The Nozomi is not really working like it should, partly because of Seki and Mia no longer being online anymore, and partly because of the influx of new people, whose characters don't really fit in at all. I'm also kind of irritated that I've pretty much been forced to assign characters to the Nozomi that probably should not be there, since Yui was hand-picking the crews.

The new crowd of characers seems to be very combat-oriented and despite the fact that yes, the Star Army is a military, and yes, SA is at war, the Nozomi is not a ship of the line and does not perform a lot of combat missions. Instead, the Nozomi tends to do diplomatic tasks and exploration; that's why it's the social/romance ship.

Because of the above reasons, I think we should create a new starship. Whether or not the Nozomi goes on as a plot RP remains to be determined. The new RP is going to have to be a bigger ship, more combat-oriented, and I'm thinking probably play-by-post, since that seems to be the thing these days. Getting together online just seems to be not working out these days.

Thoughts?

So the whole plot revolved and required some female to be there? ....*laughs*

And there is nothing wrong with being combat oriented, if you separate people on that basis, you're playing the stereotype that all combat specialists are big dumb lunkheads who can't bear the social niceties and you're putting the Nozomi into combat situations. Hence people who want to RP there create combat oriented characters. How about you pull the ship back and have it evade combat like it was the black death? That might help.

And what you say about not getting together is wrong. It sounds like you're downing people who are in school, work, or enjoy things other than online RP. I know you don't mean to but that is what it sounds like to me.

How about we keep trying to make Nozomi work for another week or two? And make a list of what needs to be done and post it for everyone to see, because with how busy people are they might forget if you simply mention it.

No, it required people who are active. Our active people have other commitments.

No, it's that they're not useful.

How about no? It's a military ship. It's only done one short combat mission, and two diplomatic missions.

And what you say about not getting together is wrong. It sounds like you're downing people who are in school, work, or enjoy things other than online RP. I know you don't mean to but that is what it sounds like to me.
Don't you think it makes sense that people who RP less are less involved in RP?

How about we keep trying to make Nozomi work for another week or two?
With all the new character, it's better to start a new ship rather than continue the same plot with what is essentially an all-new cast.

You will have the same problem if you start a new ship with a new cast or if you keep the current ship or even go over to just the Celia. You have a plot and no one is at the helm to drive it.

You have several active role players on the Nozomi, Tyler and I are on almost all the time. My problem with the Nozomi RP is JPs are either at unreasonable times because your trying to get everyone to RP at the same time or I am simply not told about JPs when I am on.

So to improve the quality of roleplay on the site the plots need more direction and JPs should be attempted whenever 2 or more people happen to be on at the same time.

My two cents probably doesn't count. But i'm gonna have to agree here. Just because my character is soemwhat combat oriented doesn't mean he can't do social activities. And I have the same problem of being at work when jps are assigned or not being told at all. I've been posting my schedule so people can look at it and get an idea of when i'm available, but so far nothign has come of it.

Give board RP a try. It sounds like you guys are having scheduling problems.

I'm personally partial to having new players start out on non-combat plots, but that's just because that's how I got started here.

Just to prove a point, the nozomi RP's JP titled: Disjointed Viewpoints was posted on febuary 17th. It totaled 2816 words. The Ohara RP thread sense febuary 17 totals only 990 words.

Measureing by words posted the Celia is less active than the Nozomi RP and if you don't want to measure by words you do have to admit that the Celia isn't going anywhere fast. If you created another play by post RP or play by JP RP ship or even moved everyone to the Celia you would still have the same problems you are having with the Nozomi.

I used to see at least one JP a day or failing that at least one solo post. If you want activity like that your going to have to work for it and put some effort into the ship RP.

And because I went through the trouble to make those statistics

The Celia ohara RP length in total sense its start: 3713 words

Ohara after febuary 17: 990 words

Disjointed, posted febuary 17: 2816 words

Reunion + Disjointed posts from the nozomi (both started after the ohara thread): 4551 words

Zack has a point, RP is like love, you only get what you put into it (no innuendo suggested). And well people, myself included, have been half assing posts for Nozomi. Namely because I don't like to push people into things if they don't have the time for it. and such.

Well, I'm thinking what we need is a new plot and a new ship, something fresh. The current Nozomi doesn't have the feel I wanted, that it had earlier.

So, what do YOU guys want from a plot?

Relatively stressless if possible. combat oriented RP really isn't interesting for me anymore. I find myself preferring socially oriented RP with chances for romance and real attachments instead of those forged in the spur of the moment with no real emotion behind it. I guess Rping with a certain friend has spoiled me to that genre.

Fresh meat is no good in a broken grinder

As far as what I want in RP, I just want to set some characters in motion and see what happens. Watching them develop is great fun but you need a fully dynamic enviroment to see that happen.

I always said I've thought many of the social-oriented posts at SA are largely irrelevant. People make it sound like there's two extremes, social and combat, and there's no combination to speak of. I think you should combine those two, and maybe you can attract people from each side.

You know, I must just be spoiled from all the starwars rp I do on ezboard, but I like that stuff. I like post by post rp. Don't get me wrong, the jp is cool and all, i used to do those on talk city, but I'm more used to post by post. And I like what the gungan council does with their starwars rpg. It's social with combat. It's like what starwars is. It has all the emotional and social attachments, and in the heat of the moment you have the battles.

So i guess what I'm trying and fialing horribly to say is, I wanna see both. I mean, rp is supposed to be playing a character. Playing out their life. And in any military there is social contact, romance, parties, etc. But when the going gets tough, you gotta strap on that power armor and kick some butt. I mean this is supposed to be a military-esque rpg..so..yeah..both..if that's an option.

Of course there should be a mixture...but when I had the Nozomi go into a combat situation, I got crap from people like "but my character's a diplomat!"

And that's their right. According to the first amendment, people can say what they want. As long as it doesn't slander anyone it's ok. you dun have to like it but it's their right.

Well, that's totally irrelevant. Anything more that has to do with the topic you'd like to bring to the table?

but I'm more used to post by post.
The Celia is play by post. If you'd like to try it out, you can create another character to play on the Celia, or transfer your Nozomi character there. Ask me if you need any help.

Well, that's totally irrelevant.

I was going to say that but I hesitated because he'd probably think I was attacking him or something. But that really has no point at all. Besides, that's the situation Wes is trying to fix, Tyler.

Wes was here.

*growls* Apparently it does not matter what I say because what I wish to see shall never come to fruition in this RP. Because of the militaristic nature of it, so thus, I shall not speak of what I wish to see.
