Nepleslian News Network [NNN] Rok'Veru Planetary House Candidate Arrested

The standard stars, garish colors, barely-dressed women, and heavy metal kicked off the Nepleslian news cast, giving way to the also-standard attractive blonde anchorwoman in white and with a sizable bust.

"Today, the Rok'Veru planetary house preliminary elections heated up today as the incumbent from the Rhine district, Walter Runzberg, was arrested by both planetary police and Intelligence Pacification Group officers."

The space behind and to the right of the achorwoman's head turned to a photograph of the candidate, surrounded by what appeared to be both campaign staff, several very pudgy, and very scantily-dressed dwarf women who looked somewhat distressed, and police, all in a very nice hotel lobby, which just happened to be partially on fire.

He was wearing a very nice suit, although the niceness and value seemed to be somewhat negated by the fact that the jacket seemed to be tied around his neck in the fashion of a cape, his silk tie had been made into a makeshift headband, his slacks had been sliced to neat ribbons beneath the knees, and his dress shirt had disappeared somewhere, leaving an undershirt that was visibly stained dark brown and yellow. The men and women around him seemed to be doing their best not to look at or smell him. He was also very obviously extremely intoxicated.

"The representative was arrested today at the Yeamon Inn after a small gathering between himself and several friends received a noise complaint from an elderly couple next door at about 6:30 PM local time. Shortly after the SWAT teams had finished clearing the room, police officers and IPG officials made an official arrest."

The picture changed from the Senator to the outside of the building. A timestamp revealed it to have been taken at about 6:26. It showed a full wing of the hotel, and one room happened to stand out, possibly because a flagpole was protruding from it with a burning dress shirt tied to the end. Although not much of the room was visible from the angle of the picture, it appeared as though the ceiling was more or less caked in a thick brown substance, and that there was a fair amount of fire indoors.

"Mr. Runzberg was wanted due to an illegal cloning ring working under his campaign for re-election. Police officials had been tracking the activities of the ring for some time before Mr. Runzberg became involved, and were able to link them to the seemingly endless supply of midgets his campaign employed."

The picture changed once more to Runzberg in the midst of an all-midget marching band, waving and smiling to the crowds around him.

"Following his arrest, police raided the representative's estate and discovered several pieces of illegally-obtained unregistered cloning equipment, as well as several DNA templates and plenty of biomass for producing further clones."

A photo of a large, stately manner appeared. Arrayed on the front lawn, and surrounded by police, were several large pieces of machinery, most of them cloning tanks. In the backround were several dozen stacked bags of fine white powder.

"Under the Universal Protection Act, the clones being produced by and for Mr. Runzberg are illegal, as according to several members of the campaign staff, Mr. Runzberg did not pay them in any other form than pork rinds. Due to this, the representative will be facing an extremely sizable fine, with a two million DA fine per clone, with several hundred clones produced."

"Mr. Runzberg has received substantial criticism in the past due to his rather garish, and at some times depraved, campaign, which he has unnecessarily chosen to begin over a year before elections begin. Imperium Senator Ioannes Calero has demanded his ejection from the Rok'Veru planetary house, calling him, quote, 'A disgrace to Nepleslian politics, and a stain on the face of Nepleslia'."

"Following Mr. Runzberg's arrest, police, in conjunction with the IPG, will continue to investigate, and hopefully dissolve, the cloning ring. Remember to see more about this story, and other breaking news, on our InterNEP site. Good Night, and thank you for watching the Nepleslian News Network."

The Anchorwoman disappeared, replaced by more bright green, blue, and white and plenty of heavy metal music as the broadcast ended.
