Interest Check NSN 1st Defense Force, Task Force "Farthest Stride"

So yeah. It's that time. With the Shinpi right about to launch (with the other tree moving pretty solidly at last), this seems about right to announce a new plot of mine in the works/looking for PCs. It follows a new element of Violetta's ASSets among the NSN 1st DF, a group used to scout and monitor sections of Nepleslian space and border space that responds with smaller number but tactical awareness. This group is the Task Force known as "Farthest Stride".

Once she's done, it will be led by a soft-plump Nepleslian woman by the name of Julia Brisk, a Nepleslian on the up-and-up who earned her stake helping tame Nepleslian frontier space. With the orders of Admiral Violetta, she's essentially forming a group of Nepleslians from different backgrounds of different species. If you're a Jiyu, that's fine. If you're some alien who gained citizenship, that's fine. The goal of this is to mimic Rememberance Division and its original idea of small fleet-on-fleet warfare.

All characters will start out as Commanders within the Nepleslian navy, regardless of whether they're academy graduates or Nepleslian militia-turned official military. The initial ships everyone flies (for ARC 1 and 2) will be either a Hray Gunship or the tried-and-true Sword-Class Frigate. It should be noted that you will follow a logical course of progression (Hray pilots could upgrade toward a Specter for heavier combat elements or customize/earn modificatiosn for their Hray as their status warrants. Meanwhile, Sword-Class pilots are likely to progress down the path to flying more traditional carriers and the like, such as the the infamous Blackjack, the Shaika, or even the mighty Orca), so you should consider this. This is to fit the idea that certain commanders/captains learn to command certain kinds of craft, which is fitting to a stealth specialist leading a Hray, while an Ex-Fighter Pilot commands a Shaika down the line due to their background with small craft tactics.

If you're interested in starting small and fighting for your upgrades with a max of two people earning a "step-up" per arc (to ensure the entire group doesn't suddenly jump in power scale), then this is a great thread. The focus will be far different from how space combat seems to be portrayed in SARP (20 Orca for a single part of a fleet is dumb, logistic-wise, even for Nepland), with a focus on smaller, more tactic-based usage of well-placed attacks versus just mass numbers. So uh... yeh. Looking forward to seeing all you cadets out there who wanna step up and turn your Freespacer Bumpkins, Jiyu Try-Hard, and your normal NSN naval academy graduates into war heroes.

There will be many foes in the coming months for Nepleslia... ARC 1 will focus on wargames between the the Task Force... so let's hope you guys bring your dummy missiles and light-hearted PvP caps >:3 keep yer eyes peeled on this thread for future information on this soon-to-be-plot!

This is really cool, especially the evolution of the idea that players are locked into a "tech tree" of sorts.

The plot name is now Task Force "Farthest Stride".

This is to avoid any confusion with a new plot formed elsewhere. Sorry for the name change for those of you who wanted to REEEE to max =3=/

Update #1

So, while I've been working on Julia to get her ready for laying the plot's groundwork... I've been getting asked about the idea of promotion paths. Now, it should be noted that NONE of this is final, but rather an idea/basic premise for what I'm thinking of doing. As I mentioned, upgrading and such will be on player-basis and involve what they pick but isn't some "set in stone" matter. This is simply a guide to give people an idea of what options exist, as the two starting ships DO meet-up, having variances, and different thematic vibes in different fashions. So without further adieu, this is for all of yuu =3=/

Again, I can't explain how this isn't set-in stone enough without being a broken record. This is mainly to provide an instructional/premise guide for those who WERE wondering and might have been on the fence. And, as I've spoken to some members about, this also has some late/extra upgrades missing (such as various upgrade options for FAR down the road for when people reach the ends of the trees currently) but will at least provide people with the barebone basic "body" idea. Until I update again, stay hyped folks =3=/

Edit: I forgot to mention it, but if anyone from Aquila Flight is interested, we can find a way to get said characters commissioned into Commanders. Except Jaeger. But he knows why.

That's cool. Know it's not final but I like how the Hray path can choose between 6 stealth ships or elite marines.

Those had better be some rad roughnecks.

I guess I'm in, whether or not you can think of how to include a 15-year-old who isn't culturally Nepleslian with the concept. I could always introduce Sarena's mother as part of the crew if that's more practical, she's about what I would have created for this plot specifically, anyway.

Sarena's mother hopping in as a Nepleslian commander is something that could most def happen, as we did mention the idea of yer smol being some sort of cadet assigned to work under her. Either way, we'll talk some more and get this fleshed out s'more, Navian.

In the meantime, here's an almost done Julia Brisk. She'll need to be confirmed and spoken on a bit, but it's the basic concept for those of you who are wondering what the sort of commander for the Farthest Stride'll be.

Edit: Whoops. https://wiki.stararmy.com/doku.php?id=characters:yamatai:julia_brisk

DUDE.

There will be a more refined Interest Check coming soon. The Farthest Stride is preparing to become a thing, and will need some new information. It is essentially the same idea, just some different names for stuff (such as the Task Force).

The new Interest Check is being made specifically because the idea has been fleshed out vastly and will be presenting many options for those interested. In short, the normal stuff you'd see like "What we need" and initial RP information.
