Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Masako had been listening in on the battle on a private line, clenching her jaw throughout the entire debacle. She had always hated waiting while a battle raged. She was there to protect this ship, not sit around gripping her seat. That thought made her glanced under her to see her hand making quite an impression into her seat with the suit's strength.

Hearing the Taisa had been captured nearly broke the young Warrant Officer's patience. She wanted, needed, to be out there. But it would have been too late for her to get there anyway being sealed up in this shuttle. And it was as the enemy began to demand their surrender. The hemosynthetics within Masako began to boil as Yukari and Amaya began to speak. But then...

Nyton said:
"Shosa, I'm afraid I have to intercede here." Nyton then announced before picking up the NSP that had been laying on the floor next to him. In a quick motion he pointed it right at Yukari and opened his communication window to be seen by Amaya. "Ashigari-san, I believe your offer is quite generous considering the situation and for the sake of our crew I am relinquishing our codes to you. Please get ready for transmission. Once you are ready I will send them to you." he said while keeping Yukari covered to prevent anyone from acting against him.

The poor Warrant Officer was stunned as her superior began to counter act the Shosa. What is he planning? Masako couldn't help but think as even Tom broke in to follow Nyton.

Taking a deep breath, Masako opened a volumetric window near Yukari, but out of the way of Amaya's window. She honestly didn't understand what Nyton and Tom were thinking, but even she knew the possibilities they had if they at least pretended to surrender. She kept silent, but nodded to the Executive Officer and typed out a message that would appear under her face as subtitles.

Code:
"Trust Claymere-taii."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Well..." Miharu's AI did not seem to enjoy the situation. "Nyton is the second in command... and if he has the agreement of two other senior officers, that does give him some leverage..."

"Secure this channel," Amaya - having no patience for the drama - ordered one of her staff, whom briskly answered with a 'done' in the background and then the Nepleslian woman returned her attention to Nyton and Yukari. "It is good that some of you are not devoid of common sense."

Still held by the Black Mindy, Kotori's head had bent down again, her back hair partly hiding her face.

The Nepleslian woman tapped over her console, her fingers flying with practiced ease over the digital control as her face went blank with concentration and, once her administrative computer control interface was open, she then looked up to Nyton. "We stand ready to receive, Miharu."

Which was about the moment when Miyoko noticed that all enemy ships had their energy signatures significantly drop, with their weapons powering down and their shields also lowering.

...and then, the captive Kotori's face split into a nasty smirk. "Ha ha... got you," she said almost in a singsong before she burst into a flurry of movement, amazingly breaking away from the Mindy-garbed Sayako's grip to twist around and then, with both hands over the black breastplate, she shoved the power armor into the wall so hard that despite the nigh-unbreakable zesuaium armor, the titanium frame inside was sundered.

The pilot's torso was pushed to a pulp, with blood pressure rising so high that most of the capillaries in Sayaka's brain burst open. Hemosynth fluids gushed out from the seams of the Black Mindy as it sagged down.

Amaya had turned to track Kotori's movements with wide eyes and suddenly made a surprised cry as Kotori ripped off the aetheric saber-rifle - still stained red from her blood - from the broken Black Mindy's shoulder mount, yanking it off from its power cable with clear intents to use it. "Cover me!" Amaya screamed to her subordinates as she made a run for the bridge's exit.

Kotori was a blurr as she sought to intercept the nepleslian woman and slash her in two, but Amaya tumbled in a ground somersault and all Kotori sliced off was part of Amaya's long blonde braid. Before she could pursue, a heavy NSP blast struck nearby, smashing her aside.

With deft control over her inertia, Kotori tumbled and landed on the ceiling before she hefted the saber-rifle like a two-handed sword and - like a bird of prey - swooped offscreen. Screams ensued.

* * *

As the violent drama played itself out on the volumetric screens, the stained yukata on the bench suddenly rose and shook itself free of dirt and debris before a naked Kotori - standing just by the bench for all to see - emerged from skinstealth and started slipping the garment on.

As she tied her sash, Kotori amber eyes opened and set them on the sight of the standoff between her executive officer and tactical officer. "That will be enough. Yukari, Nyton, assume your stations, arms weapons and raise our shields."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

The wide gamut of emotions he had run through in a matter of minutes, the foremost of which being relief tinged with utter joy, would've exhausted even the most experienced of actors, if it were not for the stimulants pumping into the Raltean's blood at the execution of-Kotori's?-plan.

I don't know how you did this, Taisa, but I want to punch and hug you at the same time.

Before deciding which of the two options to settle on, he burst into action.

"Yuzuki, we're hooked up! Get us charged up and ready rock!" He cried over the radio as he stooped and picked his LASR off the floor. "We still have some coolant left, as well as repair pods! Get that armor under control! Damage control teams, I want you monitoring those CFS units! This time we're not getting caught off guard! Ichigo, station defenses near the bridge and in the subdeck! I'll be dead before we get caught like this again!"

The joy was evident.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Miyoko's head spun as Nyton and Tom staged the apparent mutiny against Yukari. While she'd had her disagreements with Nyton, she had a high enough opinion of both men to not believe that they'd surrender this easily... but whatever was going on here, it was passing right over her head. Only Yukari's glance to her kept her in her seat, and she fretted as she continued the haphazard search for the Urikos. The adrenaline crash was leaving her, now, and leaving only a tired anxiety in its place.

... and then, the 'captive' Kotori started her rampage and the other appeared on the bridge. Miyoko had no idea how it had all happened at this point, but the tension, for the moment, was gone. She slumped forward in her seat, giving an exasperated laugh. "You're all crazy," is all she could say as she hurried to get the ship battle-ready again. The weapons were reactivated, then she passed control of them back to the Tactical console and put all sensors back in active mode, painting as accurate a picture of the battlefield as she could.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari had been a pawn.

At least she had been Kotori's pawn, Yukari thought. There were worse manipulators, up to and including other parts of the crew.

All of the emotions caged inside her — and there were many — were shunted to some other part of her mind, forcefully, which made her twitch as her OS protested. No time to waste. A mission to complete.

She stiffly bowed to Kotori. "Yes, Taisa," she said, and went back to her station. The reactivated visor was a blessing, she reasoned, as it covered her eyes while making up for the broken main screen.

Miyoko was only too right, she thought as the volumetric controls came back to her hands, steady and glowing. Endorphins were lost in the jumble of her mind, but she demanded her OS reduce perceived pain reception by 50 percent, a demand into which the proprietary system caved.

SPINE reception was perfect. The non-SPINE side had been the one to take damage. She quickly immersed herself in the ship's headspace. It was easier that way.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Asher grumbled in his seat, still awaiting for deployment. The Yamataian had felt that he had been very patient so far, but like always, his patience started to wane. His armored legs began to bounce up and down in anxiety and his fingers drummed against his bazooka in equal repetition. At first, his teammates could hear him grumbling, as the annoyance of all the unknowing and the waiting burned inside him. Even with his discipline as a soldier, his thirst for fighting and destruction seemed to get the best of him.

It was then that his mumbling began to get louder, and eventually audible for other people to hear. If one were to look, they'd notice him shaking in rage.

"Fuck, shit, ass, bitch, motherfucker..." growled Asher as impatience began to grip him. They were not waiting for an ambush, or defending a position in cover and camouflage, no, they were waiting. Simply waiting. Waiting. Waiting...

"Are we fucking there yet!?" Asher said finally, throwing his armored hands in the air.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Patience, Westwood-hei," Tsuya mumbled. She had been rocking from foot to foot for a while now, trying to burn off some of the anxious energy bubbling up inside her. Something had clearly happened onboard, and it was niggling at the back of her mind that she didn't know what it was. She had less worry than she perhaps should have, though; she rationalized that even if something had gone wrong, it couldn't have been that bad, because if it was they would all be dead already.

The young neko checked her weapons for the umpteenth time. They were exactly the same as the first time she had checked them. Following her repetitive routine once more, she quickly glanced over to Masako, her cheeks reddening inside her helmet before she pulled her eyes away again and stared at nothing.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Patience? Fuck that." Asher said, biting back at Tsuya, "Shit is happenin' out there, and we're not doin' a damn thing. We're pilots of tha' Sta'Army of fuckin' Yamatai for Yui's god-damned sake!"

There was an audible slamming of his fist on the walls of the shuttle as the Santo-Hei leaned forward, resting his himself with his elbows on his knees.

"I wanna' maul somethin' with my bare-fuckin' hands, I wanna tear somethin' apart with my fuckin' weapons, I wanna' 'cause a fuckin' blood bath on a scale so innappropriately high, that it'll make even tha' god damn Mishhu think twice befo' fucking with us." Asher declared, his voice becoming authoritatively blood-thirsty.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Tsuya growled low in her throat.

"Westwood-hei, I want my hands in Amaya's bowels! I want to wear her esophagus as a belt while I detonate every last part of her ship I can find! I want to stand on top of a mountain of bodies and scream 'YOU ARE NO MATCH FOR THE FURY OF THE EMPIRE, PATHETIC SLUGS!'" Her small voice rose to a roar. "YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I WANT TO FIGHT!"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Asher wasn't expecting that sort of reaction from Tsuya, especially since she had been so quiet. When he thought about it, he figured it was usually the quiet ones who were like this. Still, the Yamataian stared at the wall for a moment, not speaking.

I... I think I'm in love... Asher thought, forgetting the fact that she was already involved with the wing commander.

"God damn, girl, you're fuckin' sexy." The Yamataian's voice switched to one of desire.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"I'm not playin' girl, you n'me need to do some 'talkin' after this is all said n'done." Asher grinned behind the cover of his helmet as he leaned back against his seat. His foot tapped to a rhythm that was all his own. Forgetting all about combat for a few moments, he focused on the pale girl on the other end of the line.

"Whatcha' say, baby?" Asher chuckled.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

The young armor pilot was starting to get rather flustered at Asher's sudden barrage of compliments. It was as though someone had poked a hole in the balloon of rage inside her chest. "I am not interested in you, Westwood-hei," she mumbled rather lamely. "You... already know my situation regarding... that."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Oh?" Asher laughed on his end, beginning to enjoy this. He wasn't too sure how to go about it from this direction, but went ahead and decided to poke her around a little more. "Care t'elaborate, sweetheart? 'Cause I didn' see nothin', I only 'assumed'."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"...there is nothing going on," Tsuya quickly backpedaled. "I am... simply uninterested in you." Her voice was slightly wobbly with uncertainty and the remembrance of the fact that even though she had kissed Masako, there was still nothing between them.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Mmm!" Asher hummed back in delight, "If that's the case, then why not? Juss' 'cause y'uninterested, don't mean we can't talk. Y'know, as crewmates. I ain't tryin' t'fuck ya or anythin'," He chuckled a little bit, "if that was where y'mind was going. I'd just like t'get t'know ya a lil' betta'. Iss' that so bad?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"...then talk. What would you like to know, Westwood-hei? Ask me anything, since we are both shortly about to die."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"First of all, cut that shit, we ain't gunna' die. Dyin's f'tha losers, n'we're tha' crew of tha' Miharu, we ain't no losers." Asher bragged on his own ship and his crew mates. "If I know anythin' 'bout our Cap'n? Iss' that she's nuts. I wouldn't be s'prised if she won all this by herself."

"Second, and my first question, where'd you learn t'be so wild?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Rin waited, rather uneasily, by the CFS unit she had switched the breaker for. Things certainly weren't online, exactly, but then the ship was oddly still. Nothing was happening, good or bad! What had happened? And, to make matters worse, she didn't exactly have any orders. Was she dead or something? Was there an afterlife made up of just what she had experienced just before death? It certainly didn't hurt, besides that nice smack she had in the previous room full of capacitors.

Then, through the nothingness, Tom's orders came in. Well, at least now she knew she had to watch the CFS unit. But, really, it was more just waiting and watching.

She idly wondered why Tom sounded so happy.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Newly-born neko are always losers," Tsuya pointed out, helpfully. "And if you have such faith in her, I suppose I should too." Asher's next comment made her blink. "...wild? I am wild? Since when?"
