[NSMC 309th] Mission 3: Hope Bringer

Soko Neko

Juno was alive but definitely in some rough shape to put it very gently; it didn't take much to find out his leg wasn't in a bad spot or at risk of being lost from pulling on him. But it did highlight a bigger problem; specifically that he was so much larger than the others. The large-framed officer was probbly more dead-weight than their unmodified, wholesome Nepleslian frames could carry.

While both of the pair in the main section of the tank set to preparing to leave however, their driver was exposing her head to the world. The still stationary tank hadn't begun drawing fire or anything but it wasn't necessarily clear either. There were still plenty of mines scattered around and even her whispering doll couldn't predict all of it. But she did hear the sweet whispers of Hanako supreme.

"Save the meatshields, my child."

As if on cue, she'd see Joe poking his head out... and hear the murmuring distance calling of the enemies preparing to do something.

Hillside + Kinda Down The Hill Where Small Things Sprint

The path down toward the tank was one of perilous ventures for a mouse but not as much for the mouse; her cheesing mannerisms proved useful for skirting death. Each lump of non-detonated demise she passed without fat-toeing a trigger was a godsend. But it also meant she - much like her spirit animal - was walking into a trap. The silent, immobilized beast was only a temporary shelter for her to slip up to. The big shield around it was still somehow powered but it was uncertain just how long that would last with the waning power from the beast likely being liquidated by the second.

She could also see a disheveled hermit tank-driver and an armorbat poking his head out in search for danger. And the group if nearly ten or so pirates in the nearby distance amassing... with more coming up from the rear flank.

If only they were full strength... or if they had the biggest muscle girls ready to fight. Or their maniacally laughing killer floating around the battlefield. Then they could REALLY give it to them... but right now it looked like they had a bloody nose and would have to just deal with it.

Fitz still couldn't wrap her head around everything, but she knew the shock would wear off, but in the mean time they were sitting ducks. With Joe checking outside she was able to give Juno her own once over. "You're just gonna have to grit your teeth and bare it big guy." After those words she reached out with her left arm and pulled Juno upright. He was a big man, but with Ftiz' cybernetics she could at least drag him upright. And once Joe was ut she worked at hoisting the commander out while Joe hopefully covered them.

Target fixation hid mostly everything from Minnie as she kept a dead sprint towards the tank. If she had tread on a mine or even run past someone she was oblivious. Her HUD spammed her with inconsequential data to the point of blinding her to anything else as known statistical data ran infront of her eyes on the last known status of the crew while she passed through the tanks obscuring IR and lock breaking smokescreen. There was little concern about being improperly PID'd by the tankies at large because the thought simply never crossed her mind. By the time she reached the tank itself within its own protective bubble of countermeasures and into its shadow to cover, She finally let out a breath she hadnt known she was holding.

"Friendlies!" she shouted, Sounding a lot weaker than she intended as she banged once and then twice and then a third for good measure to alert her presence. The last thing she needed was one of the crew; Likely Ella, Panicking and blind firing her, Golem armor or not.

With some effort only just realising how exhausted she was she scaled the flank of the tank, Taking stock of Larson and then Ella peaking from their hatches.

"Out!" She gestured to the two, Fearful of the tank cooking off before scaling the outer turret and looming over the tanks commander hatch, Its engine kill safety features having blown open the hatch like most tanks to get the crew out before it turned into a fiery mess.

Minnie blanched. The interior, Dark as it was and only lit by its small compliment of interior static lights was a painted mess. Even if a rational part of her mind told her a lot of blood didnt always mean fatal, She still paused at the critical moment until some movement caught her eye and snapped her back to reality. She half dove in to help Fitz pull her CO out of the hatch, Her own cybernetic arm doing the brunt of the lifting while her armored flesh and bone counterpart offered leverage and kept a reassuring hand on a still unloaded rifle. She could even fireman carry Fang for a dozen or so meters in training, The lieutenant wasn't too far off from that mark.

once out, It was time for the least fun and most hated part of a mechanize units medic trying to evac wounded crew from a possibly lethal wreck...

She appraised the lieutenant with a quick pat down and as soon as, In her medical opinion she thought he'd live from the upcomming experience, Embraced him as tightly as she could, Small arms and legs trying to cover as much of her superior as possible and simply rolled him off the tank with her, Using her body and the heavier golem armor to break the fall while the more mobile crew members scittered out on their own.

Ella could only hear the soothing voice of Hanako over the ringing in her ears. The vibration of the giant metal golem clambering on to the tank and pointing to her before helping Juno out gave her a moment to pause. It wasn't trying to kill her, so it was friendly. Probably. She could ask it later when they weren't out in the open.

She pulled herself out of the hatch and kept low as she moved over the edge of the tank to the side with Juno and the golem. Her muscles ached and screamed at her to stop. Their retort was made as she hopped down from the tank, her legs still quaking from the shock as they gave out and brought her face to ground.

That hit brought her senses back. Her stomach was still doing flips but the adrenaline sharpened her focus and kept her from throwing up. She picked herself up before moving over to help get Minnie up and moving. She couldn't hope to carry Juno, but she could try to cover with her ESG if the others could.

Jezper continued laying down magnetically slung waves of fire at the enemies from behind his lightly dinged up armoured carapace, lower caliber rounds continued to just plink off and maybe take some paint with them but for now the blonde private felt invincible... right up until the point his trigger finger wavered and he remembered, the friendly tank was fucked up.

His Hostile's monocular gaze drifted to the tank where people that could bail out were doing so as time seemed to slow, he gazed back down to the beautiful chaingun in his hands then back to the tank and sighed - muttering an apology under his breath as the weapon that was close to overheating itself was wedged into a nearby trench, away from friendlies just in case any enemies tried to get smart with his pride and joy.

A few running steps were taken before his hulking armour rocketed up into the air, suspended by plasma-fired thrusters as the missile pods began to open up and Jezper dumped everything he had at any enemies he could see while trying to not blow up anybody he wasn't supposed to - Private Chrystoff Zusak never claimed to be a hero or even a good person, hell he was kind of an ass if you knew him, but the blonde wasn't about to just let good people die when he could do something about it.

No, instead he lit up the surrounding areas with plumes of fire and waves of pressure as each missile pod was emptied before he finally landed in the mud near the tank with a weighty thud, leaving deep impressions in the ruined Terra slosh as Jezper unmuted his mic and began trying to get Juno out of there with his armour's augmented strength, "Wakey Wakey you lazy bastard, lets get you out of there."

Joe, his ears ringing and his vision spinning lazily saw the squad coming together all around him. The courageous little medic doing her best to cover the Lieutenant, Fitz heroicly taking on the literal burden of Juno. Even Ella was stoically covering everyone withher sidearm. The arrival of the friendly Hostile was just icing on the cake.

Joe shuffled around on the tank to follow Ella's lead and watched diligently with his .45 in hand. The noise of the battlefield was slowly starting to return with the deep thuds of the missile impacts, the slight cries of the distanced wounded. He spoke up, his voice louder than usual, "Listen! We have to move, we are sitting ducks here. Let's drop back to the nearest trench and get ourselves an assessment."

When Juno was taken from Fitz' hands, she almost fell over, not expecting the weight to suddenly leave. She had not really noticed Minnie's approach, her ears were still ringing, and her brain trying to catch up. But with a look up at her face she was able to understand at least that help had arrived.

With a sigh of relief the redhead gunner pulled herself out of the tank, adrenaline fueling her muscles as she fought the urge to sit down and relax. Outside the tank was blindingly bright for a moment as her eyes adjusted and she slapped her legs to get a firm feeling of the ground.

"Trenches...right.." She could hear Joe over the head set, and tried to process the instructions before nodding. Things weren't totally clear to her, like how the tank was destroyed, but right now she needed to survive and the sounds of gun fire and the bright sun were finally starting to clear her head.

After eyeing around hover she could see that getting to the trenches wasn't going to be a cake walk, so she reached behind herself and grabbed a piece of twisted platting from the tank and ripped it off and help it infront of herself as a makeshift shield and made her move outside the shadow of the tank.
