NovaCorp Personnel Civilian Shuttle

Inactive Member
Alright, this is my attempt to go through some designs I have, modifying them to the new layout, and attaching prices (always a sorespot with me). Here's the first instalment, don't pull your punches 😉

NovaCorp Shipyards
No-PCS-01 ‘Mucoyi' Personal Civilian Shuttle

Price: 16,000 ks

1. About the Mucoyi
To get a niche in the market the counsel that controls NovaCorp decided to produce small civilian ships, hoping to gain a foothold in that end of the market. As a result the first NovaCorp Mucoyi Personal Civilian Shuttle was produced. It is run from the pilot's department, where as the passengers sit in the back.

2. History and Background
The Mucoyi was designed early in YE 28 by a research and production of NovaCorp department, along with its two larger cousins the No-PCS-02 and 03.

3. Dimensions and Crew Compliment
Organizations Using This Vessel:
Designed for personal use, it is still available for use by organizations
Type: Personal Civilian Shuttle
Class: Mucoyi
Person or organization that designed the ship.
Manufacturer: NovaCorp shipyards
Production: Significant by the Hephaestus Fleetyards

Crew: 1
Maximum Capacity: 5 (4 passangers)
Appearance: Square like with rounded edges, exit through arch in the back.

Length: 15m
Width: 4m
Height: 3m
Decks: 1

4. Performance Statistics
Speed (STL): 0.4c (gravitic drive)
Speed (FTL): 1000c (CDD)
Speed (Aerial): Mach 3
Speed (Water): Doesn't go underwater

Range (Distance): However far it can travel in 2 months
Range (Support): The food suply can last 2 months, as can the air and water supplies.
Lifespan: 15 years
Refit Cycle: The Mucoyi does not need refits, but should be seen to every 6 months

5. Inside the Mucoyi
Pilot's compartment: The Pilot's compartment is a simple cockpit with simplistic controls, a view screen, and a single comfortable swivel-chair. The controls are in the form of a panel surrounding the chair. The autopilot can be engaged from here.

Passenger compartment: The passenger compartment is a room with two long seats down the side, which fold out to become two double beds. Intimacy is ensured (if required), by a foam barrier between the two parts of the bed. The passenger compartment also has a foldout table, and compartments for a variety of games to pass the time. Included in this is a fold out screen with access to the computers database of movies. Personal luggage can be stored in the racks above the seats.

Storage compartment: For the more long term storage, these two compartments are on either side of the passenger compartment and at the back. On the right coming in through the hatch.

Food dispenser: This is the area where the food dispenser is (detailed under systems). If not needed it can be replaced with extra luggage space, with food as ration packs kept on the racks.

6. Ship Systems

Hull: The hull is made of a foamed titanium-tungsten alloy.
Hatch: The hatch entrance to the Mucoyi is air-tight, meaning that air will not escape, even in a vacuum. It is opened by a hit pad on the side of the hatch.

Shields: The energy shields on the Mucoyi are not there to protect the ship from attack, but to protect it from interstellar dust, which could severely damage the vessel. It can work against low powered weapons though. It uses a directional defelctor kinetic shield. It can also use a gravitic shield utilising its gravitic drive.

Environmental Systems: The Mucoyi has effective recycling systems for water and oxygen. They utilise specialised catalysts, enzymes and some highly basic nano-machines.

Air Recycling System: The air recycling system is efficient, and air only needs to be replaced every two months. It uses a specialy designed catalyst to split carbon dioxide into oxygen and carbon.

Food dispenser: The food dispenser carries enough food to feed five people for two months. The food is not interesting, but nutritious and filling.

Sensor and Computer Systems: The Mucoyi is equipped with basic sensor systems, and a computer capable of navigating, and auto-piloting.

Communications: The Mucoyi has subspace, radio and laser communication.

The Mucoyi is not armed, as it is a civilian ship.
You don't have a description of the ship's FTL drive.

Also, a shuttle wouldn't need to support occupants for periods of months at a time. I would lower that feature or get rid of the food supply altogether.

Also, describe what type of shields are used. From the looks of it I would think you would only have a forward facing defector shield that projects a kinetic barrier.

Feel free to explain how your environmental system works either with or without nanomachine as those are now a restricted technology.
That law hasn't passed yet.

However, I will begin to make the recomended changes to shields and recycling systems.
There was a motion that Novacorp could use restricted technologies, so whether the proposal is passed or not, I don't think you have to worry about it.
Oh, wait! if that passes you can just put in a TTD and be done with it.

Besides, NC could use it, the people they sell it to can't. That would make the entire shuttle worthless to anyone but NC.
I personally would like to see a shuttle with hyperspace jump capability. Right now, the only way for the Celia to get new crew is to either wait for a re-supply ship or get one of the Yuis to do a personal pick-up, which is really inconvenient. A shuttle with a hyperspace drive can bring in new crewmembers so much more efficiently.
Let's say... not including the pilots, around 6 to 8 people with light combat gear (rifles and flak jacket), or around 2 people with heavy combat gear (Lamia armor, machine guns). That seems to be the norm for shuttles. (Not a civilian shuttle anymore, obviously.)
The shuttle would have to have a lot of room for the hyperspace drive. Currently, the smallest ones are about the size of a disco ball four feet in diameter.
In the design I'm drawing up (not literaly drawing because I have the drawing abilities of a two year old) there is a lot of space set asside for the Hyperspacial fold drive.

Since this ship would be fore the SA's use, can I fit it with an aetheric beam or should I stick to NovaCorps high energy Xasers?
oooOOOooo... I like the way this is going. Yeah, NC does need to chuck out some shuttley stuff, so good going Tom ^_^

btw, call the high energy xasers "HEX" weapons. sounds better xD

Arming the shuttle will move NC out of the 'nich' it is trying to get a foothold in. Either keep it a civillian shuttle or change your 'About the Mucoyi' part and referances to being a civillian ship.
