RP: YSS Eucharis [Mission 5] The Secret Battlefront

After receiving their final instructions, Hotaru climbed up last being careful not to slip or make any noise. Upon reaching the top she took a quick look around and down the visible alleyways made by the stacked crates. She then continued into cover next to Konoka who was on one side of her while she kept an eye on the area they just came from in case anyone came from behind and surprised them.

Hotaru briefly checked her equipment once more, knowing that any malfunction could prove disastrous before waiting for the Chusa’s signal to advance.

She then checked her passive sensors to try and gain as much information as she could about what they faced. Seeing that they were loading crates into the transports, she had an idea what the Chusa was planning to do. She just hoped they could get away from this depot without raising the alarm.
 
Kumiko ate quickly, and, seeing Yaichiro rise, finished up her own meal as quickly as she could. Done, she quickly thanked Mango, then followed Yaichiro out, arriving shortly after he finished the panoramic camera. She waited for him to finish the camera, then spoke up as he moved to do the next part. "Sir, what do you want me working on?" She'd come in very quietly and had made as little sound as possible, so it was possible he hadn't known she was there.
 
Yaichiro looked to Kumiko, as she returned. He thought about the matter for a moment, as he finished the final strings of the simple code.

"Yes. Please go to that console and test out the control systems? Make it lift off, hover around, and look at the images you recieve, alright?"
 
The lead ground effect vehicle rumbled and moved out. Some of the loaders started to drift away from the site towards the warehouse at the other end of the depot. If the mission was to succeed that would be their only window, as far as Misaki could see it. They started moving past on the road, and Misaki gave the signal when half of the body of the last one moved past her, running as quietly as possible to jump into the covered back.

There was no rest, though. Through the fog the other members of the team had to follow, and if one screwed up no doubt they would be found, and killed while the others could do nothing. Shuffling to the side she would help others pack in like sardines between the storage containers. Already the Chusa's extra moments went towards possible hiding places for each one of them if someone looked in the back on the way to..wherever they were headed.
 
Hearing the workers finish loading the vehicles, Hotaru braced herself, hoping that they would make a move soon. The longer they stayed in one place the more chance they would have to get caught.

Seeing the Chusa signal to start moving, Hotaru waited for Kurosora and Konoka to make their move and get aboard, intentionally being the last one to jump aboard the truck just in case things went FUBAR.
 
Konoka hastily got aboard, awaiting further action. She was ready now. She felt apprehensive. Where exactly were they going? What would they do when they got there? How would this end? Would everyone be OK? She had a lot of questions. Against her better judgement, she began worrying again. She waited for the others. Would they be OK? She hoped they would.


She pouted childishly. When all was said and done, Konoka was still very childlike and immature. Her pouting was in response to her thoughts on the situation at hand: Things could have been a lot better. She reminded herself they could also have been a lot worse. They didn't know exactly where they were going, and she hoped the Chusa had a plan for when they got there. For now, she worried and waited, hoping optimistically for all to end well. One of her favorite phrases came to mind: What fate wills will come.
 
After Kumiko finished testing it, Yaichiro picked up the machine, and started to leave the room, carrying it to Hanako.

"You two please verify the Lorath Fusion Reactors are operating properly...they've never been hooked up to this type of equipment for this ling, and we have been roughed up pretty hard since then. Thank you for assisting -- this would have taken far longer if it were just me..."

He went off to speak with Hanako, and show her the drone.
 
Hanako was on the bridge, immersed in cocoon of computer code displays. When Yaichiro entered, she saved her view and turned her chair to face him.
 
Yaichiro walked up, and showed her the drone.

"Nana, Endoh-Hei, and I came up with this. Its controls are very similar to a standard weapons pod, so there aren't problems integrating it with Charisma. You have a choice of laser, radio, or low-power Quantum to communicate with, and it can also relay messages to the team if you choose. It has passive sensors for heat, energy, mass, and gravitational forces; vision; audio; and a high resolution 360 degree by 200 degree panoramic visual sensor on the top.

Will this meet your needs, Taisa? I'm afraid that it is not large enough to house a telepathic scanner..."
 
The Taisa examined the drone. "That should do. What about optic camouflage?" she asked, hoping to launch it right away.

The truck started moving, heading down a muddy road past plasma artillery sites and towards the base at a moderate speed. After a half-hour or so, it finally pulled into the enemy base. It was time for any last-minute preparations the team had to make.
 
"It has effective cameoflage. The 360 by 200 degree panoramic camera combined with the other cameras allow full 360^2 degrees of coverage. We had to install an additional computer module with a Power Armor's AIES opti-camou programming for it to handle that task, however. This is as small as it could be made with that included."

Yaichiro replied, the drone flashing invisible with a laser command from his datapad, and back again.

"Of course, this means it can also emulate other objects of approximately the same volume. If push came to shove, it might be sacrificed as a small distraction to the enemy's forces once its initial purpose has been achieved.

Due to the size of the unit, it uses a small hydrogen fuel cell and collectors with the ability to siphon hydrogen and oxygen molecules from the air or water. If we tried using it in space, it'd only have a runtime of about fifteen minutes. More design would be needed to make a microfusion model."
 
Hanako nodded in approval. "Launch it," she ordered.

Menacing green-painted power armors moved around the base, occasionally passing right by the truck, and the team could detect but not decipher a myriad of telepathic communications.
 
"Hai, Taisa."

With that, Yaichiro ran the program giving Charisma the ability to interpret the probe's signals, and left the bridge to load it for launch.

In under 30 seconds, the Taisa got a notification of the launch. The probe was still below the sea surface, waiting for orders.
 
After making it aboard the truck, Hotaru took note of everyone’s position. Looking around she found she was able to see through a small gap made by the crates. It didn’t offer a very good view, however it enabled Hotaru to see a little of their surroundings.

As they entered the base onboard the truck, Hotaru felt a lot of telepathic activity. Looking through her small gap she saw a number of green power armours going about the base. Prepping herself in case of any surprises, she limited herself to intermittent peeking just in case while awaiting the Chusa's instructions.
 
After having reached the truck, Kim had rapidly gotten inside and stowed away between the crates, and was now carefully taking inventory of the explosives she had brought with her, as the team's demolitions expert. Everything needed to be stored propperly, kept away from the rain for several reasons, the components sealed... it was a long list, that was hampered by the fact that she was cramped in a PA between heavy crates, and the need to remain silent.

Somehow, she managed to complete the inventory, and silently at that. Waving her hand in Misaki's direction to get her attention, she began signalling in hand-code. Inventory complete. Explosives all accounted for and ready to be armed at any moment.
 
Misaki gave a nod to her team, reiterating first that full silence (there was a code in military signal for the SAoY that included telepathic communication) was to be used. Protect Kurosora at all costs. Full non-combat silence. If possible, will place bombs, and leave on another truck before detonating. If bad, will radio Eucharis for evac and hope they have team ready to get prisoners. Misaki had been timing their patrols, and judging where the armours went by taking in the sound of their movements. They had a clear path into several buildings, but she picked the one that seemed to be where their readings suggested the generator would be housed, and slipped to the back of the truck.

Just don't make a sound. She thought to herself, and started the team moving for the next point of cover when she knew they had at least 20 seconds before the next green armour came near the truck, or within probably sight range. She had to protect Kim...Kim was the mission for all of them. What everyone had died for. The three troops left meant everything to the Chusa, but the veteran had to face the reality of things. The mission would either go very well, or get very sticky depending on how well she could lead them through the perils in the infested enemy prison base.
 
Konoka had just about worried herself sick. Having thought of all problems, though, she was still optimistic. They were about to make a great success or a horrible situation. She chose to think 'great success.' She suddenly felt very protective of everyone. Of three others left, she was worried and hoping nobody would get hurt. She decided to stop worrying. It wasn't effective or useful. Action and help to others was.


Now what exactly could she do? She'd think of something. As long as she could help. That was all she wanted. She winced, trying hard to be quiet. This was not easy for her. However, she wouldn't blow this. She was ready, apprehensive. She'd help any way she could. This as almost it. Again she thought: What fate wills will come.
 
Mentally preparing herself for the task ahead, she got ready to move, nodding her head to signify she understood the Chusa’s instructions. Hotaru followed the other three out of the truck, once again taking up the rear position as she made sure she was also close enough to cover Kurosora-Hei in case the worst happened.

Keeping her eyes and passive sensors peeled for anything that could raise the alarm especially those green armours, Hotaru held her rifle ready in case she had to subdue someone...or ‘something’, thinking of the Mishhuvurthyar. Hotaru really hoped the building they were silently approaching was the one that held the generator for the shield. The sooner we rescue the prisoners the sooner we can get off this forsaken rock! she thought to herself.
 
Kumiko finished running through a basic diagnostic, and started a more in depth diagnostic program running through the lines running the power themselves, to check for stress damage to the power lines, and for places where they might need to reinforce before they could get back in to refit. As she started the diagnostics, she glanced over at Nana. Even after such a short time on the ship, she had thought she would know a little about some of her crewmates. Yaichiro she at least could talk to, but Nana was almost a complete mystery.
 
As Misaki snuck out of the truck, Kim was quick to follow. Of course, she did wait for the coast to be clear. She did -not- want to risk the entire mission, or the lives of her team-members, by something as simple and outright feeble as being caught by a patroll. And if she was hit, there was obviously the chance of the explosives going off. Minute, but the possibility was there.

Though thankfully, she wasn't spotted as she chased the Chusa inside the compound, but she never got that nagging feeling to go away. The irritating nagging feeling that made the hair on her ears bristle, and that in her neck stand on edge. The complete silence also wore on the soldier. She was used to explosives and heavy weaponry, not stealth operations.
