Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate
@Miharu:
Transferring front shield power to the rear brute forced recovery of their rear shield quadrant at the expense of the front... but it was enough to accomplish Yukari's purpose of both protecting Miharu and breaking off the Koyryu's graviton beam.
All Yukari's deft maneuver required was a blast of the ventral maneuvering thrusters to have her vessel climb by a hundred meters while feathering the ship's forward thrust to be slightly less than Koyryu's until Miharu was right on top of it. The shield bubbles of both ships crackled azure from their proximity.
The attacks all happened within an eyeblink. Miyoko's graviton beams proved absolutely ineffective against the Koyryu's shields. Extra focus on magnetic resonance also paid little dividend seeing the bridge's physical position on the enemy gunship was already painfully obvious. While Koyryu's weapon pods splashed ineffectual attacks on Miharu's ventral shield, Nyton made his riposte with the ventral turrets.
He missed. With no good way to get a better lead on the ship's very erratic maneuvers both particle shots turned into near misses. Koyryu seemed to flinch and gave up on its attacks, instead cautiously shied in the shadow of Miharu's port gravimetric wing, using it as cover against most of the turrets.
Yukari could picture the other pilot being on the defensive. The Koyryu's main gun was fully charged but she needed a good opening to take advantage of it - going after Miharu's weakened front shields would be too much of a long shot given the speeds they were already going at... so, Koyryu bided its time.
Oiwa and Tamamo sped after Miharu at 0.75c, slowly catching up, with their own weapons also fully charged. Once they were 200 000 kilometers away they split up, Oiwa climbing and Tamamo descending, to put 50 000 kilometers between themselves.
From what Miyoko could tell, communication jamming was still in effect, cutting them off from the Black Knights onboard Amaya's Gate. However, instead of the jamming coming from all three ships, now it only seemed to be Koyryu that maintained that effect. Chances were Oiwa and Tamamo had given up on that in order to maintain their sensor feed.
@Amaya's Gate:
Kai scooted around to find partial cover behind another console that he felt was much less suspicious. Kyou's missiles exploded back in their corridor but unfortunately gave no hint as to the whereabouts of their Black Mindy opponent. All of the Black Knights, save Nimura whom was revealed by the smoking remains of her fusion thruster pack, were still and hidden.
The Black Mindy seemed in no hurry to show itself again. It was not attacking Nimura, and seemed quite willing to be patient (as the defender, Mani probably had that luxury anyways). The Mishhumachina was a whole other matter, as it raised its tentacles and fired as the prone armored sprite.
Nimura's Daisy half-rolled, half-flew up to avoid the flurry of attacks while she jettisoned the remains of her thruster pack. Her armor became glassy transparent and she stealthed once again before she made for a gravimetric-assisted leap over the consoles. "Engaging Mishhumachina!"
