Shuttle Bay

At least everything went smoothly on the way back. Mitsuko was struggling to continue working as soon as the shuttle touched down. She sluggishly powered everything down, eyelids heavy. There wasn't a good reason to force things any longer. Murakami could dimly hear someone speaking in the background as she slumped over, blacking out, tears streaming down her messy cheeks as her LASR clattered to the shuttle floor.

Shuttle Bay
Bors hard the clatter of the LASR falling to the ground and looked over his shoulder to see Mitsuko slumped over in the pilots seat.

"She took a direct shot to the head, her helmet saved her though."

Bors said to Citrine as he went back to the cockpit to bring the now passed out Mitsuko out and onto the stretcher. Once he was done with that Bors picked up Mitsuko's LASR and his helmet and made his way toward the armory saying.

"If the Shosho or anyone needs me I'll be in the armory resupplying."

Medical Lab; One Hour Later

After an hour, Sune and Misato were back on their feet in new bodies that were just like their old ones except for the baby-like skin and silly-looking unstyled hair. Mitsuko was under a blanket on one of the tables wearing a foam neck brace. "All of you are cleared to return to duty," Citrine informed the three patients. "There will probably be a debriefing at some point but other team is still on the surface so the Shosho is staying on the bridge."

Cabin 1

Sune walked into his cabin wearing the scrubs that Citrine had provided. He stepped out of them and crossed over to his locker. He also asked Charisma to download to his ICP the current status of the other away team.

As he put on a clean Type 35 Duty Uniform, he reviewed the data. So far the team was relatively okay, as long as you did not consider a severe storm as a risk.

With his uniform properly worn and standard accoutrements in place. He ran a brush through his hair. While not entirely satisfied with the look, there was not much he could do about it.

He left his cabin and made his way to the bridge.

Bridge
Once on the bridge, "Reporting for duty Shôshô." he said to Hanako, "I had Charisma bring me up to speed on the situation of the other team."

He went to the mission ops station. Once seated he programmed the console to his specifications, have the ship's sensors available at his command.

Hanako got straight to business. "Welcome home. What do you want to do about this NMX base? Clearly there's at least some of the garrison still manning it. From a technical standpoint the war is not over and these are our enemies so we cannot just leave them here, and it would be unwise to let them escape. To me that leaves us with two options: we must destroy them or force their surrender. When you went to investigate the base, you mentioned they were hesitant to fight at first. Do you think they might be willing to surrender peacefully? Even if the leaders will not, we may be able to get the support of their Nekovalkyrja."

As she stepped out of the tank Misato felt nothing but failure, and fear. Shaking she stood there for a minute before putting one the scrubs. When she saw Mitsuko rolled in on the gurney her heart fell, "What did I let happen.' she felt a few tears roll down her cheeks. She had failed the team, and worst her failure hurt Mimi-chan. Her chest hurt, an anger filled her, she didn't know for whom it was for, the rippers or herself.

When Citrine released them She walked over to Mitsuko, "I'm sorry I failed to protect you, I really not sure if I can ask for forgiveness for my failure." She started reaching for Mimi's hand but stop just short of touching it before dropping it back down to her side.

Sune took a few moments to consider the events that had transpired, and Hanako's questions.

"There are number of problems with either option. The installation was already hit by a nuclear device. The NMX apparently survived so their base must be sufficiently deep that it would take a sizable bombing.

We would probably need a number of Ke-Z2 bombs if we were going to try to neutralize that base.

IF there are any Nekovalkyrja in the base we would have to find a way to let them know.

We would need more fire power if we are going to take the entrance and hold it long enough to try to evacuate any. We have a Troll, so that would be some help, but we would probably need to have a larger team."

Medical Lab

Physically, Mitsuko felt much better after her treatment. Mentally and emotionally, she was still drained. She would have been content to go right back to sleep there on the table, but being cleared for duty implied she was expected to get back to work. Murakami couldn't exactly get back into her Mindy at the moment, but there was probably something else she should be doing.

She realized her roommate was there as she spoke up, and reached out to grab Misato's hand before she could let it drop. Squeezing it tightly, Mitsuko had to sit up a bit to look at her, not able to turn her neck with the brace on. She held the blanket to her with her free hand, squinting at the other Neko, head still a bit fuzzy. "...that's really you?" She made a face. "...your hair looks dumb."

Mitsuko managed a weak smile. "I'm safe. I should have been there beside you. It's not your job to protect me..." She slowly got up, off the table, trying to hold the blanket around her with one hand. "Let's just go wash up and get dressed." She squeezed that hand tighter, eyes gleaming without her glasses in the way.

Armory

Sitting at the table in his undershirt and uniform pants a steady pattern of bluish white vapor came from his mouth as Bors puffed away at his Ecig mulling over the things he wished he did over the planet below. The main thing on his mind was the thoughts of the rest of the team he hoped they were alright especially Mitsuko reasoning that Nearly dying and seeing your roommate cut in two pry would mess with your head a bit. His big concern was with the Shosho though, she pry wasn't to happy with him letting her XO die as well as failing the mission. Shaking his head he put his attention back to the weapon in front of him, deciding that bringing anything up would be a bad course of action unless someone brought it up first and he should just forget about it until then.

Hanako nodded to Sune and began to brainstorm strategy out loud. "The fact that it is an extensive facility means we have a lot of places our assault team could hide. We have teleporter units, so entering the base through the front door was unnecessary. I can ask for another 50 infantry Nekovalkyrja like we did when we did our assault on the nest. We could even leave this problem to some other starship to handle if we are too small."

The Shosho open a number of volumetric windows showing various sensor diagrams. "Anyway, look at these sensor readings...I am pretty sure now that they are attempting to conceal an entire warship in one of the underground hangars. It is possible that if we leave the star system they make try to make a run for it before our reinforcements arrive, which may or may not work in our advantage. If they leave on the ship, that means the base will probably be left empty and we can destroy the ship and claim the base...although there may be some intelligence gained from seeing where that ship goes, if it can be tracked. At this point I really wish we had an armistice we we could simply deliver the news that the was was over. We know from previous experience that many NMX Nekovalkyrja are willing to surrender, but only if their Mishhuvurthyar leadership is not around their situation seems hopeless. We could try to remove the leadership with an assault squad. We may be able to pinpoint the lead Mishhuvurthyar by triangulating the psionic signals your team received."

Med-bay

At first she was confused when Mimi mentioned her hair. Misato was bout to shake her and scream that she failed her and may have lost her. Then Mimi-chan continued, Misato felt tears rolling down her cheeks as Mimi told her that it wasn't her job to protect her.

The little neko tried to lead Misato out of the Med-bay, "I can't... I dragged you along... I told you I was going to protect you...You got hurt."

Tears were falling freely now. "I care for, I can't let you get hurt. I'm a warrior but I can protect the people that matter to me."

Medical Lab

Mitsuko awkwardly tucked the blanket around her, trying to maintain some sort of modesty as she let her scrub-clab roommate lead her toward the exit. They slowed to a stop though, as she noticed tears rolling down Misato's cheeks. Murakami tried to maintain her composure, but it didn't hold for long. She began sniffling, squeezing Misato's hand again.

"I'm supposed to b-be a soldier, too. You shouldn't have to w-worry about me. That's my fault..." She was starting to tear up again. "If I could pull my own w-weight, these things wouldn't keep happening." Mitsuko sniffled again, as the tears began streaming. The situation felt rather awkward, as they wound up stuck by the exit.

"You've g-got me started, now, too." She wiped at her face with the blanket, letting go of Misato's hand to wrap her arm around her. She did her best to shuffle out of the room, switching to floating to attempt to make the short journey to their cabin a bit smoother.

Cabin 4

Misato walked next to Mimi-chan to there cabin and started changing into a uniform. The whole time thinking of how much of a failure she had been.

As she was pulling the skirt up she spoke softly, "I understand we were all trained to be soldiers, but I took the path of Infratry, I know nothing more. You are Logistics, you know and understand far more then I can ever. You remember my junk busniss? it won't take off, I have crap, and I'm burning damned near all of my pay to keep it going. That book you gave me, I understand about half of it."

She sat down with her belt and pistol in hand, "I can strip this in space with a AEMS suit on, with my eyes closed. I can tell you which type of explosive is appropriate to take out a small wall, or a Command Carrier." she buckled the belt into place and slide the pistol into it's holster. She stood up. "One of us have the skills to make it after we leave the military, the other one is not cut out to live with out it."

She looked around the room and found the sword she was given the first Yule feast and strapped it to her other hip. "I should have never talked you into coming down there. I wanted to show you my world, after you showed me yours."

Misato walked to the door, "I'll see you in a bit." with a wink she stepped out of the Cabin and headed to the Bridge.

Bridge

Misato entered the bridge and stood to the side in view of the command chair. Her eyes puffy, and her hands held Neutrally at her side, she stood waiting to be acknowledged.

Cabin 4

Mitsuko listened quietly while her roommate spoke. She tried to get her sniffles under control as she changed. The process was a bit slow, due to her injury. She was still working on getting dressed as Misato moved to the door.

"I don't know why you want to start a business so badly, Suzume-chan...but I'm happy to help. I'll look at how you're spending your money, and we'll figure out how to make it work. We can help each other. You can help me be more comfortable in...your world. We still need to finalize that training scenario, Suzume-chan."

Murakami tilted her head at the parting wink, but shrugged and finished getting into uniform. Once she was dressed, she returned the blanket to the Medical Lab and apologized to Citrine for taking it, and for the scene, and for generally wasting her time with her comparatively minor injury.

Medical Lab

"There is no need to apologize. You witnessed a crew mate get killed in a particularly violent fashion. As for your injury, it is my duty to check all members when they return from a combat situation. I am just grateful that it turned out to be something minor. After all." Citrine said with a warm smile.

Sune did an inward shudder at the proposal to teleport into the base blind. Although he did briefly wonder about the idea of using the teleportation module to deliver a bomb to the controller of the base.

"Perhaps we can force the leadership to surrender. IF we can determine which of the hangars they are using, we could launch an assault on it. With a half century of Infantry we could probably get into it and disable the ship.

With escape by their ship cut off, perhaps then you could negotiate a surrender."

Bridge

"I do not think we should wait. Here is my plan: I will fire the Eucharis' weapons on the hangars to destroy the ship in its bay. Then, in the aftermath, our away team will conduct a mop-up operation. I will scrounge up whatever infantry support I can find to assist with the operation. Does that sound alright?" Hanako proposed. "If so, go gather up your team and get them rearmed and re-motivated."

Medical Lab

Mitsuko shivered at those words, before managing an awkward, stiff bow, trying not to move her neck. "Thank you. Hopefully things will be quiet here for a while..." With the blanket returned, she left Medical, pausing outside as she considered what to do next. After a few moments, she decided to head for the Shuttle Bay, and then the Power Armor Bay, to find out where her Mindy had wound up when she'd been removed from it.

Bridge

Sune listened to Hanako's proposal. He was not keen on it to say the least, but with additional infantry it might be workable.

He sent a series of commands down to the fabrication area. Programming it to build a replacement M2-3A. He then picked up the intercom and dialed ship wide.

"Away Team one. Report to the Armor Bay for briefing.". he sent through the ship.

He stood up, "Let me know what Infantry you are able to acquire for us." walked out of the bridge.

On his way down to the Armor bay, he stopped briefly in Medical. "Citrine, report to the Armor bay. I'm adding you to our Team. We will need all the fire power we can get."

"I will be there momentarily, Jalen-Chusa" the yellow haired Neko replied.

Armor Bay

Upon hearing the announcement to meet in the armor bay, Bors put down the weapon he was currently working and went to go suit up again. Part of him wished that the mission would just be over, but that was a very small part, the rest of him just wanted to get back into the action. Quickly suiting up in his MCAS Bors waited for the others to arrive and for the mission briefing.

Armor Bay

Seeing no sign of her Mindy in the Shuttle Bay, Mitsuko had continued on to the Armor Bay. She was just entering when she heard Sune's voice over the intercom, pausing to listen. She didn't like the sound of that, but there was little she could do at this point. Murakami located her Mindy right where it was supposed to be, and was about to begin inspecting it when she spotted Bors.

Mitsuko gave him another awkward bow, still trying to keep her neck still, giving it as much time as possible to recover. "Th-thank you for...everything. I'm sorry I was so...so useless." The Neko avoided eye contact, even though his helmet was in the way. After a moment of fidgeting, she turned to her Mindy to examine the new dent in her helmet. It went quite nicely with the energy blade scar.
