RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 2.0] Rescue with a side order of Calamari

Lynn's sensors started painting two large vessels behind the squadron. "Solitaire, we have trouble behind us.. wait... the unknowns are firing upon the NMX."

-------------------------------------------------------

Two ship's like the first that the squadron had encountered emerged, and launched several groups of fighters. The fighters flew towards the squadron, but began firing upon the NMX battle pods. Meanwhile the warships started firing upon the closest NMX warship with its secondary guns, while its main weapon started glowing.

Across the squadron channel a strange voice with a guttural undertones spoke.

"Clan Amaty, some day we may sink our claws into you, but today we fight the Defilers of the Dead together."

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Beyond the NMX ships, the first escorts of the Heitan dropped out of FTL.

"All Diamonds, start clearing the field for the shuttle. Any NMX gets between you and the escorts I expect you to blast it to shrapnel. Ramirez, take point, I'll cover our six." Atsui said,

“Get off my squad channel you alien freak!” growled Silic at the unknown intruder, although his voice still sounded somewhat dizzy. Hard feelings over unwanted missiles weren't going away that fast in his books. He never even noticed the small globules of blood begin to appear out of his nose, mixing with the already hazardous environment inside his helmet.

Yaeko continued her defensive position around the shuttle, making sure to stay with it as the shuttle moved towards the Heitan. As they went Yaeko continued to fire missiles at random enemies to try and give her teammates cover fire to try and escape from the mad chaos that was the battle between the squadron and the drones that she was witnessing.

As the Squadron moved forward, shielding Rescue One, Nobutora was multitasking like a man possessed. He was using his Teisatsu's counter meansure system to hinder the battlepods as much as he could. Meanwhile his SAINT training required him to gather as much intelligence as he could. So he trained his sensors on the unknowns and continued to gather as much data as he could for later analysis.

-------------------------------------------

The escorts ships that had arrived opened up on the NMX warships, for the moment the NMX was caught in a devistating cross fire. The SAoY ships opening up with their main weapons targetting the larger ships, and leaving the smaller battlepods to the point defense systems.

Mean while from behind the beleagured squadron dark red beams lanced out from the unknown vessels. Battlepods that were in the path of the beams shattered into so much scrap metal, when they stuck the closest NMX ship the damage was impressive. Two large holes were punched into the ship.

---------------------------------------------

A group of battle pods closed on the squadron, two of them gunning for Yaeko and Silic's fighter. They closed with guns blazing. The fighters shields flaring and dropping precipitously.

Meanwhile Saber in her wounder 0045 tried to dodge but caught in a cross fire her fighter exploded in a blinding white flash.

Silic saw the fate of 45 as bad lights began to appear on his console, despite his somewhat addled state the idea that this was not a good place to be. He turned towards Yaeko, and shouted “Get us outta here!!” voice more than a little desperate.

Reflexively, Yaeko rolled to to the side, targeting one of the pods as she went. When she exited her roll she fired two missiles at the pod before rolling back the other direction and doing the same thing to the other pod. "Rescue One, you might wanna crank up the speed a bit!"

"Rescue One to 0041, we are having to divert some of thrust for evasives, we go flat out in a straight line we're a skeet. Besides, still waiting for the Heitan to arrive. Accelerating to .3c diverting the rest of our power to reinforce the shields. We're making a run for the escorts." the pilot replied, taking the shuttle into a evasive burn to avoid a battlepod.

Ahead and to the port of the T7 shuttle, fighter 0043 exploded in a blaze of aether.

From behind the squadron a barrage of weapons fire obliterated a group of battlepods as the alien vessels fired their main cannons. As the red glow passed above the squadron it left behind a path clear of battlepods and warships.

"Clan Amaty, we of the Poku Degonjo Saeruo, call you Lugaj, do not die this day so that we freaks may face you in battle again." came across the channel.

------------------------------------------------

Ahead of the squadron the Heitan and her remaining escorts arrived behind the first group of escorts. The additional warships opened fire immediately upon returning to normal space. The NMX battlepods sensing the new threat to their own ships, turned away from the 21st and engaged their burst FTL to rush to defend them.

“Angel is down!” Reported Silic “That's twenty-five percent casualties!” The probability of death was very important to some. He had bigger things to worry about than answering the unknown voice as the shape of the Heitan appeared through a cloud of enemies “I never thought that blocky piece of shit would look so beautiful!” he shouted, sounding like a man grasping at straws.

With the battlepods now engaging the warships in a desperate bid to survive, Rescue One set a course straight for the carrier. Once in range of the carrier, the voice of the XO came over the radio.

"Fighting Diamonds, hold position off the bow. We have a launch in progress, once the recovery bays are clear you may land. Rescue One, proceed to Gamma deck. Medical personnel are standing by to tend to injured, and then you will be debriefed."

"Rescue One to Diamonds, thanks for covering us. We'll buy the first round at the Safety Valve. Over." the pilot sent as the shuttle changed course and headed towards the lower deck.

From the upper bays, two squadrons of fighters started launching, each carrying a pair of Ke-Z1 missiles.

Atsui brought her fighter to a stop relative to the Heitan. "Munkata, Nobutora, and Kail when we are cleared you go in first. Ramirez you and I will go in once all our folks are in safely."

A moment later the last of the fighters streaked out of the carrier and the XO's voice called. "Diamonds, the pattern is clear, bring them on in. Good Job people."

Yaeko cheered at the mention of a round of drinks purchased by a potentially cute pilot. "Now that's something to look forward to." She waited until the all clear came in before proceeding into the landing bay. "0041, coming in for a landing." Yaeko hovered in one spot before gently touching her craft back on to solid ground and beginning to shut down the systems. "Alright, turn her off and lets go."

As 0041 settled onto the pallet, an audible clunk was heard as the pallet locked onto the landing gear. A moment later the pallet started moving into the actually landing bay.

Once clear of the inner doors the canopy unlatched and started swinging up. Along the path the fighter was taking to its berth the technicians from the hangar were cheering the returning soldiers.

As the canopy popped open Silic was struggling with the straps of his helmet, fingers clumsy against the restraints. As the pallet rolled forwards he finally managed to get free, holding his helmet between his knees he took his first fresh breath in quite a while, before nearly chucking into it again. “I-I hate flying...” he managed, taking deep breaths.

The pallet with 0041 pulled into its berth and rotated the craft so that the nose was pointed outward. The ground grew brought a stand up to the side of Kawarime, "Welcome back" said a cheerful brown haired Neko offering to assist Yaeko get out of the cockpit.

A second black haired Neko appeared along side of Silic, "Welcome... ahh... are you okay?" she said her concern clearly visible.

Tarrim brought her fighter into the bay ahead of the others. The commander and XO landing behind her. As the fighter was brought in towards her berth, she wrestled with her emotions. "That was a hell of a screwed up situation, but I'm still alive. So I have another chance to kill some Mishhu." she said to herself.

Silic looked up at the Neko, grinning slightly in embarrassment, he looked absolutely horrid. “I might need a hand up.” he admitted, climbing shakily out of his seat. As he stood on the frame of the aircraft and straightened he stopped, “Oh, gravity works...” he commented before the helmet slipped from his fingers, contents sloshing inside before tipping over the edge and down.

Silic swayed for a second, and then silently followed the former contents of the helmet, ending with a wet thud on the hangar floor. He stayed concious long enough to make a sound of deep disgust, and then fell still.

"Why thank you!" Yaeko unstrapped herself, pulled of her helmet, and hopped out of the ship and onto the stand. She patted her Kawarime with a grin and then hopped the rest of the way down and landed gently next to Silic. "You guys might want to get a med crew over here. He's a little dizzy from the ride." Yaeko winked at the Neko as she said this. She gently slapped Silic's face a couple times. "Come on Tin Man, up you go. Up, up, up, up! Come on, it's time for school!"

Silic was stone cold, although Yaeko's hand came back sticky and warm from the mess covering his face. His eyes were flickering between half and quarter open, and had become even more bloodshot than usual. It seemed the Nepleslian's last reserves had been spent returning to the carrier.

The Neko who was going to assist Silic called out. "We need a medic over here." A pair of soldiers with neon green panels came rushing forward with a grav gurney.

When they approached they took a quick look at him. "Was he injured in battle?" one of them asked while starting his medical exam.

Yaeko wiped her hands off on the floor, figuring sticky throw up shouldn't be left on her hands for too long. When the medics game she giggled at their comment. "No, he just gets motion sick, like a lot!. It probably didn't help that he threw up several times in his helmet and has been breathing that mess." She grinned and giggled a little more, one hand covering her mouth like a school girl would.

The EMS tech did his best to not laugh, but a knowning grin was clearly apparently. "Well, we'll take him down to the Medbay, get him cleaned up and make sure he didn't do anything serious when he fell."

That said the two techs put Silic on the grav gurney, activated it and headed off towards the medical bay. "Hey Pilot, perhaps I can buy you a drink." he said with a wink.

-------------------------------

Meanwhile, Atsui and Ira brought their fighters in. As soon as they were secured on the pallet, Atsui cracked the removed her helmet. "Hell of a mess today Ramirez, but I guess all things considered it could have been much worse."

"Yeah, it could have been worse, but not by much. But at least we only had two casualties." Ira responded.

As her fighter moved through the hangar she saw a person being carried on a gurney. She could not see the face, but the patch was for the Fighting Diamonds. "Shit, who's injured this time."

Yaeko giggled as her face turned bright red. "Just tell me when and where," she responded to the tech with a quick wink. She then turned her head and saw Ramirez and Atsui, "That would be Tin Man again, not my fault this time, the guy couldn't take a few G's without puking in his helmet and passing out."
