Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

What tha' fuck? Did they catch a case of tha' stupids? Asher thought after seeing his plan having mixed effect. The incendiary rounds didn't burn as hot as he though they did, but for some reason, they both decided to share the punishment. The Hei veered off, wanting to avoid what seemed to be an impending attack before Tom's marksmanship saved him again. Still in movement, the decided to keep moving to keep from appearing a sitting duck in the air.

We got'm right where we want'm, if I can juss' hold'm enough, maybe the other guys can pick more shots on them... Asher thought, before he laid down a suppressive, wide-spread field of plasma on Meni and Mani, before letting loose a volley of ten mini-missiles, five for Meni and five for Mani.

"C'mon guys, we got this shit!" Asher yelled over the comes as his torrent of belligerent weapons fire assailed on their two nemesis.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

The radio chatter between the two Mindys made Tom's brow furrow.

Eve was here. The implications of that alone were enormous, but Tom was fixated on the immediate danger the twins presented.

It was a dark realization that caused flashes of contemplation to fill his view. The Nimura-like disregard for death. For the two of them, death was more of an inconvenience than a finality.

They expected to be revived, and that meant that they didn't care about dying.

And that made them more dangerous than ever before.

Tom knew a thing or two about armors, and a quick calculation brought the blast radius of TWO mindies going nova well over 20 meters.

Almost as large as the width of the corridor they were in. Almost certainly enough to kill everyone.

So Tom made a quick gambit. There was no time other than to try to snipe Meni in the chest with his LASR while he withdrew, backwards, as fast as he could.

"Sir! I think they may go nova!" It was all that he could tell Nyton in such a brief span of time.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton knew she would teleport but it was a gross miscalculation to teleport near each other. "Box them in! Concentrate your fire and force them to stay defensive! Keep their attentions divided!" Nyton said while whirling around from prone to his knees to face Meni and Mani. He immediately unloaded a stream of HE rounds from his LASR at them while ready to avoid any shots they may manage to fire.

"Sir! I think they may go nova!"

"Then we kill them before they get a chance to do so! They don't know we can hear their telepathy!" Nyton replied, redirecting his aim to go for a better head shot now.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kyou's breathing slowed, now that she had a few moments to spare, no longer having to actively dodge Mani's attacks. Though more then a bit surprised by the seemingly stupid move Mani made, there was no time to waste wondering why, so she immediately complied with Nyton's orders, swinging out to try and flank around, maybe get a good shot from the side on one of the twins. As soon as she had anything that looked promising at all, she would fire.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

@Amaya's Gate:

The biggest impending threat to the twins was Asher's ten mini-missile warheads. Mani quickly poised herself to deal with them, using her saber-rifle in rapid-fire mode and her scalar cannon to sweep them all out of the air while Meni made an aerial charge after the retreating Tom. Ichigo, rather than attacking, activated her thermoptic stealth to have the enemy lose sight of her.

Asher managed to connect once with Mani, a plasma bolt splashing over the zesuaium armor of her left leg - though she seemed able to endure that much. Surprisingly, that was the only shot he was able to pull off before his plasma rifle suddenly shriveled into a mass of blackened metal as one of Mani's aether shot had gone through his missile volley to destroy his weapon.

Kyou took advantage of the slight recoil Mani experienced when she was hit by Asher to follow up with an attack from her plasma rifle, but Mani twisted around just in time to have her Black Mindy armor's protective cloak in the way to better absorb the impact.

While Kyou's attack failed to cause much damage to the zesuaium armor through the special heat-impact-resilient cloak, the impact was sufficient to have her brace her legs against it - which Nyton took as his opening. Railgun-propelled high-explosive rounds hammered against Mani's helmet and shattered it apart. She went down, long black hair fanning out during her fall.

Tom fired as Meni arrowed after him, but she corkscrewed around his attack. She had nearly reached him when invisible Ichigo pounced right behind her and seized Meni's trailing cape. In a violent whiplash motion, Meni's charge came to a painfully jarring stop just shy of Tom and he was presented with a golden opening to her unprotected chest.

Going in full-auto, the Raltean fired, his armor-piercing rounds mowing through skin, ribcage, and the vital organs beneath. Seconds passed and his attack stopped when his LASR magazine went empty.

Ichigo let go of the cape and Meni limply collapsed like a puppet with its strings cut.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Hot hot! Shit shit! Asher said, shaking his hands to shake the heated weapon out of his hands. The Hei growled under his breath, seeing Meni taken down if not temporarily by Ichigo and Tom. He looked over at Mani and saw an opportunity to clean this mess up quick as Nyton's weapon exposed her head to the world.

With a blast of his thrusters, he shot forth, but didn't maintain that thrust. He then kicked his legs forward, and landed his foot on Mani's head, the other on her armor. With his momentum and weight, he planned to ride her skull right down into the ground as he landed.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

In a gory spectacle, the armored heel of Asher's Daisy power armor nearly effortlessly crushed through Mani's skull. The Malifarian's momentum left a slick trail of brain matter as his landing dragged along the disabled Black Mindy power armor for a couple of meters.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Fitting end for those bitches. Nyton thought as he stood up and reloaded his LASR and SLAG with fresh magazines.

"Everyone form up. Freeman, Ichigo, Westwood, wedge formation up front. Gunshin and myself will follow up. We still need to support the Taisa. Thirty seconds before we move out. Reload and check your systems." Nyton ordered as he checked over his ammunition and supplies.

"Oh and Westwood, stop desecrating the enemy dead. There will be time for that later when we collect our own dead. I call dibs on Mani's heart and Meni's head." the Nepleslian concluded with a quick slap as he locked his weapons in place and got ready to move.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Y'sure 'bout that, boss? Meni might regenerate or some shit like that." Asher mentioned, twisting his heel into the gruesome sight that was Mani's skull. The Malifarian cracked his knuckles audibly, as he looked over at Meni's downed body. "If y'want, I cn'make sure she don't wake up like Mani 'ere. Y'won't be getting a trophy off'a 'er, though. Eh heh heh heh."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Ichigo looked away from how Asher had chosen to redecorate the floor with Mani's brains. In confusion she briefly looked to Nyton, and then to Tom. "Weren't we ordered to handle these opponents, salvage their teleporters and secure the mecha while the Taisa dealt with the enemy leader? The Taisa repeated twice that we were not to bother with that woman, Amaya."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton looked unsure. "Were we? I didn't receive any orders from the Taisa about retrieving their teleporters."

The Nepleslian walked over to the corpse of Meni and crouched down. "Very well then, let's grab these teleporters. Ichigo, Freeman, access their Armors and extract the teleporters. I doubt these two will miss them. Gunshin, Westwood, conduct security while we grab what we need. We can also ensure these two won't be getting up any time soon." Nyton said while reaching into Meni's exposed chest area. Sinking his hand into the mangled cavity that had been torn apart by Tom's LASR he reached in and seized hold of the spinal column to pull out a section.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kyou nodded, glad that part was over. "Even if there weren't direct orders, it's still a good idea to grab them. It would be nice to know why they were working so well this close to the gate." As she walked up to the front of the group, keeping one of her drones out ahead of her, she patted her stomach lightly, wincing. I REALLY hope we don't have to deal with anything like that again anytime soon. I got lucky, especially with those who fell...

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Ichigo, closest to Nyton and Meni, didn't hide her disgusted "Erk," as Nyton wrenched and pulled at Meni's spinal column, snapping bone.

She bent down once Nyton pulled his now reddened armored hand out and rolled Meni over before she tosses the cape out of her way and began unfastening the double-teleporter unit. "Sir, rather than bringing back any gory trophies to the ship, you might want to consider taking the two saber-rifles these opponents used instead - those look like custom variants of the Type 27s first fielded with the M1 LAMIAs. No anti-infantry weapons like the ones we have attached to our Type 29s, but these are the first weapons I've seen with fields to parry directed-energy attacks like the plasma you projected earlier. They make good melee weapons to boot, even unpowered."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Small plumes of smoke arose from the end of Tom's empty LASR. He reached down and reloaded his gun with one of his extra clips.

"Thanks, Ichigo," Tom said with a grateful nod. "I owe you one." With the threats gone, his senses started to ease up, his tactical tunnel vision easing into a more standard, color-filled panorama of his surroundings.

Asher and Nyton's barbarism didn't bother him as much as he knew it should. Deep-seated feelings of resentment and anger arose in him as the memories of how the two mindies murdered Masako and Kai, memories carefully shielded during the battle, came pouring out.

He tried breathing deeply, to calm his shaking nerves and hands, but rage continued to boil, persistent and unrelenting.

"ARGH!" With a shout, Tom jammed the barrel of his LASR into the helmeted skull of Meni's and pulled the trigger, shredding the Nekovalkyrja's brain matter into a fine pudding in a cathartic release of his feelings.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton tossed the bone aside uninterested in it as a trophy. He had hoped to take back one of their skulls instead but Tom ended that notion. "You're right Ichigo. Their suits and weapons are full of useful data we can use. Come on, let's hurry up and salvage what we can from them. Enough playing around. Westwood, incinerate the corpses once we're done pulling them out of their suits. That should ensure they won't be regenerating anytime soon." the Nepleslian stated as he picked up one of the saber rifles to get a feel for it.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Ahh!" Ichigo shrieked - as she was still working on removing the teleporter device - and shied back. Her helmeted head swiveled to look at Tom and she protested: "Some warning would've been appreciated, Sir!"

At the angle Tom at fired, the AP around had probably gone straight through Meni's skull to stop at the other side of the zesuaium helmet. What was inside it was probably not a pretty sight.

Come to think of it, they would never know what both kuronekos actually had looked like, having blown up their heads before being able to get a good look at them. Maybe it was fitting not to see them as people, but instead as the forbidding, sinister black armors that had hounded them since their entry into the Gate; with Tom's latest victim having been the one to kill the NH-23 Kotori, Masako and almost Nyton while the other who'se brain was waxed under Asher's armored foot the one responsible for also killing Masako (again) and Kai. Perhaps monsters were meant to look as monsters instead of helpless cat-eared maidens.

Ichigo swallowed hard and gave Nyton a nod. "I don't think you need to waste flamethrower fuel on them, Sir. With brain death, they're quite gone and they're obviously neither NH-18 or NH-28." She got back to removing Meni's double-teleporter module. "And by this time, I'm not positive we'll get anything out of their AIES that we wouldn't already know from before. The Black Mindy themselves pretty much seem to be the same as any other we've seen before - I bet they just boarded them at random and then picked their favorite gear to carry along."

Nyton's new acquisition required either the appropriate battery for a 60 seconds of cumulative running time, or a power cable to a Daisy or Mindy power supply to function. It was quite a piece of work, showing a sword-like handle topped with a triangle-shaped scalar field generator. Connected to the generator where the twin blades, which could swivel to close together to mimic a single, massive sword, or split to serve as a double-pronged weapon which each blade doubling as field array extensions.

"Besides," Ichigo finally managed to remove the teleporter module. "Space is at a premium in the single shuttle we have left and both of these armors don't really look like we can quickly fix them and use them ourselves. They work using the older SLICS shoulder-interfaces."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Without speaking, Tom went over to Mani's suit and began to detach the teleportation unit from her back.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton admired the quality of the specialized saber rifle a bit as he studied it's ability to divide and focus energy in different directions. Inside his mind he pondered if it would be possibly to adopt this application into some new weapon. Before he could go too far though he then looked over at the Akuma. "The Taisa did mention something about the Akuma. We can probably salvage something from that as well, possibly the psionic enhancements."

Opening a window to look directly at Tom, Nyton addressed the engineer. "Plenty of time to decompress later. We still have a battle going on. Think you and Ichigo can salvage some more off the Akuma as well?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"No reason to take apart the Akuma," Tom said rather flatly. "I need to take a look at it first."

He had just detached the teleportation unit and signaled for Asher. "Mind if you carry this for a while?"

He walked over to the beast and began analyzing it, making sure it's condition was still operational.

"You see," Tom said to Nyton. "I had an opportunity to look over the blueprints of the Akuma and I have reason to believe that it's fairly simple to operate. Something along the lines of how a Daisy would be used, except that the pilot is in a fetal position instead of a standing one. If Amaya could operate it, it's very well possible that one of us could operate it as well."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Aw, make up y'minds already!" Asher said, riled with the back and forth ordering. As he walked, one way and the other, due to the changing commands, he stained the ground with hemosynthetic blood with every step. Finally, at Tom's request, the Westwood clone grabbed the teleport pack, and kept it shoved under one arm. With that covered, he set off near the Akuma and kept a vigil of the corridor where the large mecha had emerged.

"I wouldn't chill out if I was you guys just yet, two a them Nekos that got away from me are still out there." Asher informed, setting the unit down at his feet and pulling out his Gauss Bazooka. "They flew in where that big fuckin' thing came out, so I ain't sure what they might be doin' right now."
