That is an odd way to spell Francia, Fian.
The Pitch
The NSS Hobby is a single mission long experimental RP using the new Open RP forums. The plot premise is that the players are the improvised and inexperienced crew of a small multirole prototype ship composed out of 1 to 8 all Player Characters with no GMPCs during the Battle of Nepleslia. Once the action starts, expect to be up to your nose situations combat or otherwise. Success depends on how well the crew can creatively multitask and use the resources that are available. Estimated time to completion is around three months.
As per Open Forum rules, players are not required to write or submit a full character bio, but to make sure there is no extreme overlap in roles and to gauge interests, players are to post the name, gender and roles of their intended character here. However, to leave the option of making the events canon and graduating the succeeding plot to non-open RP status, I will be GMing to present events and moderate actions like a normal GM would.
Theoretically, an advantage in graduating an open RP character to a full character once this RP is over would be that you will be allowed more leeway in the character submission because there was prior RP. This is however assuming that the character is not dead in the conclusion of the mission and the player wants to carry the character over to the succeeding plot.
Players are not expected to know in detail the ship they are on, enemy ships or any ship, these will be explained by the GM sufficiently ICly and as such, players of any skill or experience are welcome.
The ship writeup is not ready. But the following roles are required for the plot to start. As previously mentioned, players are not required to have prior experience in these roles (But their characters are expected to have at least some skill in starship operations). All characters must be part of the Nepleslian Military.
1. Captain (Has to be at least a warrant officer in the Nepleslian Navy, expected to be the most proactive son-of-a-bitch in space)
2. Gunner
3. Pilot (Fighter pilot minimum, PA need not apply)
4. Sensor/Electronic Warfare Guy/Girl
The next list of roles are optional, and may even be filled multiple times and even by the same people of the above.
5. Engineer/Technician (Damage Control minimum)
6. Medic/Doctor (Paramedic minimum)
7. Marine/PA Pilot
8. Some dude that can fill in for 1 to 4 if they are dead/incapacitated
Assuming the minimum are met, RP will begin next monday 1st of October.
Edit: Special character development requests will be entertained ("I want my character to lose her pinky in this mission plz")
Extra Edit: There will be a timeskip of a few years between the end of this mission and the succeeding plot.
Super Edit: Source of ship name http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobelar
Mega Edit: Per Acadia rules, PC deaths are only by mutual consent or by sheer negligence despite warnings. Posting cycle to be 1-2 days.
WTF Edit: Plot and successor plot is not 18+, simply no space on the ship to ____ without everyone and high-command knowing.
