Cave Entrance - Ether

Mitsuko was glad they had settled who was heading into the installation first. They hadn't quite decided on what to do after, though. "...well...I suppose I should at least report in. Maybe they'll have good news for us..."

She opened subspace communications to the Eucharis, taking a moment to calm her nerves. She quickly wrote out what she wanted to say before speaking over the radio, not wanting to make any mistakes. "Eucharis, this is Murakami-Hei, reporting. Your earlier assistance allowed us to land safely and arrive at our destination without further incident. We are beginning infiltration as I speak. However, our transport to the site was damaged beyond our capability to repair, at this moment. Requesting alternate means of extraction. Over."

She looked at the others left with her at the entrance, resting a hand on her weapon. It wouldn't do her much good if more Rippers appeared. Mitsuko wondered how long they'd be left waiting here...

Cave

Bors almost forgot how much he enjoyed solitude and quiet until he was alone in the cave. After a bit of plodding through the blue hued cavern he decided to take off his helmet and take a break, and glanced over his shoulder before pulling out his Ecig and putting it in his mouth. It's kind of nice to be able to walk through a cave and not get shot at. he thought taking a seat on a nearby frost covered rock,Though it seems a bit fishy that there not pouring out of the walls to do that right now. Worrying himself with his thinking he started to take in the details of the cavern, and noticed the cameras and the nearby elevator. Should pay more attention and quit enjoying myself,I'll end up getting myself killed. He thought before taking a final long drag of his Ecig before stashing it away. As if to confirm his thinking, his exhale of smoke reviled multitude of lasers leading to explosive mines that blocked his path to the elevators. Bors shook his head in amaze my before putting on his helmet and radioing back to the others at the mouth of the cave.

"I found our way down to the base, only thing we have to deal with is a few cameras and some laser tripmines."

 

[Yoshi]

Cave

Misato listened to Mitsuko sending the subspace message to the ship. She also knew that as the ranking person here, she needed to send an sit-rep to the Sho'sho'. Misato opened a channel to the ship.

Ma'am Misato here, We've crashed landed near the installation, the shuttle would not be able to e-vac us. the five of us are fine, no injures to report. we are about to head down to continue the operation. Will report back in when we return to the surface.

As soon as she sent it she turned to speak to Bors when he spoke of the mines. "Hmmm...? Well Darksky I have a job for you. Bors will show them to you but you need to disarm the mines." Turning to the pilots, "OK well you guys follow us, we will probably need some computer assistance down there, hell we might need you guys to break into that lift." she pointed past the mines. "Welp guys lets get moving, forever is always closing."

Bridge

Hanako sent a message back to Misato:

We will send Takeyu down to do repairs.

She called engineering. "Takeyu, you have permission to go repair that shuttle. Will you be able to descend in your power armor, or will you need the other T7 shuttle?"

 

[Screech48]

Jonathan perked at the mention of mines. Of the trio, he and Misato were equally skilled, but only his Mindy was uniquely prepared for such a contingency in the form of the Ke-M3-W3001 “Kalamari” Manipulator Arm System on his dorsal hardpoint. Each of the 6 manipulator arms could extend out 22 meters, and the 4 fingers at the end of each weere as deft and nimble as his own, if not more so.

"By your command," DarkSky said to Misato before turning to Bors, a definite smile in his voice coming over the com. "Lets tag them and bag them." At a simple command, the middle arms extended from the turtle shell on his back, one left and one right. The fingers were wiggled, testing for responsiveness and range of motion while waiting for Bors to point out the closest of the laser trip mines. Once they had been identified, Jonathan planned to work 20 meters away, one by one, until they were all disarmed.

Engineering

"Take care of engineering Heisho," Takeyu said to Cherry as he patted the girl on the shoulder before addressing Hanako's message.

"I can insert via power armor much more easily, besides, I think it's best we keep the last shuttle on standby in case it's needed," said Takeyu as he was leaving Engineering. "Any information on what downed the first shuttle Shosho?"

 

[Wes]

Bridge

"The shuttle was attacked by Ripper power armors," Hanako replied to Takeyu over her phone. "We already destroyed them. Be alert."

Cave

As the away team approached the laser-triggered bombs they found the bombs were hidden among the walls, disguised with plaster shaped and painted to look like the cave walls.

An NMX neko in snow gear popped out from around the corner, aimed her Impaler rifle at Bors, and fired once before retreating to cover, sending a blue bolt at Bors that bounced off his torso, leaving a burned crater in the armor that was about 3 inches across. He was alright, though.

Cave

"Contact!" Jonathan immediately dropped to one knee, moving his shield infront of him and planting its lower edge on the floor while facing towards the corner the Neko had pop-tarted from. The manipulator arms were likewise immediately retracted, though the Kalamari unit was left powered up and primed for use. Of his weapons, the missiles and gauss cannon were likewise left out of the loop on account of being complete overkill for a non-power armored unit. The forearm weapons on his right arm, however, were primed and set for mode 2: rapid fire, close range energy bolts.

"Someone's home and knows they have uninvited guests. Gotta love the welcoming committee."

 

[Kyle]

Power Armor Bay

Takeyu sighed. "Thanks Shosho! I'm headed out, I'll have that shuttle repaired before the team returns," he said and grabbed a repair kit before actually leaving engineering. He made his way quickly to the power armor bay and began to suit up, he hadn't changed his loadout from the last time so he kept it though he did add an additional capacitor in case he needed to teleport.

When he was suited up and ready, he flexed his gloved hand and shouldered his rifle and made sure the equipment pack with the repair hit was on tightly and secured properly.

Before he opened the rear doors, he made sure to download the shuttles coordinates from the main computer. When the data was all board he made sure that the power armor bay was sealed, and walked toward the open bay door and looked out over the planet.

"I'd say feet first into hell, but the rooks have beaten me to it," grinned the Taii as he jumped out through the forcefielded door and began to make his way down toward the planet. Let's hope all of them were taken out, I don't fancy being used for airborne target practice..

Cave.

Misato was watching to mouth of the cave for any movement when Jonathan yelled "Contact!" She spun around and brought up her sub-machine gun and took aim at the corner the neko popped out of. "Darksky stay at those explosives we need to get moving. Bors help me cover him. I'm worried that they might try to come at us from both sides now." and she was she wanted to keep watching the entrance of the cave. she knew the rippers took a beating from air support but she wasn't positive that they were all taken out. 'come on... come on... come on... newbie get those mines out of there so we can get moving. She took to trying to watch both directions at the same time.

Cave

"By Your Command." Remaining behind his shield, Jonathan extended the middle pair of manipulator arms and resumed working on the mines as they were pointed out to him.

Cave

Johnathan's demolitions training served him well; the team was lucky to have him. He was able to skillfully disarm eight of the the mines by carefully scraping the camouflage plaster from them and by disconnecting the detonators from the explosive packages. He was able to clear a path that would allow them to crawl through.

After a while the enemy Nekovalkyrja began to harass them away team once more, this time throwing stones from around the corner, attempting to set off the mines by triggering the lasers.

"Ramiro," Hanako said, "Take us to a nearby system where Helen thinks we can find Occhestians."

Cave Entrance - Ether

Mitsuko was rather worried about the thought of entering the installation with the others. She wasn't exactly dressed for battle. Contact with the enemy made her worries rather pointless, as the danger came to them.

As Misato tried to look every direction at once, Murakami tried to take a bit of the burden from her. "Tomomi and I can watch your back. Don't worry about what's behind you!" She moved away from the fighting, closer to the entrance. She'd keep an eye on the shuttle and snow outside, while the others cleared this first obstacle.

"Roger," Ramiro responded quickly. Pulling up the star map, he began plotting routes to several of the nearby systems. "Ma'am," he said as he looked back at Helen, "Where would you like us to go? I've got routes charted to about a dozen nearby systems, just need a specific one to head towards."

Natsumi glanced back at Ramiro as he responded to the order to plot a cours e for the Eucharis to a different star system. She wondered if she should offer to relinquish the Starship Operators station to him since he was now getting orders to navigate and since he was the senior operator.

YSS Eucharis - Bridge

It was clear to Helen at that point that they were leaving the ground team to conduct their operation, she wondered how they would fare without support from the Eucharis, though, she also knew the Gartagens were in the area, and would likely be able to provide medical evacuation and artillery support, if it was needed, so it settled well enough with her so she skipped any objections, and instead took to the task of finding a group of people which very likely did not wish to be found.

"Set course to head to the stellar north-east from our current location." Helen spoke, as she brought up a star map. "Charts indicate a system named 'Cellondora'. We'll go there first, then head to the system directly stellar east of that system. From there, if we have not found the Occhestians yet, then we should head to the two systems that would be to the north of that way point." Helen explained, as she applied her best guess to the situation. "However, while we are en route, I would like a communication link established with Dawn Station, request their subspace sensor data for the last two years. Perhaps their data may be of use to our search."

Cave

"Contact!" Tomomi instintively screamed over the radio. Though before she could bear her NSP at her. Then she noticed the rocks and where she was throwing them at. At that moment, she really wished she had a stun grenade.
But instead Tomomi started to back away.

"The most we will be able to do is maybe scare them off if the nekos come in force. Especially if they are in powered armored." Tomomi said when Mitsuko mentioned covering their backs.

Ether Surface

When Mitsuko returned to the surface and returned to the shuttle, she could see that it had been recently looted. All of the shuttle's five survival kits had been stolen!

Cave

A brilliant flash filled the cave for a moment as a thrown stone set off one of the mine, unleashing a forceful shockwave that knocked the away team on its ass and sent damaging shrapnel into Bors' armor, knocking his AIES damage readout down to 50%. Smoke filled the cave and belched out its entrance.

Ether, Atmospheric Re-entry

When the Eucharis had started to move away, Takeyu had watched her and gave the ship a rather crisp salute. "Good luck Shosho," he said to himself before entering the planets upper-atmosphere.

Takeyu kept him suit on a path that would take him within a mile of the shuttle, he couldn't land directly at it of course but getting close was good enough.

He was glad that the Mindy was designed for re-entry, otherwise he'd be a piece of flaming debris strewn about over several hundred miles right now in very tiny pieces - not exactly how he planned to go.

When he was through the upper-atmosphere; he began to slow his descent though he decided not to use his comm.'s right now in case there were any enmies listening in, Misshu or otherwise, although the Garts were an ally he still had problems trusting those outside of the army with the exception of those he had worked in the past... perhaps it was a bit of paranoia on his part but thus far it was serving him well.

Then again, he didn't need to send an 'open' message, an encrypted one would work out just nicely. "Taii Nayacesen to Away team, please respond," he said and made certain the encryption was solid though he wondered if he'd be able to reach that far given he was still plummeting through the atmosphere and getting ever closer to the terrain although slowing down a bit as well.

As he neared the ground, he slowed himself even further so that he would come down in a soft landing.

Cave

Bors watched as the rocks flew at him and the rest of the team, "Oh rocks I'm so scarred" he laughed to himself as one bounced off his forearm shield "Whats the worst it can do scratch my armor?" At that moment one of the harmless rocks hit a mine causing an explosion, sending shrapnel into Bors armor knocking him to the ground. Bors helmet filled with warning lights and damage readouts, Ok maybe i should be afraid of some stupid rocks then.. he thought before firing several burst of plasma from his forearm mounted plasma torch/gun into the smokey darkness.
