RP: YSS Eucharis [Mission 19.2A] Evidence (HX-12 II NMX Base)

Armory

"Don't sweat it," Bors said in his normal low monotone, "Nearly having your head removed and still being able to pilot us out of there, I think you were a little better than useless. Besides your well now and have a chance to re-pay that guy... err squid, for what he did to you and your friends."

Bors didn't move his head as he spoke, his concentration focused on running his rifle though some last minute checks before he went back planet side, plus from the way she was behaving it seemed like she didn't really need him starring her down.
 
Armor Bay

Sune walked into the bay after making his brief stop in Medical. A quick check with Charisma informed him that his armor was still being created.

He walked over to Bors and Mitsuko. He looked around for Misato, but it appeared that she was not yet in the bay. He noted Citrine's arrival with her carrying a standard medical kit.

"I will wait for Yamashiro-Hei to arrive before conducting the official briefing. But suffice it to say, we are going back down to the base. But our objective is changed. We are not going in to investigate. The Captain wants to see if we can liberate any NMX Nekovalkyjra. So you can plan on going in with a heavy load." He said.
 
Armor Bay

Misato walked in to the bay just after Sune spoke. She was miffed that she stood on the bridge and no one acknowledged her. She went about building up an new Mindy for her use, she took the exact same load out as last time.
 
Armory

Bors gave a nod to the Chusa after he gave them the breif update.

"Thanks for the info boss," he said before making some adjustments to his armor. He replaced his suits flamethrower with an Aetheric Pulse Cannon, as well as trading in his pulse rifle for an Type 33 Automatic Grenade Launcher. While switching out his weapons Bors decided to grab 4 blocks of Type 31 Plastic Explosive as well as remote detonators for them, figuring that they might come in use.
 
Armor Bay

Mitsuko wasn't exactly reassured by Riko's words, but they did seem to somewhat help. Her Mindy seemed to be in fairly good shape, considering what it had been through. The remaining damage was mostly cosmetic. The Neko stood up straight, helmet in her hands, as Sune approached them, sharing the news she'd been expecting. And dreading. She was visibly affected, slumping and deflating at the thought of returning to what she had just barely escaped.

Misato's arrival only slightly lifted her spirits. She trudged over to her roommate, helmet still in her hands. "...he said to bring a heavy load. The Chusa." Mitsuko was quiet, trying to control herself. "We should bring shields. More powerful weapons." She shook her head. "We shouldn't bother with teleporters, or drones. We have to maximize our chances for survival, plain and simple."
 
Armor Bay

"Here is the current plan. The Captain believes that the NMX have a warship in one of the underground bays. So the Eucharis is going to attack each of the bays thus eliminating the ship and their avenue for escape.

She is also going to get us some additional infantry, like we had in the past to help. If it is like last time, they will be fairly green so you each will be assigned a group of them.

Once the bombardment is concluding we will move in. The objective is neutralize any serious targets, and offer any Nekos the chance to surrender.

Murakami-Hei has the right of it. Choose your load carefully. Defense and Offense are essential. Nice to haves leave them behind." Sune said to the group.
 
A huge lance of white-pink energy erupted from the Eucharis' nose and slammed into the planet below with an enormous explosion and visible shockwave. It was joined by other ships in the squadron who began to pummel the base with all the firepower they could muster.

In the meantime, teams of infantry began to arrive in shuttles that hung around the aft end of the Eucharis, ready to join the away team when it descended again.
 
Armor Bay
"Well, that is our notification. Grab whatever extra gear you want and get aboard the Chatoyancy." Sune called out. He got his armor from the fabrication bay and started putting it on. Once it was in place, he ran a complete diagnostic while considering what changes to make to his load out.

He walked over to the rack and allowed the automatic arms to attach the specified modules to his armor. Once that was accomplished he grabbed a Ke-M2-W2901 Aether Beam Saber-Rifle to round out his load.

"Rules of engagement are simple. If it points a weapon at you, engage it. If you encounter any NMX Nekos, tell them to put down their weapons and surrender. If they refuse, engage them."
 
Armor Bay

Mitsuko had never really cared about what her Mindy was loaded with. She'd never put much thought into it, simply taking the standard equipment with her. The Neko silently nodded when Sune confirmed she was on the right track. Going over her mental list of the ship's inventory, she got to work.

Her Mindy looked quite different, by the time she'd gotten fully suited up. Both shoulders sporting Gauss Cannons, backpack filled with extra ammo for the pair. The stock LASR replaced with an ABSR, just like Sune. Teleportation Module gone, Barrier Shield Module in its place. Mitsuko kept the Countermeasure Pods, and make sure to place their vital shield-disrupting properties at the top of her list.

Murakami couldn't bring herself to offer any other suggestions to Misato beyond what she'd already said, what the Chusa had confirmed. She just waited for her roommate to finish suiting up, sticking close to her as they prepared to return to the surface. "I'll fly us down. Again." She had to wonder how all of the weapons fire would affect their return trip and landing, but she'd have to deal with that when they got there.
 
Misato quickly put together herself a “Bobcat” Shock-Trooper load out, though she dropped the telaportation unit for a barrier shield unit. She also dropped the right shoulder's clock shield and strapped a Ke-M2-W2913 Aether/Scalar Submachine Gun there.

She wasn't going to die again, leaving people behind to fend themselves. She grabbed another type 33 Auto Grenade Launcher. "Screw with me now..."Misato said as she slung the duffel with the high-ex in it, over her shoulder. She nodded to Mimi-chan and headed out to the shuttle to wait for the drop. She sat there programing the barrier shield unit to be slaved to the AI. It would turn it on as soon as hostiles were detected, she also made sure to have the AI remind her to use the forearm shield.
 
Armor Bay

As the others geared up Bors watched the other shuttles forming around the Eucharis.

"Looks like we have some support this time." He said as a shuttle zipped by the force field.

Giving a quick shrug Bors went to the shuttle and took his normal seat and waited for takeoff.
 
Sune observed for a moment as his team mates made last minute adjustments. He watched Citrine as this was her first combat mission. It was his fervent hope that the mission would not go sideways.

"Time to go people, all aboard the shuttle." Sune called out and then crossed over to the shuttle bay and climbed into the Chatoyancy.

He took a seat in the front row and settled for the descent.

Citrine looked at her armor, sure she had been trained in its operation. But she had never actually been in combat. Given the results of the earlier operation she could not help but be a bit nervous. She looked at Sune and wondered how the Chusa could be so confident. After all he had died below buying time for the other members of his team to leave.

After a quick review of the standard configurations, she opted for the 'Bobcat' leaving the Teleportation pod, in case she had to medivac a critical injured crew member out of the base. For her hand held weapon she opted for the Ke-M2-W2913 Aether/Scalar Submachine Gun. She watched as the mechanical arms of the bay configured her armor as desired. She then stored her medical kit into the armor's butt pack and climbed into it. She took a moment to let it run its diagnostics, and then then get a feel for the weight of the load. Once satisfied, she followed the Chusa and climbed into the shuttle.
 
Shuttle

Mitsuko settled into the pilot's seat. Again. "At least I know the way there." She said this in a deadpan manner while preparing the shuttle to launch. Of course, their landing site might look slightly different, after the orbital bombardment. She would just try to find the safest, most stable place to set the shuttle down, unless the Chusa had other ideas.
 
HX-12 II Orbit

The bombardment finally ceased, leaving a molten wasteland. If there was anything left, it would be deep and well-protected.

"Ready when you are," one of the reinforcing shuttle pilots transmitted.
 
Chatoyancy

Sune got up after the last crew member got on board. He closed and secured the hatch, he then looked into the pilot compartment. "Murakami-Hei, take us down. Look for someplace stable when we get down, but one with cover from the base entrance." he said looking at Mitsuko.

He keyed his suit's radio with a channel to the Eucharis and the other shuttles.

"Chatoyancy with Away Team 1, departing for the surface." he sent.
 
Shuttle

Mitsuko nodded, taking them back down to the planet. On the way she flagged down any shuttles that would be joining them, hopefully getting them to follow her. There wasn't much left on the surface...she just tried to pick a spot with enough space for all of the shuttles to set down fairly close to each other, without being too clumped up. Or too close to where the entrance to the base had been.
 
HX-12 II Surface

When the shuttles arrived, it didn't look like there was much left. Any sign of an NMX base was long gone, having been replaced by deep craters of still-glowing molten rock.

Eucharis Bridge

"I am trying to find some leftovers for you. Are you going to be disappointed if there are none?" Hanako asked the away team over the comm. She continued to use the ship's scanners on the target area they had just bombarded.
 
Chatoyancy

Sune looked out at the landscape. This was not the expected results. Instead of a surgical strike against the bays which held the ships, the base was pretty much obliterated.

"Murakami-Hei, do a pass over the base area and scan it with our ground penetrating RADAR. Doubt we will see anything significant. Unless something significant shows up, we will head back to the Eucharis." He said to the pilot.


He then replied to Hanako, "The target area is pretty much obliterated, nothing but a field of smoldering craters. We are doing a fly over with our science sensors, and then return to the ship unless Team 2 requires assistance."
 
Shuttle

Bors got up from his seat once the shuttle had approached the site of the NMX base. Bracing himself in the cockpits doorway he looked through the windshield at the obliterated landscape letting out a low whistle.

"If this is a surgical strike, I'd hate to see what a mass barrage looks like." He said with a hint of amazement in his voice.
 
Chatoyancy

Sune turned towards Bors and replied in a fairly neutral tone, "Yes, looks like someone got a little too enthusiastic in their barrage. The only consolation is if there were NMX Nekos present, their deaths should have been mercifully quick."
