YSS Kaiyo II

"Finally..." Arbles muttered to herself in Seraphiram as the starship stopped sending error messages. "Set them up, and we'll knock 'em down!" She kept an eye on the Kaiyo's relative altitude to the surface. A kilometer. A dozen. Getting there... The Kaiyo spewed aetheric fire from its smaller weapons, mostly harmless against the pursuing starship but producing an incredible, brilliant effect like a flaming storm.

Vacuum achieved. Arbles always liked the way sound changes when a vacuum comes in to play. Things just seem to get more... Localized. She just needed to wait until the enemy ship was out as well... I really thought they would have tried something different. A full triple-shot barrage of antimatter-infused mass slammed into the enemy craft, the mass drivers Iemochi-Hei prized finally able to unleash the havoc which they had held contained for so long. The first barrage was followed by a second, tearing through what was left of its shields and smashing into its armor. The vessel, wounded badly, fired off a few missiles as an attempt to counter, only for a third volley to rend it into two mangled pieces, the aft section exploding moments afterward as its reactor catastrophically failed. As she cleaned the missiles away with some spare defensive cannons, Arbles locked her weapons onto the non-exploded hull, before visibly relaxing.

"Enemy starship destroyed." Three words to spell her victory, and that was all she needed.

"Aye. Let's clean up and head back to the ship once they get back down here..." Sora hopped down from the shuttle's roof, impacting the ground with enough force to disperse a small circle of topsoil before making her way back to her original relative position.

Hoshi leaned back in her seat as the enemy ship was disposed of.

"Excellent work, Iemochi-hei!" the captain called. "Take us down, pilot. We have some soldiers to reacquire."

Seeing that there were no more enemies coming to their position and having heard from the scouts that there was nothing to be found, Eden called in the away team to form up and soon she was preparing for them to take the prisoner and themselves back to the ship once it was back on the ground. The XO of the Kaiyō looked at the cabin, cringing. At least that wasn't completely destroyed in the battle. The blood on the flagpole and buckled in second floor would be quite the mess to clean up. But that was not their mission.

"Ground is secure," Eden told Kaiyō actual as she looked up to where the ship had departed atmosphere.

Hoshi replied, "We're coming to you."

Clearing

Walter Hyde stopped reinforcing the tankette, and looked up to see the Kaiyo II coming down. "Did that other ship run off or..." His orange eyes didn't have to look too far to see the enemy ship on the ground, reduced to a blob of shiny metals and fire. Under the armor, Walter didn't think much about it, or even blink.

Instead, the engineer knocked on the tankette. "Chlorate, I know you are in there. Come out, our ride is here." The engineer raised his voice, just so she could hear him from within that sad excuse of a ground vehicle.

Clearing

Chlorate looked around in the tankette, the turret ring that was once left expose now covered. "...It's dark in here," commented the drone, as the turret was now stopping light from the outdoors flooding into the tankette. She beeped, hearing Walter. "As you wish," she responded, but her actual exit was rather... clunky. THUMP, the drone hit the side of the tankette, not having much room to maneuver. "Error," she stated. And then it happened again- Clonk, "Error," tink, "Error," bump, "Error." The process repeated a few times as she tried to find her way out, until she at last made it out of the tankette through the hatch, looking rather disoriented on her hologram. She shook her holographic human-looking head, then turned to look at Walter. "I am ready," the miniature holographic robot reported.

Hanna Madsen looked up from the sights of her gun after hearing the finalizing communications. As she looked up at the sky for the Kaiyō, Hanna remembered about what she had left in the cabin. Without saying a word, she turned and flew towards the entrance. Once she was inside, she passed the prisoner and the head of her kill, leaving them for someone else.

The bed was right next to the door, and there within the covers, was the decapitated head of Fukumashi Sara, a Santô Hei who had been stationed on the Komorebi outpost. She reached over the covers and took the head, taking a cursory glance around her before pulling some of the covers off of the bed and gently wrapping them around the head of Fukumashi Sara.

Once she was done, Hanna clipped the now-covered head to her utility belt and walked out of the cabin, towards the extraction zone.

Now that the battle was over, Hanna could worry about putting the dead to rest.
