New Elysia System

Heavily damaged and burning, the Eucharis emerged from hyperspace in a teal flash. Its red and gray hull was covered in holes, craters, and burns and many of its turrets were missing. The shuttlebay was stuck open, shining light out into the void, and flames were visible from outside through the wardroom window.

Taisa Hanako extracted herself from her slightly dinged-up Hayabusa starfighter and went to the Kuma shuttle to open the door. She found Sune amongst a crowd of naked people. "Heisho Sune! Get a count of the living and dead and then get down to the medical bay. Your green-shirt skills will be needed to revive the fallen. Start with Konoka so she can take over. Take these people along with you for parasite scanning. Everyone else, you are needed on decks one and two to fight fires in the wardroom and crew lounge and then damage control throughout the ship. We got power failures, air leaks, small fires, electrical hazards, everything you can think of. I am returning to the bridge to coordinate repairs."

The Taisa started on her way there...

Nika and Kumiko lay in the power armor bay in the shredded remains of their Mindy armor suits, heavily bleeding and injured. As Hanako entered the back, her joy of seeing they made it home turned into concern. "Sune!"

Through a haze of pain medication, Junko tried to focus on the forms of those around her in the shuttle. She could tell that they were people, though further detail, such as who they were exactly or even why she was on the floor, escaped her at the moment. Rather, she settled back in her armor, slowly giving in to the narcotic sleep that was flooding over her. Oh, we're back aboard the Eucharis, she thought with a flash of lucidity. The thought of the sickbay being nearby was comforting and hearing the Captain speak – though she couldn't quite make out what – reinforced the sentiment. She tried to call out herself, but the clarity was fleeting and she quickly slipped into unconsciousness.

Sune upon hearing his name called by Hanako, "On my way Taisa." He dashed over to see what Hanako wanted. Upon arriving he grit his teeth to keep any sound from coming out as he saw Nika and Kumiko.

He turned back to the others. "Takeyu, take the NMX Neko to the medical center and put her in one of the holding areas. Have the people we rescued follow you there. Heisho Tokuhichi please take Takeda-Heisho out of her armor and get her to medical stat." Charisma, please notify Blueberry that I require her presence in the Medical Bay Stat. He did a quick check of the two to ensure they were breathing and to quickly remove the damaged armor. "Taisa, I need you to take Kumiko-Hei, to medical while I carry Himeya-Hei. We are woefully short handed at the moment. Takeyu is taking our prisoner to medical and escorting the rescuees. I've requested one of them take Takeda to medical. I have asked Charisma to have Blueberry join me in medical. I believe that leaves Blackberry and Mango to assist with repairs Ma'am."

With a groan and a hiss through clenched teeth, Sune lifted Nika and started making his way to the passageway to get her to Medical. To think there was a time I felt my medical skill was redundant aboard the Eucharis.

Figuring it would be better to let the armor's flesh help as long as it could, Hanako dragged Kumiko's armored body across the armor bay and into the connecting passageway, then though the side doorway and into the medical bay, leaving a slick trail of blood. Only then did she begin to extract the injured Yamataian from her armor and place her onto a table. "There are two huge aether holes burnt through her midsection," Hanako announced, "as well as several other smaller injuries."

Victory and Erika, the two formerly NMX-captured Nekos, hauled Junko into the medical lab and began getting her out of her armor for treatment of the crash injuries.

Blueberry burst into the room and looked around at the gory scene, assessing the condition of each patient. The then went to get some supplies. Grabbing hemosynth containers and IV kits, she set both Junko and Kumiko up so that fresh healing blood was flowing into their veins. She tend started working on the severely burned tissue in Kumiko's middle.

Meanwhile, the intercom came on. "Taisa Hanako, YSS Frederick, our supply runner, reports it is under attack and heavily damaged. Shoi Galina Kinder, the captain, is requesting our assistance," Blackberry announced.

Hanako frowned in exasperation. "I am on my way," she said, exiting to return to the bridge.

Takeyu had let out a sigh of relief, glad to finally be back on board and out of danger, or so he thought. He passed through the shuttle, ignoring those inside and belining for the exit, when he heard Sune's order he didn't respond to them but instead turned toward those there. "Please follow me to the medical bay," he was about to go for his weapon, but decided not to considering where they where. Instead his hand stayed close to it, but not on it.

"You, Neko," he gestured to the Neko worker they had brought along. "Follow as well, and don't try anything," he said. He was still angry about seeing those two children that were about to be killed, it really pained him and he really hoped that things settled down soon so he could take out his anger in the recreation area by exercising, or at least thats what he hoped would happen.

He then turned his attention to one of the prisoners. "Let's go," he said calmly. He wasn't trying to act rude, or insubornative, but he was exhausted and starting to feel some pain in the areas of his armor that had been hit earlier. With that he let out a sigh and turned toward the door and started heading toward the infirmary, though he kept his eyes on the Neko and those they brought along.

"Don't worry, we're getting out of here,"

Nika felt the grab on her shoulder as Kumiko's teleportation unit activated. Shutting her eyes tightly, as a intense heat washed over her.

"Wait a minute... teleporting was not suppose to be that hot!!"

As the soft humming ended, the neko opened her eyes, seeing the hazy, but familiar ceiling of the Eucharis. She heard the familar voice of Hanako, followed by Sune's. Nika wanted to get up, but her body was not responding, numbed from the emergency medications, numbed due to the fact that her right arm was entirely gone. Also, she felt a warm, sticky sensation pooling about her waist area.

It felt like everything around her had slowed to a crawl as Sune's face appeared and took off her helmet. She tried calling out to him, only to succeed in coughing out blood from her lungs as he carried her to the med bay.

Kumiko woke up slowly, and promptly decided that she liked unconsciousness much better. Not only did it not hurt, but her eyes were willing to work with her when it was in her mind. She grimaced (or at least she thought she did), and tried to speak. "Where... am... I?"

The NMX neko followed Takeyu’s directions and he was able to lead her into the medical bay without any trouble. She took a seat in on of the containment cells.

"You are home, and you will be fine," Blueberry told Kumiko, with a reassuring smile. She continued Kumiko's treatment, injecting Kumiko with a heavy dose of instant pain killers and then cutting away the burnts flesh so that the hemosynth blood could do its job. Initially she filled the holes with Pico-Jelly, forming a lattice for the HS material to form on. As the flesh become more gelatinous and less liquid, she had the jelly extract itself. The whole time she was also hosing Kumiko down with what was essentially a fire extinguisher of replacement blood, creating quite the mess on the medical lab floor, but giving her body all the essentials it needed to maximize its fast healing. Finally, once she was satisfied that the healing was proceeding normally, she closed off the large wounds with some artificial skin and wrapped Kumiko’s midsection with a large amount of bandage.

Next Blueberry turned her attention to Junko, whose injuries were less life-threatening but still serious. The best treatment involved rebuilding in large amounts at a small scale. She cleaned Junko off, drained one of the learge healing tanks, and sat Junko inside with an air mask (connected via tube) and goggles for comfort purposes. She then closed the tanka nd flooded it, which left Junko floating inside the reddish liquid, with millions of little nanomahcine helpers starting the process of rebuildling her legs.

Hanako arrived on the bridge, still in her AMES suit (and under that, an exercise uniform and the feminine aroma of Mindy flesh). She took her helmet off and sat in the captain’s chair. “Status?”

“YSS Frederick is at 20% and dropping. The captain has ordered that all hands abandon ship,” Blackberry responded.

“Move to their position and engage the enemy,” Hanako ordered. Eucharis’s battle-bloodied form lurched from her position to glide towards the wrecked Frederick. It wouldn’t take long to get there.

Sune watched Hanako leave after word of a ship he was unfamiliar with being attacked. Is the Eucharis even capable of fighting? Let alone does she have enough able bodies to man stations? Well I can at least help improve that factor.

Seeing that Blueberry had hooked up Junko to an IV he moved her over to one of the Autonomous Basic Medicine Units. He told the unit her obvious injuries, instructed it to conduct a scan for internal injuries and treat accordingly.

Sune then went over to the Hemosynth system, and pulled up Konoka's file. He initiated body reconstruction and watched briefly as the Hemosynth tube started filling with fluid that would be used for her reconstruction.

He then went over and began preparing Nika for treatment. Using a pair of shears he cut away any of the clothing she had been wearing so that he could better assess her injuries. Bad and worse, need to stop the bleeding from the shoulder, and from the abdomen before she bleeds out. he thought.

Sune ran over to the medical supply cabinet, grabbed a hypo spray loaded it with a local pain blocker. He then injected it into his right shoulder he then grabbed a surgical tray, a saline IV and an hemosynth bag as well. He returned to the table with Nika. He picked up the Hemosynthetic Material Container dialed the setting and injected a dose directly into the shoulder area ensuring that he injected enough to seal the ruptured blood vessels and damaged tissue. To keep the fluid from spilling out onto the table he then applied a copious amount of liquid bandage over the area. It would further stop any bleeding, seal the injury from possible contamination and give him time to work on the other injuries.

Sune then set up the saline IV and inserted the needle into Nika's remaining arm. He hit her with a dose from the PMS-1 scanner and set his Uno Sunglasses to link to the unit. This way he could see what the scanner was showing him without having to divert his attention.

He prepared the hemosyth bag on a IV stand and inserted the needle for it into the femoral vein in her left leg. He set it for a slow drip because he wanted to control how fast it hit her system. Looking at her midsection, it was hard to see what was going on due to the amount of blood flowing. Damn it I need more hands, wait, the AMTC units. Sune turned to the automated nurse unit, "Nasu-1, your assistance in required." The pink based medical unit slid quietly over taking a position opposite Sune. "Awaiting orders." its synthesized female voice chimed.

"I need suction, here in the abdominal cavity, the amount of blood flow indicates we are looking at a blood vessel is damaged." "Yes Doctor", the ANU replied as it quickly selected the appropriate implements and started applying suction, Sune turned his head briefly to Nika's "Do not die on me Nika, that is an order."

Looking into the cavity he could see the reason for the quantity of blood; there was not one but two bleeders. "Clamp" he called out and the ANU promptly placed on in his hand from the surgical unit. Taking it he placed it on the blood vessel just above the injury. With the blood flow stanched he picked up the laser scalpel he very lightly touched the end of it to the tear and cauterized the injury. A small puff of smoke rose as the vessel was sealed. Sune then covered the injury site with a dose of hemosynth to repair the outer wall of the vessel. Then with his fingers he pinched the blood vessel off and adjusted the clamp so that it only partially compressed the vessel. This would keep the blood pressure from bursting through the seal and reopening the wound. He slowly released his grip and watched the repair, it was holding so he could now move to the next bleeder.

With the Neko in holding; Takeyu turned to the others there. "Stay here, you're in good hands," he told them and quickly fled the infirmary.

When he got to the Power Armor bay he stripped off, taking his armor off and, letting it hang from the overheads, when he checked himself over for injuries he only a found a few brushes here and there but he figured he either got rather lucky or the armor did a better job than he assumed. "It won't always be like that," he told himself as he quickly put on an AMES and hightailed it out of the armor bay and made his way to the wardroom to fight the fires and then afterwords he'd go and repair some of the damage to give the ship a better fighting chance.

Junko drifted back into consciousness, eerily mirroring, to her sensibilities, her drifting movement inside the healing tank. She was momentarily shocked by her nakedness, moving to cover herself with her hands, but she quickly realized that everyone else in Medical was either gravely injured or focused on the business of healing those injuries; certainly, they weren't ogling her. Looking away from others for a moment, she glanced down in the tank, taking stock of herself. New bones were already beginning to knit themselves from the stumps, with the musculature, though nascent and atrophied at the moment, slowly following along behind. There was no physical pain, but the odd - sometimes painful - phantom sensations from before remained, lessened somewhat by the medication flowing through her system.

She looked back up, trying to figure out what was going on. That Blueberry and Jalen were trying to save Kumiko and Irenika, both still in critical condition, rather than letting them die for later revival at least suggested that the Eucharis had moved out of immediate danger. The inference wasn't quite enough to stave off her fears, so, being unable to talk to anyone directly, she sent a telepathic message to the Captain. ”Taisa, forgive the interruption. I'm already healing and will be fit for duty soon. But... is the Eucharis safe?”

As Takeyu opened the blast shutter to the wardroom, dark gray smoke poured out into the main passageway, reducing his vision to only a half-meter or so. He could barely make out some of the remains of the wooden railing at the end of the main table and the blackened wood floor. As the oxygen from the passageway met the flames, a large fireball filled the doorway right in front of him. An alarm went off overhead.

"I think we have everyone stable and healing now. Perhaps you should take the rescued persons to the recreation room so they do not have to be exposed to the mess in here. We can use the science scanners to make sure they are clear of parasites," Blueberry suggested to Sune. She gently moved Kumiko into one of the automated units so it could take care of her various smaller wounds.

"Probably," Hanako replied to Junko. It was a brief message; Hanako had never really taken to telepathic voice communications. She brought the ship closer to the Frederick. Scans showed the Frederick in bad shape with its rear section completely blown apart and its cargo container floating away into the debris. She could also see two power armors, two Mishhuvurthyar pods, and a trio of escape pods automatically heading for New Elysia. She locked onto the pods and looked for a working turret to fire at them.

Before the Eucharis fired, the pods slammed into the Frederick, finishing it off.

Nika knew she was being attended to as she went in and out of consciousness. She coughed out more blood as her blood clotted her burning lungs which were desperately in need of air. The cooling sensation from the liquid bandage did provide some comfort to a certain extent, however, her mind was drifting off again, not knowing whether she will wake up again...

"Do not die on me Nika, that is an order."

The neko blinked on hearing Sune's voice, bringing her back to reality.

"Just groggy... from the drugs..." Nika telepathically informed Sune as he continued working on her, "My injuries... aren't that bad... right?" She could not see how bad her physical condition was, but somehow, she knew she will not be able to move about for quite a while...

"Understood, Taisa. Glad to be back, though I wish it were under better circumstances."

The shuttle drifted below the Eucharis, as Yaichiro had set it to pass near and not collide in case he'd have to abandon it. Instead, he took the damaged pod down to the shuttle and stopped the shuttle's momentum.

He went into the old pod and started to transfer the various supplies out, the pod fully stocked with 75 standard Type 29 Field Rations, 150 gallons of Water, a Star Army Survival Kit (Old Type), a Star Army Medical Kit, 5 Army Multi-Species Environmental Suits (sans those worn by the escaped personnel), sealable plastic bags for waste storage, blankets, and cleaning wipes. He also grabbed anything else not bolted to the floor, no matter how mundane, and put it in the shuttle.

"Shika-Hei, can you get the other pod for us to load onto the shuttle?" He asked, since it had drifted a bit away from the ship. Meanwhile, he contacted Charisma via his IES.

Charisma, are there any critical repairs that need to be made with the protection of a Power Armor, such as radiation or HSCS-2 leaks?

Yaichiro was wondering if there was anything special he should do once aboard before taking off the Power Armor and rushing down to Engineering. Charisma promptly responded with her recommendations.

Negative, though it is recommended to use a Type 31 Engineering Protective Jumpsuit in conjunction with a Type 30 Helmet, as fires and decompression exist in areas across the ship.

Nika said:
"Just groggy... from the drugs..." Nika telepathically informed Sune as he continued working on her, "My injuries... aren't that bad... right?"

Sune was surprised that Nika had fought her way to a level of consciousness. "I have seen worse, just relax and I will have you ready for duty in no time. he sent back to her.

The second bleeder was actually smaller than the first, so it was easy for Sune to seal it up using the same procedure. He peformed an examination of the organs and found no other issues, he injected another dose of Hemosynth into Nika's abdominal cavity, and using liquid bandage positioned the skin that was left into place.

Hearing Blueberry's suggestion, Sune replied. "I have just closed up. The ANU can monitor her progress and if necessary put her into one of the other units. So moving our rescuees should be okay." He walked over to the sinks and cleaned his hands and arms of any blood. He walked over to check on the NMX neko and to ensure that the door to her cell was secured. He grabbed a smock and put it on over his blood splattered exercise uniform.

"If you all will come with me, we will take you to our recreation area, so that we can ensure that you are all clear of any possible infection." Sune said motioning for the rescuees to accompany him. As he approached the door he picked up a Type 31 Science Scanner. He stepped into the corridor and crossed into the recreation room. He stood by that door to watch his charges make their way over.

Hanako looked over the flickering sensor screens at the debris field. The danger had mostly passed now, and she had made it out alive. She let out a long sigh of relief and began removing her AMES suit, folding it neatly and setting it down at the base of a nearby supply cabinet near the entrance to the bridge. It seemed like a lifetime had passed since the waffle breakfast this morning.

The Taisa took a moment to text Shika, "Welcome aboard the Eucharis. Please stop by the bridge when you are able," she sent.

The ten survivors slowly shuffled past the medical down into the recreational area's starboard side, taking seats against the walls of the sparring/workout room. Sune's scans thankfully showed they were in fairly good health and parasite-free; he could see minor signs they had been joined to Direct Nutrient Suppliers before eventually being sent on their way to become sausage.

While he was scanning, Sune spotted Shoi Gallina Kinder and a large troll, both in bloodstained Star Army uniforms, helping each other walk to the medical lab. A small Phod was trailing them.

The fire was intense, and Takeyu found himself innudated. He thought about where the damage control station and quickly found it, pulling out the extinguisher.

He returned quickly to the wardroom, but he knew right now that there might be another option. Ignoring the blaze for a moment, he scowled when he couldn't find a wall mounted phone, with a heavy sigh.

"Taisa, blaze in Wardroom is fierce, fire extinguishers may not be enough - suggest we snuff the flames out by pulling all the oxygen out of the room," he said telepathically and started using his extinguisher, even though he knew it probably wouldn't work very well he did it anyway just in case the Taisa didn't agree with his suggestion. "Please advise."

"I cannot get any response from the environmental systems in that compartment," Hanako replied to Takeyu. "Use the fire hose if it hasn't been burned. The ship water systems seem to be alright. I may be able to send someone to help you in a moment."

At Yaichiro-Shosa's instruction, Shika had gone about the task of pulling the other pod in. Before he knew it, he was standing in the midst of the Eucharis's battle-scarred hangar. The hyperclarity of combat had faded on his approach to the Eucharis, leaving him utterly exhausted, though the contact had only taken place over a few minutes.

Taking off his helmet, Shika took a moment to gather himself. I wonder if Captain Gally and her crew are okay... Shika dreaded that they hadn't done enough to save them. He looked about the hangar, taking in the scenes of utter disorder that was no doubt the same all over the ship.

Shika gingerly sat down for a moment on a convenient crate, before his legs gave way from the post-battle shock. Damn... He had yearned a "real" deployment for months during his Fourth Fleet gig, fantasising what a frontline job would be like. It'd seemed that he got more than he had asked for. Shika hardly had a moment to fully absorb this when his new CO messaged him. He pulled his communicator from his butt pack and read.

Code:
Welcome aboard the Eucharis. Please stop by the bridge when you are able.
Shika quickly untangled himself from his PA, leaving it in the bay, then started to thread his way through the chaos-filled passages towards the bridge.

He reached the bridge, feeling somewhat conspicuous in light of his neat appearance, and everyone else looking like they'd come out of a meat grinder. "Shika-hei, reporting for duty," he bowed.

"Roger that Taisa, I'll do what I can," responded Takeyu, though he cursed mildly under his breath and wished there was another tech onboard who could fix the system.

He hunted around, but the smoke being to thick made it hard for him to locate the damage control center again. "Ughs, it's like I'm walking through a blast furnace," he said. Even though the AMES was designed to augment the tempreture in the surrounding areas, he still felt a faint amount of heat against his body.

Takeyu was about to give up when he found the hose, though he couldn't tell if it was burned through or not, he decided to take his chance and aim the nozzle at the base of the fire closest to him, then he pulled the lever and prayed that the hose worked.
