RP: Taking It Back [Phase II-A] Arming the Pack

After a while Dimitri noticed two things: food wasn't being served, it was a self-serve, and people were gun-grabbing every which way, apparently, since someone grabbed Rennik's rifle with little to no care to whom it actually belonged. So it was time to address both dilemmas. As Dimitri stood up and walked over to the kitchen to serve himself some of the grub the 'leaders' of the outfit had made, he addressed Archie with a rather pissed-off tone. "Hey! Ya better not be grabbing guns like ya grab dicks at a gay bar, old man! My shit is off limits, got that!?"

Upon reaching the kitchen he looked around for plates, silverware and cups. The least they could do is let him eat like a proper human being, hopefully not having to use his hands.

"Well, I don't see your name on it," replied Archie to Rennik, he would deal with Dimitri the interloper later "and I paid good money for this." Archie's head nodded sideways as he admitted some an exaggeration of the truth "Fifty DA from the engineering crew, but still."

Archie's eyebrows danced as he thought for a second. "What possessed you to leave it laying around anyway? Are you certain you're a real marksman?"

"Oi, oi, oi." Chry started. "Grandpa, you guy. Let drop it. We should work as team. We are here to kill.... or hunt NMX. Guy need this rifle to do this Grandpa. How would you like if you someoen took your Styrling and tried to give it to someone else. We were all tired yesterday. Don't be so stuck up and full of shit." Chrys said and finished her juice.

“Let a gentleman break his fast before insulting his honour.” Archie sniffed in distaste “I'm not as young as I was, you know.” He tossed the rifle smoothly to Rennik “You owe me fifty DA...” Archie paused to try and remember his team mates name “La bone Princessie poissante?” he finally said, getting the pronunciation completely wrong.

Archie grumbled as he fetched a plate for himself with a healthy amount of bacon, the utensils never touched his own plate, and a mug of boiling water. “What have you talked me into, Alex?” the old Nepleslian his employer as he took a seat opposite, popping a quinine tablet and a teabag into his mug to brew.

"I'm still uncertain of what exactly I've created." Alex stated plainly, prodding his now-empty plate with an idle finger. He didn't seem to be trying to sound sarcastic, or even attempting to make a joke.

Lucas, on the other hand, was more generous. He'd produced a 50 DA note and slid it to Archie across the table, but maintained his focus on Chrys. "Yeah, sister, don't pitch a fit over it 'r nothin'. Gramps was just playin' a fool for fun. Anyway, whatcha got for weapons? I heard some of the techies talking, said you was in an unfair fight last night. We got all sorts of stuff on the sub, old gear from my days on this coffin. You need a big knife or somethin'?"

Rennik carefully took hold of his weapon. He was very proud of it, having built it himself.
"La manipulation inférieure stupide de tireur isolé ma fusillent. Allé et a cassé quelque chose que je parierai..." he mumbled angrily as he inspected it, continuing a never ending stream of angry mutterings as he made sure not to move to harshly, his pain doubled with his collision with the table.
"It fires a .338 magnum round" he said in response to Lucas "not the best for piercing vehicles but it takes care of people no problem"

Dimitri served himself some grub from the kitchen, then proceeded to the table. He sat down with his plate and fork, and began stuffing down the food into his stomach. At least it was good food.

He finished chewing for a second, then pointed his fork at Rennik and his rifle. "Sounds like a good sniping rifle. Might buy myself one of those someday... And if you made that thing yourself, that's pretty impressive. Hats off to you, sir."

Chrysanthe's face saddened as Lucas made her remember the day before today. "Thanks, I have mah shotgun and g'old silver. I could use proper brass knuckle duster though, I have that eletric shit, but that gets in way too much. Good old brass knuckles are much better. And I can tell you what happened yesterdey. Bloody shit happened. Freaking bastard ID-Sol got upper hand on me and I got saved by bunch of nerds, that's what happened. Bloody hell I should get raped for what happened. Letting that bloody sob knock me like that. Would only deserve what was coming to me." She said and paused. She then leaned back on her chair and hit her palm with her fist. "Well it won't happen next, cause next time I will get that close to bloody tentacle lovin' ID-Sol I will rip his balls off and feed them to him."

"Well, we ain't gonna let that happen again. You might just get your chance today, sister." Lucas replied, stacking up empty plates and taking them to the sink. Alex, who'd remained silent to this point, finally spoke up.

"Breakfast social festivities are now over." He said, "We will now be surfacing and gathering outside for a brief operations overview. Equip yourself during the surfacing movements and meet me outside in fifteen minutes. We've got a full day planned this time."

[About Fifteen Minutes Later, Municipal Dock 3467-West]

The harsh morning sun scorched the outside of the submarine as is sat moored at the municipal dock, soft sounds of water washing down the side of the hull whispering in Alex's ears while he made his way down the gangway. Storm clouds were gathering in the distance, soft gray brush strokes against stiff boldness of the Funky City Skyline and Argent Towers. A small group of resistance fighters from around the West Side were gathered on the otherwise bare concrete expanse of the municipal dock. Alex spoke to all of them while he waited for the rest of his team to arrive.

"I have a small task for all of you today." He said, closing in on the group, his hands tucked tightly behind his back. "Paragon's Contract Corps are sweeping through the West Side today, so the NMX will be mostly occupied with them. My team is going on a more... 'covert' engagement. I require one or two of you for a special purpose."

Alex stopped his pacing for a minute and glanced over at the submarine briefly before glancing down at his communicator for the time. A sigh escaped from his lips and the ever-bored resistance leader produced and lit a cigarette. "You'd think a team made up of the most talented armed civilians on the planet would be a little more punctual."

Rennik was out the door first. He was wearing a t-shirt, a longsleeve t-shirt over it, and some very light brown cargo pants, and his boots. He had stowed his bag in his room, making sure he had everything he needed for a mission; his bandoleer of ammo, his rifle, and his pistol.
He was surprised that he was first out; he wasn't moving too quick with his lower torso injury (not that he told anyone that he had one).
"So, boss, I heard covert" he said with a winning smile as he joined the little group around Alex.

"Indeed I did. We will need to be delicate this time, which is why Paragon has left this particular rock unturned for us." Alex replied, nodding. "You may be happy to know it involves familiar ground for you, Mister Cage. And farmiliar faces."

He closed his eye and the shutter in his implant, just silently feeling the sea breeze on his face. He wasn't looking forward to it, but he was about to have to tell Rennik something that would probably alter his ability to preform on the next mission.

The bounty hunter came out of the submarine dragging along what seemed to be a plastic-looking case that he had found to put his stuff in. Basically the generic things: clothing, weapons, cigarettes, etc. It wasn't too heavy... but he didn't want to lug it around either. At the moment he looked pretty tired. He had his usual black and white suit, blue tie and sunglasses on, making him look rather elegant compared to a lot of the guys here wearing wife-beaters and regular shirts. Dimitri liked to impress, and if he was going to meet death, he'd like to meet it formally.

He dropped the end of the box he was dragging on the floor and put both of his hands behind his head, waiting for the rest of the crew to come out. The sun of the Nepleslian star system glittered against his reflective sunglasses.

Archie was next out, wobbling slightly uncertainly across the gangway, it was clear the man was no sailor, however as his feet reached solid ground he regained his old swagger and quietly approached the more amateur freedom fighters. “Fine day for a spot of Mishu hunting, wot? Who among you wants for the prestige?” he greeted loudly, tipping his customary pith helmet by its edge.

From behind a handful of silent watchers in the crowd, the noise of someone approaching rather forcefully through them caught Alex's ear. "Yo, tough guy, shove off. Common, move it or lose it baby. Hey, Einstein, make way for th' pretty lady," a female voice wafted in from the crowd as bodies jerked and swayed out of the path of the advancing figure. When it broke through the front of the crowd, Alex and his companions were met with the owner of the voice.

A young woman of a slightly vivacious figure, poised confidently in front of the rebellion with a single hand on her hip. She appeared to be fresh from the Funky City streets, dressed in a simple set of jean capri pants, green t-shirt under a faded black leather jacket and red low-cut sneakers. The woman exchanged casual glances between the men that had already stepped forward, shifting her weight from one foot to the other.

"So I heard yer lookin' for some volunteers t' take it to them squids?" The lady asked in a light tone, shrugging her shoulders as she tried to make the words sound more like an innocent question rather than a statement of the obvious.

Ker-click.

Ker-click ker-click. Click. Alex's shutter worked quickly on the approaching female figure. His cybernetic eye panned up and down over her figure, taking pictures of key areas.

"Let us see..." He muttered, "Relatively good muscle-mass, sexually attractive, evidence of former misadventures, self-important attitude. Yes, I think..."

As if coming from a trance, he quickly and suddenly spoke up, edging closer to the woman standing confidently in the morning light. "I think you're perfect for the role. What's your name?"

Chrys had time for quick shower before going off. But that was it, she was back in her worn clother and along the way she was looking for possible clothes stores where she could go to 'borrow' some clothing. There were none of course. So she just stood guard while they waited, she had her shotgun in her hands ready to shoot some NMX.

Chrys was also looking at newcomer who appeared from nowhere. Wasn't other paying attention? Well Alex had it fully in his hands so Chrys could just keep guard.

Archie eyed up the new arrival as she approached, eyebrows rising. He quietly turned to his employer and said quietly “I like this one, boss.” his face not quite perverted, but of a man who definitely liked what he was seeing.

Rennik wasn't paying attention to the newcomer, being thoroughly uninterested in anything else at the moment other than where and who this next mission had to deal with. He waited patiently for the others to arrive, hoping that would get things in a move on.

Lam said:

"Name's Babs, baby. Babs Rosa," the woman grinned widely, thumbing her chest to exemplify her presence before the group. "Best driver, best fighter, hell, an' I can guarantee I'm tougher 'n all th' rest a' these chumps. You, ah, might hav'ta lend me some gear though," Babs cleared her throat as she glanced around, taking notice to some of the others and their more well-equipped status. "Kinda lost mine gettin' past the innercity checkpoints."

"Very well." Alex said, a simultaneous reply to both Babs and Archie. His face met neither of theirs when he spoke. Instead, he was focusing on the emerging form of a salvaged buggy coming down the ramp from the hangar. In it's driver seat was Lucas, donning a uniform belonging to one of the ID-Sols from the day before. He could barely be recognized in the outfit, already looking pretty close to the real thing.

Lucas smiled and provided a dopey wave, instantly proving he wasn't one of the enemy ID-Sols and perhaps simultaneously proving his own idiocy. With a nod to Alex, he pulled up close to the group and hopped out of the buggy. Silence filled the dockyard as he made his way around the back of the vehicle and pulled a pallet full of weapons from a rack. Then, swinging the massive stock infront of him, he placed it at Alex's feet, careful to remove a few items from it first.

Alex nodded silently to him before speaking to Babs and the rest of the gang, "There are weapons for everyone here. These weapons are old, outdated Zen Arms weapons which were found on this submarine with us. They may have even been weapons I sold five years ago. They have be restored by our mechanics overnight and despite their age will be quite effective in removing the life from our enemies. Help yourself to them."

As Alex was making his 'have some guns' speech, Lucas turned and went back to Chrys, clutching the items he'd taken off of the pallet. With a bashful sort of grin on his face, he pressed into her arms a bundle of clothes and a simple pair of brass knuckle-dusters sitting on top.

Alex was finishing up his speech back over at the buggy. "I will leave you all now, as I have to oversee a surgery. Lucas will brief you. Good luck everyone."
