RP: 21st Fighter Sq [Mission 4.0] - Breaking the Dam

Errowyn went through her system at the fifteen second mark, for the final pre battle checks. Then as the Fold disapated and the return to sublight speeds. IFF indicator went active.

As the enemy ships began to register on her threat indicator along with the numbers, her heart rate soared with an intence flood of aderenaline into her system, causing her biometric reading flash amber in warning then to red as some of the NMX ships disappeared from her threat indicators.

Dealing with 1 verses 2 was okay and the planetary defences from enemy as they escorted the transports to the planet base camp she had no worries, just did what was expected of her. Not even during the training/test period before being released to the fleet, they had faced these odds.

Errowyn froze, eyes wide as she watched the others getting into position and paring up. Bunch of symbols and icons scrolled incomprehensile before her eyes as she sat there motionless with her heart racing.

Ears picking up incomprehensile voices of the others as they joked and alerted each other.

Her Kawarime flew in a steady level flight. She breathed in short gasping breaths. Somewhere in her subconscious, her skills and training kicked in and she slowly manuevered her fighter alongside the assigned gunship she was suppose to be excorting. Abit head of it, to be the first to face the NMX.

Time seamed to expand for her, turning seconds into minutes as if she was moving in molasses and the NMX were put in fast forward motion. Then a quick flashback to the raiders of the Akagane in her last sorty with them.

She growled low within her, audible to be heard over open tactical coms. Eyes darting over her combat load with a very small offensive load and a high defencive load. Wondering why she was even carrying the stuff if she was going to battle. The mix ratio was usually higher offensive armenents than defence measure. She darted to her fuel load and it was barely registering the current usage.

Her biometrics reading still in the red as her mind raced over the given data. Still advancing on the enemy, keeping up barely with the rest of the squadron. But each second past with her dropping back and the gunships were slowly catching up to her from behind.

Yaeko began moving to objective point once the fold bubble had dissipated. When she saw the battle pods begin to launch, she waited for Silic to do the numbers before she started running scenarios through her head. Once she heard the numbers from Silic, she pulled up the radar, looking at the placement and grouping of the enemies.

"Diamonds, the fighters seem to be in groups of three, the bombers in pairs. The rabbits are probably going for the Heitan, same with the bombers. And they're going to use the fighters to try and distract us as the bombers slips through. The group that just rabbited was only battle pods, no bombers, and therefor less lethal. They're most likely going to swing around for a flank, which will be futile if we take out the main host first. We've got 10 craft up here, and we're better than they are. I'm thinking two pairs go for the bombers while the other three pairs plow the road and take out any fighters that threaten the first two pairs. CO, any thoughts?"

"I was thinking the exact same thing." Ira said as he analysed the data. "But lets not get too far separated from our own gunships, Munkata-hei, select your pair, and go after those bombers, it is your plan. Every body else, on my wing, lets clear a Path."

Ira's fighter began accelerating, but not too much. He did not want to be the lone officer leading a suicidal charge.

While he waited, Elisto made a few more minor adjustments to his wavefront, making alterations that he felt would help him greatly in jamming enemy targetting systems. He kept his eyes forward, he was watching the NMX ratherclosely.

He slowly pushed his throttle forward, but kept his speed consistant with the CO.

Emiyu's V-8 screen was flooded with data as they came out of the fold. Her radar screen was suddenly covered with red dots as the Nmx pods and bombers came hurtling towards them. Her ears flattened against her head and her eyes turned steely. Damn, there were a lot of them out there or at least that was what it seemed like to her. Her lead seemed to have forgotten about her, flying quietly behind him.

She shook her head and set about making final preperations for battle. She kept tight on her lead's six as she routed any spare power to her weapons system, then tested her flares and other defensive measures. She kept a ear open to the squadron channel while keepin a eye on the dozens of fighters heading towards them. She kept reminding herself that her concern was keeping her lead alive. However, she was starting to feel rather threatened and that was never a good thing for her. If she got too bad, she might have trouble keeping herself in line in the heat of battle. She just wanted to get this over with and head back home, all this waiting was terrible.

He saw that the lead was starting accelerate towards the enemy. Finally, it seemed that they were about to engage something. Emiyu's lips pulled back slightly as the final approach commenced.

Once Yaeko was given the okay, she began mentally planning how she wanted to conduct this assault. Deciding what she wanted to do, she pulled up the squadron roster and picked her partners.

"Listen up Diamonds, here's what we're going to do. Group One will be Loverboy, Tereane, Murasaki and each of their wingmen. Group Two will be myself, Levine, and the two wingmen. Group One will go in first and punch a hole in the fighter groups, Group Two will go in 4-5 seconds after Group 1 and hit any bombers that they can. Once we start getting a decent number of bombers and fighters taken out then just fire at will with a priority on the bombers.

Just as the Shoi said, don't stray too far from our gunships or we'll leave the defenseless. But also, don't be too close either, or else we won't be able to take out any bombers before they get in range. Watch your wingmen; when attacking the lead always goes first, followed by the wing on their six, and if the lead doesn't destroy the target on her attack then the wing should be able to take care of the only moments later."

Yaeko tightened down her helmet strap, switched from manual control to her SPINE interface, and waited until the enemies were at a good distance to begin engaging. "Alright Diamonds. This is it. Lock, load, and let's get some!"

"I hate it when you say that." Silic said quietly behind Yaeko on the internal com as he switched on the fighters weapons and readied the countermeasure pod.

Errowyn blinked, taking a deep breath, muttering to herself softly, "Get it together. You have people counting on you!" Seeing that she had fallen behind abit, sped her Kawarime up to catch up.

She readied her ship for battle, placing her offensive missiles on stand-by and powering up her cannons and shields.

Catching up to Ira's ship, she slowed down to match his speed. She was ready as she was ever going to be. Nerve taunt, high heart rate, determined to at least to keep other's alive. Seeing her dream disapate from her mind.

She wiggled in her seat and tightened the straps once again. Mind racing as she worked on getting her act together. Running through the checks again.

Spanking? Her mistress spanked her a fewtime. But that was not punishment. It was 'punishment. Did Levine-san just made a pass on her? How should I responds to that? She thoughg. He was higher officer, with her past it might looks to Atsui-san that she just got back into slave-mode again and ger Levine-san into troubles. Or was he seriously planning to punish her? No probably not. At least she hoped so. She just shaked her head to get that thought off.

Anne was doing some final calibration when they jumped out of fold. Her scanned immediately started picking up targets. There were so many. She closely listened to communication of others. What Levine-san helped her little though since instead of worrying about number of enemies she was thinking What the hell does tally-ho means?

"I'll just cover you back Levine-hei," Anne said while arming her main weaponry. She was also preparing her countermeasure module. She could use it to protect both her and rest of the squadron and plasma flares could also by used in offensive way. She was also fiddling with her wavefront. She programmed it so it randomly seeks other channels then used by SAoY and jamm them. Of course its reach was limited but it should work and it should also bring down some of enemy communication.

She was done about time Hunter explained the strategy. Anne was sure to keep in formation with Levine-san and let him fall behind Hunter. She was also little confused with Hunter being the one organizing the battle and not Shoi, but perhaps that was normal. "Alright Diamonds. This is it. Lock, load, and let's get some!" Anne heard in her comms. That is right, Anne though. I am Diamond now. And my resolve must be hard as one.

"Roger that ma'am!" Anne acknowledged Hunters orders and made sure to keep up. She was pushing her piloting to the limit now along with looking over to check her wavefront and physical status of the squadron.

Kenshin hit the throttle and moved his fighter to join with Ira. His ships aether drives flared a little hotter as the small arrowhead-like craft accelerated away from the gunship squadron and onwards toward the approaching hostile battlepods.

"Murasaki Kenshin on your wing, Flight Lead. Weapon's hot, CFS powered, countermeasures prepped. Ready to punch a hole through to those bombers whenever you are, sir."

"Orders understood, we're forming up on your wing Munkata-hei. Ready when you are," Ken confirmed as he lead Anne and himself in formation with Yaeko.

"Emiyu, stay with me and keep a close eye on those bombers," said to Elisto his wingmen, he gave a long look at the bombers - small pinpricks of light from the systems sun, casting off the hulls of the ships, was enough to give him that slight obvious clue that something was there.

He was still waiting for the NMX to get closer to him; he wanted to make it that much harder for them to find them.

The enemy fighters started targeting the fighters of the 21st. The threatcon systems showing the targeting. Although some of the enemy targeting locks would intermittently break.

The Gunboats engines blazed as they began their trip to the station. Their turrets powered up and swiveled as they searched for possible targets. The side panels of the Hayai retracted and the main guns deployed. The Gunboats were ready for anything that got in their path.

The first wave of enemy craft unleashed a volley of anti-armor missiles in an attempt to take out the Kawarime. Twenty four of the deadly projectiles streaked ahead of the fighters.

Yaeko's system started beeping as a sea red dots began to pop up next to the line of orange dots on her targeting screen. Immediately she pulled up the specs on their Countermeasure Module. She switched to the closed comm channel for the Kawarime.

"Tin Man, torpedoes incoming. Countermeasures are your job, keep us alive." Yaeko then switched back to the shared comm channel. "Diamonds, we've got missiles incoming. Bring countermeasures online! Try to stick to the Starfire since it has virtually unlimited payload, but if those missiles get too close then bust out the Knockdown and...I don't know...insert some inspirational gibberish here."

Elisto's Teisatsu came alive as the jamming module came online; sending out a scattering of mixed signals and jamming frequencies that would scramble anything nearby.

He directed the field directly at the torpedos, in an effort to spoof the targetting and guidance systems while at the same time he began to multi-target those missiles that were directly ahead of him. At the same time, this directed field would also cause plausible problems with the enemy battlepods just behind those missiles.

"System active," he spoke to no one in particular as he began to refine the jamming field with each bit of information that flowed in from his onboard sensor suite. The field beginning ever more precise with each passing second.

“Very inspiring.” commented Silic dryly as his eyes were glued to console. The countermeasure pod was already doing its thing, a wide stream of aether flares erupted around their fighter, taking care not to hit any friendlies.

Kenshin's countermeasure pod was active and his Starfire turret was blazing with life, automatically firing upon an incoming missile selected by the pilot in the attempt to destroy it whenever it entered into a clear firing arc.

The young man addressed the other fighter pilots over the squadron channel, "So long as they're coming from at us from the front, we might as well add our main guns into the mix and increase our chances of intercepting the incoming projectiles. Just remember not to boresight those missiles, because the pods will also be entering gun range soon-- be ready to jink out of the path of weapons fire."

Murasaki Kenshin oriented his fighter towards one of the distant, fast-approaching missiles and began to let loose a destructive hail of aether bolts. His ships port, starboard, dorsal and ventral maneuvering jets flared from time to time in order to make aim corrections. His eyes kept darting towards his ships threat indicator -- the missile lock warning continued to flash and issue a dull shriek, though the warning for incoming gunfire was not yet active. The moment his sensors detected enemy energy salvo's, he would need some creative flying in order to make it through in one piece -- assuming a missile didn't get him first.

"Evasive maneuvers." Ira said over the channel as he began maneuvering to attract missiles to his fighter. His hand danced over the control pad on his left, and the Fighter dropped some counter measures.

"Returning the favor, squadron fire at will." Ira called out as he acquired targets, and popped two of his own missiles right back at the enemy.

As more of the first wave of NMX ships got into range, they too unleashed more missiles. There were now twelve fighters closing on the squadron and more were following closing on those.

From behind the Diamonds, the Hayai-Gunboats started firing at the incoming missiles. Doing their best to help protect the fighters assigned to keep them safe.

--------------------------

Akemi watched her sensors as the number of fighters in range and more importantly the incoming missiles increased. Talk about target rich environment. She thought.

Akemi then took a position on Kenshin's six but elevated above him. She started alternating between her cannons and the Starfire. "Hell of a party Loverboy. You folks always through a bash like this for the newbies...." She said over her mic as she targeted on the fighters and cut loose with all four cannons.

Once the battlewas engaged, Errowyn settled down and focused. Adding her flair of pyrotechnics of defensive measures. She calmly lined up each shot visually and fired deadly salvos of cannon ather plasma to the fray. Sending it streaking towards the NMX Fighters, and their incoming missiles.

Seeing Ira begin to go into evasive manuevers, gave him room, as she steadily fired on missiles and NMX fighters. Reserving her Offensive missile payload as back up.

Errowyn gave the missiles a nice juicy target to aim for, making it easy to intercept and destroy as they came in range. Her shields flaring as a few of the missiles got past her cannon fire.

-= Shield Generators are beginning to overheat. Shields down to 57% and falling. =-

Came the soft warning, alerting her of the limited time before her shields generator would auto shut down from overheating.

Errowyn scowled as she manuevered against the NMX fighters, not paying attention to dizzying kleidiscope of stars, planets and ships that wasn't an immediate threat to her.
