Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"God damn it!" yelped Asher as Kyou's teleportation sent him forth a bit, which he responded by smacking her with the flat end of his deactivated Aether Sword. "Ey! Watch where ya distortin' reality 'ere!" growled the Malifarian.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Miyoko glanced over the damage to the MEGAMI, taking a few moments to double-check and make sure she hadn't missed anything. Not too bad to fix... but this wasn't the best time to be taking the MEGAMI down, either. She took the time to toss off a quick missive to Yukari.

Code:
The MEGAMI was damaged by power surges from one of the hits. I can fix it, but it will require shutting it down for approximately five minutes. Not sure if we could slave to the Hoshi's C-IES during that. Damage is mostly to peripheral systems, so we can live without fixing it for now, but capabilities will be reduced until then.

While she waited for a response, Miyoko started to hunt for the parts she'd need to fix things. Shutting down the main computer in a combat situation didn't sit right with her, and if Yukari ordered her to proceed, she wanted it done as quickly as possible.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

A bathrobe-clad Masako peered from her cover as Asher and Kyou returned to the ship. She had nearly completed her arming operation when the message had come in for her to move to safety. "Welcome back," she greeted politely as she moved back to fit the last piece of equipment to her Armor's racks.

"If you need aid in any armoring operations while I'm out, just let me know," she replied as she fitted a Plasma Rifle to the Daisy. Stepping back, she looked over her load-out with a small nod. A pair of Countermeasure Launchers for the legs, the Plasma Rifle she had just attached, and a LASR with SLAG were all she had considering much of the heavier equipment had been spent or was still on the Miharu. It was still a decent load-out. She didn't enter her armor yet though since she had offered to assist the others.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Good to have you back, Juni." Kyou nodded to Masako, before turning back to Asher. "As for you, if you have a problem with it, talk to the people generating coordinates, not me." She attached all of her weapons somewhere, and popped the seal on her helmet, taking it off. "Are we heading back out, Claymere-Taii? The message I got just said things were about to go down, nothing specific." She shook her head, settling her "helmet hair" down to it's normal position.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Finally. It was where she belonged. Eyes busy, hands full, and that slight taste of delight that emanated from getting something done right. It would course up and down her back in a tasty tingle. And all for Nao. Wait. No. There were others in there as well. Both Yuzuki and Rin were hard at work. Feelings mixed as she thought about the last conversation she had with her superior. What Yuzuki said contrasted so sharply with how Nao had handled herself up until now. But then, now wasn't the time for warm greetings, was it? She'd rather risk another rebuke from Yuzuki than mess up her work. But, she had to at least try and be a bit more easygoing, right?

"Hello Yuzuki, Rin. I'm heading in to check up on the magnetic-containment for the anti-matter." Nao's voice came out a little more businesslike as she would have wanted, as she spoke while removing the maintenance hatch. 'No! That came out sounding all wrong!' the sprite mentally berated herself. Out of embarrassment, she climbed in as quickly as possible, further aggravating her pained back, and inadvertently cutting off any reply she may have received, perhaps looking rude in the process.

Nao climbed up the ladder, and checked the displays concerning the anti-matter magnetic containment storage.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

With the fusion reactor offline so that there was no imminent danger of a meltdown, though other dangers like a big giant ship wanted to blow them all to kingdom come still persisted to the engineer's limited knowledge, Rin was able to move on to other tasks.

The sprite headed to the starboard aether generator, examining it for any major damage that would make reactivation be a very bad idea. Finding no real damage, she opened the breaker box and flipped the breaker to allow the aether generator to restart.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Switching to speaker since most everyone had removed their helmets Nyton then began to reply. "You may be called to head out at any time. We cannot let our guard down yet. We need to be rearmed and ready for another sortie at any time. Until we are certain the operation is over we will remain on stand by to go out again."

Tagging the data on Kyou and Asher's suits he then pointed out their energy levels. "Get those capacitors charged. I want your teleporters ready for action again."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari nodded and snagged Miharu in a graviton beam, pulling her away as she engaged Hoshi's sublight engines to maximum throttle.

"Saito-Juni-san, shut down the MEGAMI. We will compensate from here." A view on the main screen, through small tendrils of acrid smoke, showed Takumi working through its violent death. Would it be enough?

"Hinoto-san, Mara-san. Saito-Juni will be shutting down Miharu's MEGAMI to effect repairs on it. Hoshi's CIES will be given all of Miharu's vital functions. Be ready to react if something fails on the main hull."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

@Kai:

Nimura returned to Kai, deftly stripping off what seemed to be the knee joint of a nekomachina. She bent down next to his armor, compared the salvaged piece with the gap Kai needed filled and then went for the toolkit; snipping and twisting at it with tools to make render the piece compatible in shape with the role it was to do on Kai's custom M6.

Once she was satisfied, the sprite fished out from the inventory of pieces on hand small data chips over which diminutive volumetric windows opened. She tapped commands over their configuration screens and then had the cabling - both networking circuitry and power feed - plug into them on both sides of the knee actuator.

She then handed the jury-rigged piece to Kai, saying: "Fasten this actuator to replace the missing one at the knee. Once properly connected we'll have the AIES interface with it in order to properly calibrate it for your usage. Provided all goes well, we should be able to cover it with the kneepad armor with no one the wiser."

@Rin:

Power began humming once again from the aether generator. If all went well, it ought to soon be able to power the nearby components, though the power lines to main engineering had been cut along with the destruction of the starboard capacitor and shield arrays.

* * *

@Nao:

Nao reached the dorsal-side anti-matter storage unit and visually inspected the dials which displays of the electro-magnetic containment circuitry of the container.

Everything seemed green there. That left her with the ventral-side containment unit to verify.

@Hoshi's Bridge:

"Shosa, Heisho," Hinoto hurriedly interjected. "If the main hull's electronic suite is taken offline, communication and internal forcefields will be disabled as well - Hoshi is already hard pressed to run the main hull's vital function remotely via a communication link alone, and with the main hull's comm down that will become an impossibility. Worse, the atmospheric retention fields may collapse and the main hull is no longer structurally sound enough for us to afford taking that chance."

Mara nodded along emphatically.

"I suggest we reconnect both crafts first," the white-haired sprite added. "With a direct link restored, we'll be able to get started with repairs to the MEGAMI."

@Kotori:

The amber-eyed neko let out a relieved sigh as she watched explosions spectacularly run across Takumi's hull. It was clear by now that Eve's flagship was now damaged beyond repair and dead in space, with its capability to support its surviving crew growing increasingly slim by the second.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Agreed, Miyoko replied to Hinoto. I still need more time to find all of the parts I need, so there will be a delay either way. If no opportunity to reconnect the ships presents itself once I have all of the parts, I'll see what I can repair without taking the main system offline. She was starting to form a small pile of all of the replacements she'd found, spare parts and the occasional salvaged one. If she ended up too short, she was going to have to eye the Bowhordia data core for some replacements or see about getting the fabrication room on the job.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Aight, Clayboss!" responded Asher to Nyton as he jettisoned one of his capacitors into his hand, and then hunted down a spot to recharge it.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Yukari did not want to admit outloud that she feared reconnecting to what felt like an increasingly dying vessel. Even if Eve was about to die — and that was not for certain — there was a chance they could still be ambushed.

The Shosa turned red, frustrated she would even consider not rejoining Miharu to help keep the ship alive. She pushed her fears aside.

Hoshi slowed down to a standstill, with Miharu just behind her. Yukari maneuvered the vessel just so, and lined its aft up with Miharu's. Slowly, and with plenty of warning to those in the main hull, Yukari backed Hoshi back into its adjoining space and confirmed the positive connection.

"Hoshi has relinked with Miharu," she sent to all the involved personnel.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

@Bridge:

"Confirmed," Mara nodded along. "Hardware communication lines restored. Power connectors in place and resynching systems to complement the main hull's."

"Anytime you are ready, Heisho," Hinoto telepathically added for Miyoko's benefit.

@Kotori:

Kotori left the monitor room and once again boarded Surtur. The mecha was a tight fit inside the passageway and with the battle coming to a closure and both crafts reconnected, she figured she ought to bring the Akuma into one of Hoshi's launchbays before returning to the bridge.

She requested that the MEGAMI open the airlock above and, with atmospheric retention fields in place, she crossed through to return to space.

As the main hull's dorsal airlock closed under her, she froze, looking over the poor condition of her ship.

The sight of Miharu's hull now showing as structural outer-ribbing with coolant, power and HSCS plumbing showing was jarring to her - and that wasn't counting the smelted, scorched spots or the places where the hull was twisted and open to space, flickering blue with atmosphere retention fields.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Beginning the replacements now... I'll let you know when I've finished, Miyoko sent to Yukari, Hinoto and Mara. She then gave the MEGAMI in front of her a soft pat. "Miharu, please turn over all functions to the Hoshi's C-IES and prepare to shut down." As she waited for the computer to do so, she gathered up all the parts she'd collected and knelt down in position to reach the broken hardware, giving a soft groan as her abused body flexed in ways it didn't agree with.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Kyou followed suit with Asher, quickly ejecting one of her capacitors so she could recharge or replace it. "Does anyone know how the fight itself is going? I was getting some rather satisfying responses to my destruction, but I couldn't tell how it was going overall."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Tom was alarmed at the sight of the main gun's condition. His mind quickly went over his options.

"Nao,

Keep me updated on the condition of that anti-matter containment unit. An issue with the main gun has come up.

-Freeman-Juni."

It was so hot that coolant was shooting out of the thing. Coolant levels dipping to 50% also meant that other systems were drawing precious resources from a very limited well.

He opened text communications to Yukari and Kotori.

Code:
"The main gun's about to blow and our coolant is dangerously low. We're going to have to start shutting down systems soon to save coolant. Why is Megami being shut down? I'm running blind down here...

Main gun needs to be shut down, or, at the very least not fired at all.

-Freeman-Juni."

"Everyone, step away from the main gun. I'm going to start releasing some of the pressure from the coolant tubes. I may need to cut it off from the rest of the ship as well... tha that involves cutting power to it and removing its stored shots."

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Seeing that the readings were green across this board, the sprite took the most efficient and effective path down; Nao slipped down the ladder. However, she instinctively tensed her back, causing pain to lance across the raw flesh. Her grip loosened, and she fell, a brief blur visible to anyone looking at the open section of the maintenance tunnel. Nao barely managed to frantically grasp and slip, grasp and slip as she descended before gripping the ladder one last time with both her hands, suddenly stopping her fall. A message from Tom popped up, and combined with the pain from the sharp stop, caused her to loose grip again. The sprite fell another foot and landed, shaking her head to clear the stars.

Code:
Tom,

The dorsal side containment unit is green across the board. I'm looking at the ventral side anti-matter containment now.

Nao gave it a quick glance over, and sent the condition over to the Freeman-Juni. Nao was not a happy sprite at the moment, even if it was her own mistake, but at least it wouldn't show in the message.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Rin frowned at the lack of supplying energy to the rest of the ship. There were only two things left to get up and running: the CFS and the gravimetric engine. Unfortunately, it seemed almost as if it'd be better to leave them off. There was already a severe lack of coolant, so activating more things would be bad, no?

Seeing Yuzuki busy with things, Rin decided to ask Tom about her situation.
Code:
Freeman-Juni,
Are there enough available resources, namely coolant, to be able to support either the gravimetric engine or CFS unit should I reactivate them?

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

"Freeman-Juni, take the gun off-line and take other measures needed to secure it. We will fall back on other weapons. MEGAMI must be shut down to effect repairs. Be safe."

Yukari leaned only on Hoshi's CFS for propulsion, and she did not lean on it much. The two vessels were traveling at a mere 10,000 m/s to remove itself from any potential blast radius coming from Takumi.

Re: Mission 5: Amaya's Gate

Another urgent message pinged on Nyton's priority screens informing him of the damage wrought against the Takumi and it's impending demise. He would be more thrilled at the news if he wasn't already expecting another attack from Melisson. "Look alive everyone. The enemy vessel is apparently falling apart. However we need to remain on alert. We received intel that an SMX force is likely waiting to attack once we have finished exhausting ourselves against Eve. This battle is not over yet." he informed, all the while waiting for news of the attempt by Hoshi to finish hacking the PHALANX platform.
