Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Anything I can do to help, Ichigo-Heisho? I'm no mechanic, but if you tell me what to look for, I might be able to assist." Kyou shrugged the teleportation module as close to being on her back as she could. "I feel bad just standing around while the rest of you are being useful."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Upon examination, the dead Amaya seemed to be wearing a white tank top along with dark gray form-hugging pants (which likely were the bottom part of some flightsuit) with socks and a good of light running shoes.

She had a belt with a gun holster and a few places to hold ammunition magazines, but all of those were empty.

Disappointingly, that was about it.

Kotori looked right to eye Nyton's helmet. "It's too bad I'm not exactly sure how to take advantage of it at this point in time - not with Melisson likely to show up soon. The whole point of coming here for me was defeating Amaya and learn from her how to kill a Signaler, and I have. I can stop burst psionics now."

"Inquire to Sigurd for me on the possibility of shutting down the Gate to close the portal?"
She proposed.

Ichigo arranged the crystaline plates in a neat stack and picked them up. "Actually, I'm pretty much done here. I've taken these semi-crystaline, semi-organic circuitboard-like slates along with their adaptors. I don't expect the other control rooms will have different interfaces so picking more seems redundant."

The sprite tech stood up. "Let's head for the shuttle and deposit these."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Fair enough. I'm assuming we're waiting to regroup with the other before taking everything back to the ship?" Kyou started back towards the shuttle.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton wasted no time to comply with Kotori's inquiry. "Sigurd, from your section can you shut down the Gate and close the portal?"

As he made communication with Sigurd the Nepleslian noted Asher rifling over Amaya's body. A brief text message quickly flashed over Asher's display.

Code:
Westwood, please focus on finding the Taisa's blade first. There will be plenty of time to desecrate the dead later.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Damn it, you're fuckin' worthless." growled Asher, kicking Amaya's body over and continuing his search for Kotori's sword. The Malifarian was going to be pissed if he was walking off this battlefield without something extraneous, yet memorable in his hands. Then, another message from Nyton to kick that off.

Code:
Westwood, please focus on finding the Taisa's blade first. There will be plenty of time to desecrate the dead later.

In return he messaged his commander with a carefully crafted lie, as he continued looking for the hilt.

Code:
Was investigating possibility of sword being on Amaya's person.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Well, yes. We can't just go and leave without them," Ichigo quipped back to Kyou.

They went their way through a corridor and emerged in the power reactor room closest to where they had fought the Akuma. Ichigo sent the heavily armored (and forefield covered) machinery for the anti-matter power plant. "It's too bad we won't be able to take a look at this. I wonder if the tech used there would be different like what we found in the command consoles."

* * *

Sigurd answer to Nyton was: "Stand by," and a moment later: "It is possible to shut down the Gate's activation, but the shut down process appears to take an estimated 30 minutes to close the inter-dimensional rift safely."

* * *

Somewhat petulantly, Asher resumed his search. Finally, he had some luck and noticed the transparent zesuaium katana not by its hilt, but by the way the nearby fires were reflected off the blade.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Should we stop to check? It doesn't sound like the others are headed this way yet, so we've got some time." Kyou paused, looking around. "And it looks like it's empty, so we should be safe if you want to."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton chuckled at the clever yet obvious bullshit and replied quickly if not somewhat whimsically.

Code:
Sure Westwood. Of course you were. ;)

Finally Sigurd's report arrived. Not the best of news but it was something.

"Sigurd reports it will take approximately 30 minutes to shut it down." Nyton relayed before noting the slow progress. "Would you rather I just carry you over to the Mindy Armors? That would be a little faster."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Hey hey...!" Asher said, hopping over to the new found sword. He knelt down by the blade, and brushed away some of the debris.

Code:
Sure Westwood. Of course you were. ;)

The Malifarian grunted and held up the sword in front of his face, so that Nyton could see it through his AIES.

Code:
Found sword, previous point now nil. Please do not tell boss I fucked around. Returning now.

Sent back Asher as he held both blades, the longer one in his right, the shorter in his left. As he walked, he admired the deadly beauty of the blades themselves, and wondered who exactly he needed to kill (besides Kotori) to get a set of these.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Ichigo sighed. "I wish, but these matter-anti-matter reactors are live and the Gate's portal is active. This setup looks volatile enough to not tinker with it; at least not without a great deal of care and study first... and we've the luxury for neither."

Ichigo headed for the corridor. "Last I heard, Eve's flagship was coming so we've no time to tarry. Let's just hurry to the shuttle so we can be ready to leave for the ship as soon as possible."

* * *

Kotori nodded wearily. "Faster, then," she agreed.

* * *

It struck Asher that, with all the gallivanting he had spent that day doing tango with the elusive Black Mindy armors, Kotori's transparent zesuaium blades perhaps paled in comparison to the customized saber-rifles Meni and Mani had wielded... but seeing how they were of glass-like transparency they would be an ideal, deadly weapon for people whom went around in thermoptic stealth to ambush their opponents.

After all, Meni and Mani's armor-mounted zesuaium elbow and knee blades had not been so different by comparison and had been used to deadly effect. Kotori's were handheld, but both also had a longer reach.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton's response was quick although any good humor was hard to extract from the text.

Code:
Good work Westwood. Besides it looked to me as though you tried to retrieve Amaya's corpse. She is something of an enigma due to the fact that she was reported dead and somehow returned to life.

Upon Kotori's acknowledgment Nyton slung his LASR to free his other arm. As gently as possible to minimize what would be unavoidable pain, he picked Kotori up in both arms. With the enhanced strength of the PHALANX and the neko not being very heavy Nyton proceeded to move a lot quicker towards the dead bodies of Meni and Mani.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"True. And we need to get everyone back together maybe bring people back before we tangle with her, don't we?" Kyou followed, keeping the tele-unit balanced. "I mean, she should be harder then these, and they were tough enough as it is."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton eventually got to the site of the previous battle, with Tom already present checking out the damage the Akuma had suffered (the armor was holding up, and the elbow was always well into the process of self-repairing itself). Kyou and Ichigo both arrived into the main passageway.

Ichigo told Nyton: "We'll be bringing these back to the shuttle, Taii, and set things up for departure. Are we... shit! Taisa, you look awful!"

Kotori looked away, attempting to use her hair to conceal her disfigurement. "Please don't stare," she asked in a bout of self-consciousness.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Asher, never one for walking too much in his armor, activated his thrusters when he made his way into the hall. He figured, the best idea was to keep up with the rest of the group, since there was nothing to be had here. He'd have wanted to pick something off of Meni and Mani, but their bodies were likely clean by now. As he made his quick moment of catch-up, he caught sight of the Akuma and cut off his thrusters, allowing himself to sail through the air for a moment. Just as he almost flew past everyone, he gave a blast of his thrusters to stop his advance and have him plop down semi-gracefully on his feet.

"Anybody orda' some swords? We deliva' thirty minutes less or y'money back, eh heh heh." said Asher holding the Daisho set up, blades facing downwards the floor. "Where d'ya want'm?"

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton moved over to the dead kuroneko and carefully set Kotori down. Using his body as a barrier he placed himself between Kotori and the others to prevent them from seeing her as well. "Good job Ichigo. Go on ahead and deliver those samples to the shuttle. Gunshin," Nyton reached around and tossed the saber rifle he had procured to Kyou, "take this back with you as well."

"Westwood help pull Mani out from her suit. We need the hemosynth fluid from the insert." Nyton comm'd. With Ichigo and Kyou having a purpose to depart and give Kotori some privacy Nyton then picked up the other saber rifle laying next to the twins. Using both blade and force he then pulled Meni's body out from her Mindy so as to have access to the hemosynthetic insert which he would then cut open to apply fluid to Kotori's wounds. The blood from both Kotori and the twins was starting to mingle and cover Nyton's armor turning this into a macabre scene.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kotori had recovered her swords from Asher with a telepathic "Thank you," before rehoming the both of them into their twin black-lacquered swordsheaths (both empty sheaths had been secured at her right hip by the yukata's sash).

When Nyton started to dab her with the insert-grade HS fluid, which was significantly more potent than even NH-27 blood, Kotori then gathered her black hair into a ponytail, held it using her right hand, and then bent down to shove her face (emphasis on the disfigured left side) into the hemosynthetic fluids pooling in the Black Mindy armor's backing.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Hai. Should we come back when we're done, or just wait for you there?" Kyou deftly caught the blade in the hand that wasn't supporting the tele-pack, and waited for an answer.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Nyton watched Kotori dunk her face in the pool of hemosynthetic fluid and tried to tear open the insert and allow more to flow out. "Stand by there and help Mara get the shuttle ready for departure." he replied to Kyou's inquiry.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Asher, now relieved of the blades, took to cracking open Mani's disabled armor. What was left of the pilot inside, the Malifarian just simply tossed aside in a black, bloody heap. With the body disposed, Asher looked inside the husk of the armor and the slammed his fists together. Both Nyton and Kotori seemed keen on keeping their blades to themselves, so Asher took naturally to raking his gauntlet clad-fist across the insides, clawing at it with the spiked knuckles until his arms and the inside of Mani's armor was as bloody as Meni's.

"I guess they'd call this blood juice, or somethin', pulp n'all." Asher chuckled as he worked.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kyou nodded, and headed out, but not before Asher made his remark. You know, one of these days he's going to REALLY offend someone with these jokes. Deciding not to say anything to him, Kyou continued on her way to the hangar, to wait there for the rest of the group.
