Riding the lift down towards Deck 25 Kiyoko gave thought to Celia’s suggested load-out; previously she had dismissed the extra equipment as overpowered and potentially just as damaging to comrades as to foe, though looking over the anti-infantry configuration with a less-biased view she found that it could well prove to be of benefit.
“Thank you, Celia-Chusa; the Hornet’s Nest will be a welcome addition. I shall not need a weapon for the right should mount, however.” Neither the Aether Beam Rifle nor the Accelerated Plasma Rifle would be particularly friendly to use around the Taisho, so Kiyoko would take neither.
Arriving at the power armour armoury deck, the Neko moved straight over to the weapon racks the enlisted group had been to earlier and without hesitating picked up one of the Type 28 SMGs, automatically running through the relevant checks to ensure it was in good working order. While the LASR did have an anti-personnel setting that wouldn’t put holes in bulkheads, Kiyoko preferred the comfort and familiarity she had with the smaller energy weapon – the hours spent on Kyoto War College’s various firing ranges with the SMG left her a solid confidence in her ability to use the weapon with precision under every condition she could put herself through. And if something should appear that the SMG couldn’t take care of, well, the LASR would be just a shoulder-mount away.
Kiyoko finished up her inspection by sighting in on an unoccupied area of the deck and checking the iron sights against the inbuilt laser and light, apparently satisfied she turned them off again and switched her hold on the weapon to carry it with her left hand. With her right hand now free Kiyoko retrieved two extra battery magazines then stepped away from the rack to locate her armour.
