Psychological Characteristics

Personality: Rambunctious and often quite irresistable, Kimiko uses her "adorable" body to it's full advantage. She is manipulative, and always tries her best to get what she wants. Despite her outward appearance toward others, Kimiko has a very fine-tuned ability to logically assess and find a solution to problems she is faced with. Due to her manipulative nature, those who associate with her often refer to her as a "brat." She is very adventurous, and loves to have fun.

Likes: Sukiyaki, Good Sushi, Shiny Things, Easy People
Dislikes: The Authorities, People with hard shells to crack, Nepleslian food
Goals: To make an adventure out of her life

History

Born a Nepleslian, Kimiko lived with her father (for her mother had died soon after child birth), Genma, and her siblings in a large estate which had been acquired through illegal means. Of course, Kimiko knew nothing of her father's history because after he had her as a child, he gave up his status as a criminal and decided to devote the rest of his life to raising his children. This turned out to be a bit impossible, as one day, while Kimiko had been out playing in the field outside of the mansion, it exploded. Kimiko took a hit of debris to the head, and woke up days later in a hospital. She was then adopted by her impoverished aunt and uncle-in-law, who treated her horribly. Kimiko was forced to soul-transfer into a Yamataian body (though she wanted to anyway) by her new "parents." Merely a month afterward, she ran away from home, and began life anew in Kyoto city. She stole for food and water, and manipulated acquaintences to her advantage. Kimiko, bored with the constant daily struggle to survive, now searches for adventure...

Anecdote: She was born on Nepleslia, but moved to Yamatai when she was adopted.

Skills

Mathematics: Before moving to Yamatai, Kimiko recieved basic mathematics from homeschooling, up to and including trigonometry.

Communications: Kimiko is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Your character is fluent in English and Japanese. She can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc.

Fighting: Despite her outward appearance, Kimiko is quite able to fight. She has learned how to do so through trial and error and her time living with her father on Nepleslia, as well as being a "street urchin" of Kyoto. Kimiko is familiar in the operation of handheld ballistic and energy projectile weapons including pistols and rifles, along with handheld melee weapons such as knives, clubs, swords, etc. Her hand-to-hand is limited to intuitive brawling.

Technology Operation: Kimiko is very proficient in the operation and manipulation of computer systems using the Kessaku OS. She is adept at computer programming and can create very complex programs using a variety of coding languages that are compatible with the Kessaku OS.

Rogue: Because Kimiko is homeless and must forage from vendors for food and such and take things from others, she has acquired a few notable skills attributed to thieves and such. She can pick basic locks, and is a very adept liar, able to craft outrageous stories and make them entirely believable - usually to the detriment of the one so convinced. Swindling, its the gods work. However, she is not talented enough to remove much from anyone, having only the fact that she is young and can conjure up tears at nothing as saving graces.

Survival: Due to living on her own, Kimiko has developed the ability to construct makeshift shelters. She is also able to forage for food and locate water, as well as signal for help if needed.

Knowledge: Kimiko was born with a high intelligence and is easilly able to retain information she has gained. She knows the basic politics and laws of Yamatai. She is also able to figure out complex issues in her head and assess things logically. She has an uncanny knack for coming up with great solutions to problems she encounters in her daily life.

GENERIC OBSERVATION ABOUT ORPHAN CLICHE IN RPGS.

*STABS WES*

I haven't done the history yet, trust me you'll like it, it won't be generic for poo.

Kotori: Looking like a little kid was this character's choice. You'll see. >:O

*laughs* How about this - born a boy on Nepleslia, when he had a body transfer his adopted parents advocated for a girl?

The gets around the cliche and makes the situation very fun!

It is true that orphan-hood is somewhat cliche, if you can thing of some way of getting from A to B without going through a parents death then that would be an advantage, but probably not something to hinge an approval over.

>:/ There's nothing wrong with playing a former nepleslian female. It doesn't make any difference in-game either so it really shouldn't matter.

Besides, rare or not, this universe is supposed to be shaped by players, not shape them.

I like Chigusa's shapes. ^_^

If the universe didn't help shape the players, the players would be chaotic and inconsistent.

And if the players didn't shape the universe, it wouldn't exist in the first place and the SARP wouldn't work.

Edit: Wes <_< Perv!

Leaving Chigusa's shape's alone for the moment and addressing the character ....

We have always had a policy that we should allow very few Nepleslian female characters. We already have a few knocking about, although I'm uncertain where they are at the moment. Perhaps this was so it would be roughly representative of the population of Nepleslia and the likely face of the demographic - I am uncertain.

However the important thing is that this character is 'special' on three different grounds:

1, Female Nepleslian.
2, Orphan.
3, Moved to Yamatai and had body transfer.

A considerable amount of the characters past has been set up through this, and has made the character a very very rare thing - whereas the normal standing is that characters should start with a relatively uninteresting history and make themselves interesting through RPing.

A female Nepleslian in itself is a cause to think about a approval, and that's without the other factors as well.

I don't have a problem with female Nepleslian characters, especially ones played by real females.

Once again, though it may be rare, it's possible. Uninteresting characters make for dull, uninteresting roleplay.

Edit: Thanks Wes. At least someone agrees with me. D:

I've never found that.

The most unflamboyant character sheet can yield wonderful results in RP - because of the skill of the RPer rather than the 'interesting' nature/history of the character.

I disagree with "uninteresting" histories. They should not have ones that make the character overpowered or unjustifiable. But interesting is cool.

And Wes ... are we saying that women can play Nep female characters where for at least a year men could not? I don't understand.

Keep in mind this is Chigusa's third character, not her first. She's also making it to help a fellow RPer out.
