it, I'll leave the medkit here in case you need it, I have a spare one anyway," he smiled.

Cave

Bors attached the med kit that Takeyu gave him onto his belt before giving him an affirming nod.

"Got it sir, I'll make sure to inform any squids that come this way that."

He added sarcastically before removing his helmet to get some fresh air in his system. As soon as his helmet seal was broken the blood that was pooled there from his close brush with death started to flow out, trickling down his armor through the creases and dents in it. This didn't phase Bors much, instead he merely wiped some of it up with is fingers before shrugging at the sight.

Once his helmet was off Bors returned to his seat on the floor, looking towards the door that lead to the outside, keeping watch over it with his pulse rifle set across his lap.

Ether - Cave

"Hai." Tomomi said in response to Takeyu's orders. Tomomi then attempted to tuck herself into some cover face the Cave's entrance. "Soo...convert over to the Elysian religion yet?" She asked Bors over his survival.

Ether - Cave

With a muted sigh, Takeyu double checked his rifle and made sure a grenade was ready to be lobbed in the event they ran into anymore trouble, then he looked toward the airlock and glanced over at DarkSky and Misato. "Let's get that door open," he asked and approuched it with his rifle up in case there was anything inside when the door was opened.

Misato heard the words that Takeyu said, and she did nod. The pain of failure was still so very strong in her heart. 'How am I to just walk away and continue on?' She was being hard on herself and she knew it.

Kyle said:
"Let's get that door open,"

"Yes Sir," Suzume chimed trying to keep the pain out of her voice, but her steps toward the door were heavy. Checking over all her weapons systems, she was down by half for her gauss rifle, only 3/4 left of her sub-machine gun mag. Though she did have two spares of those, and she was bingo on missiles.

As She reached the opposite door she waited for Takeyu and Darksky to get into position then with a nod of her head she hit the door controls.

Eucharis Bridge

Natsumi hunched over her console, directing the ships guns, blasting away at mines that approached the Eucharis. With the updated news that there were mines armed with nuclear warheads and electronic warfare packages, she expanded the minimum distance she would allow them to get out farther from the ship.

"Any idea how many of these things are out there?" she asked as she blasted another mine into so much molten debris.

Once again at the rear of the formation, Jonathan didn't feel as out of place as he had before. After all, his forearm shield looked like swiss cheese after the beating it had taken, and his left forearm wasn't in the best of conditions either. Still, he had everything else fully loaded and operational (excepting for the 5 expended mini missiles over his left shoulder,) and when it came down to it, Jonathan knew he could be quite mean in close quarters Combat. The kalamari was made for it, after all ....

Bors laughed weakly at Tomomi's comment, "No not yet, figure I will when I buy the farm for good."

Adjusting himself so he was in a more comfortable position, spitting out some phlegm and stray blood that was still in his mouth before putting in his Ecig.

"Hate the spitting up that stuff, usually means somethings going bad and it taste awful to boot."

Underground Facility

As the massive doors opened, the white tunnel gave way to a large open vault area. To the left was a large motor pool area where vehicles were unloaded, maintained, ans stored. Only a half-destroyed NMX tank and a beat-up looking cargo truck remained. On the right was another room, which contained a collection of crates, mostly opened and labeled with Mishhuvurthyar writing. Ahead there was an overhead sign that read "RESEARCH INSTALLATION 2" over a passageway with an abandoned reception desk. No signs of enemies so far.

Bridge

As the timer reached 00, the Eucharis blinked out of the system, appearing on the outskirts of the next star system over, and the timer started again.

Ether - Cave

Mitsuko paled at all the blood and other fluids coming out of Bors. She didn't think there was anything she could do to help, though. Tomomi was keeping him company, so she decided to see what she could do about the room they were left to defend. She took a look through the room, moving quickly, mapping out the space in her head. Murakami took stock of the damage to the room, and what cover was available. Fallen chunks of ceiling, Ripper corpses, anything.

She was good with arranging things to best fit the space provided, and this was a task should could handle. Mitsuko began dragging debris, and anything else she could move by herself, into better position to provide some cover near the room's two exits. More company from the surface was unlikely, but possible. The others might need to fall back to this room from the area they were exploring, so a somewhat more defensible position near that exit couldn't hurt. Murakami could settle herself in there to keep an eye on things, since Bors and Tomomi were closer to the surface exit.
