RP: NSS Acadia [Post Mission 3]: R&R (Rest and Rations)

Rico narrowed his eyes angrily onto Suku as she gave her retort. Steadily, the Nepleslian's patience has been thinning, and Carina's pining for a drink was not helping the matter. By that time, Carina had also landed a kick onto Rico's shin while he was about to make another comment about Suku's own behavior. Pulling his leg back and hissing in pain, Rico turned his intense gaze down to Carina, switching it between the two females.

Finally, Rico held both of his hands up, palms spread outward in emphasis. "FINE. WHATEVER." The sergeant exclaimed in a harsh tone as he glared down at Carina, frustrated at both of the women's attitudes. "YOU take 'er then, whatever the hell will get you two t' shut up." As he finished his rant, the Nepleslian turned on his heel and simple walked back around the corner, leaving the two behind.

Phaedra said:
"I killed her by omission! I get my squadmates killed!" said Phaedra, firmly grabbing Harrison's arms.

Harrison stood stunned for a bit when Phaedra's hands locked onto his arms. He really thought he should've seen it coming, but he didn't. And he was thoroughly trapped as a result. So the ex-merc focused his steely eyes on Phaedra's face, a grim expression on his own, and placed his hands on the clone's shoulders.

"That bitch went crazy," Harrison said, "and it's no fault of yours." He scowled a bit. "That's the kind of thing they're supposed to weed out in psych-eval, and if they didn't find it, then blame them - not yourself."

Suku was a little surprised there, she never usually saw the man lose his cool like that. When she thought about it, she had come on a little harsh, and he was the father. A scary realization seemed to rise in the back of her mind, but she beat it back violently. She looked over at Carina and frowned, knowing that the little girl only wanted to spend time with her father. She always wanted to spend time with her dad when she was little, too.

Except her Dad was a mean drunk who liked punching people. Never hit her a day in his life, but was too busy hitting other people to pay a lot of attention to her.

"R-Rico! Wait a second!" Suku blurted out, trying to stop the man, holding up her hands to signify it. She cursed herself mentally for not thinking of something to say.

"Look, Carina just wants to... She..." The Medical Officer started shaking her hands anxiously. "She just wants to spend time with family," She smiled weakly at the girl, "right sweetie?"

If Rico had heard Suku remarks, he did not show it. Paying Suku no mind, the sergeant continued to pace away, striding with his thumbs tucked into his pockets and a discontented scowl across his face.

By this time, fat little tears had weld up in the girl's eyes at her father yelling, and glaring at her. When he walked off though, she'd started with small hiccups, followed by sniffles as now felt like she'd done something wrong, feeling as if her father no longer liked her or even wanted her around. Carina pawed at her eyes when she began to cry in earnest after what Suku'd said. Sucking in lungfuls of air in between sobs her legs shook, as a matter of fact, her whole body did from the effort before she buried her face into Suku's leg; wailing into it clutching at the loose material of the pant leg as she did so.

Suku frowned and felt her heart sink as Carina's eyes started to leak like a broken well. She squatted and down and wrapped an arm around the girl. At that moment, she tried to take to calming the distressed child down, but only felt worse as she saw that this may be an impossibility.

"Oh sweetheart, he didn't mean it..." Suku said, trying to console the heart-broken child.

Sean made his way to the medbay. He wasn't really injured anymore, but there couldn't be any harm in getting his leg checked out one last time. He frowned, realizing that that was presuming the angry medic was in a decent mood. Otherwise, there was definitely a possibility that it could, in fact, hurt. Quite a bit. He sighed and made his way in anyway, only to be greeted by the sight of a stalking Rico, crying Carina, and comforting Suku, and the last was not something he had expected. He stopped in the doorway, unsure of whether he should leave and come back later or take his chances now.

Talbain had been in the the mess hall for the whole time. First standing at the ready when all the commotion had been happening then at his seat again once the commotion had died down and everyone went back to milling about the ship. Finishing his meal he dumped the tin into the garbage and started to make his way to a quiet part of the ship. Finally the ID-SOL decided on trying the multi-purpose rooms and stalked off in that direction.

Anselm glanced over at Sean almost casually "I almost prefer that mess on Rok'veru to this, at least I understand combat... you don't look injured," the marine's good eye widened slightly and he glanced at Suku to make sure she was still occupied with Sergeant Sanroma's child before he whispered at Sean, "uh... are you going to try and seduce the Petty Officer?"

"That bitch went crazy, and it's no fault of yours," Harrison said with a bit of a scowl. "That's the kind of thing they're supposed to weed out in psych-eval, and if they didn't find it, then blame them - not yourself."

Phaedra felt the weight of Harrison's hands on her shoulders, as well as the truth in his words. The panic evident in her eye quickly slipped away.

"You're right; I shouldn't blame myself for this. It's just..." said Phaedra, removing her hands from Harrison's arms. Her gaze strayed back to the bloody mess that was previously Avel. She felt the bile rise in her throat again and she placed a hand over her mouth until it receded.

"I've seen people blown apart before; it's something you get used to. I've just never seen it happen to a squadmate, to someone I knew. Somehow that made it much more...horrifying," said Phaedra. She paused, and then glanced back up at Harrison.

"I don't know about you, but a drink sounds really good right about now."

Sean's eyes widened, surprised. "Do I look like suicidal to you? I'd like to keep my organs intact, thank you." He slumped down against the door, taking some of the weight off of his leg. "No, I'm just looking to get my leg checked out one last time, just in case." He looked back at the scene. "Not sure if I should wait or not though."

Anselm grinned "pansy," he paused to see the other marine's reaction before continuing, probably cutting off a retort "that what she'll call you for worrying about a sore leg, if Suku let you out of the medbay, you're probably fine... that or she really doesn't like you and is waiting for your leg to get worse before cutting it off," the short ID-SOL's grin took on a fiendish smirk.

Looking reasonably worried, Gyles stumbled along through into the messhall, clutching his left arm tightly. Around his hand, was a sizable mass of red on the green of his pullover, which soaked up into his gloves.

"Aww... shit. Which way to dat 'ere medbay?" He asked with a slightly shaky tone, perhaps calmer than the average person with a large gash on their arm, but quite average for a doped up marine.

Of course, Gyles had made two major mistakes. The first, was that he'd cut himself on his prized mono-knife by accident, splitting apart the skin nearly all the way to the muscle. The second, was stumbling onto the rather touching scene between the Petty Officer and her sullen 'adopted' daughter. His primary concern was just seeing himself not die of blood loss, but he'd certainly not given it much consideration since he didn't know the context or the reasons. Of course, none would probably be so stupid as loudly exclaiming why he was holding his arm in the first place.

"Seem to have cut meself on a monoblade. Fuckin' lucky I got to keep me arm." He explained himself, in a bit of a haze from the rather severe blood loss and rather pleasant multiple doses of painkillers running through his bloodstream.

When it all went down Viktor realized he'd left his bunk unarmed. Realizing nine out of every ten men (and the occasional woman) around him was armed, he finished his food rather than bother with the mess that unfolded. Still, he couldn't play it off completely apathetic- he winced at each gunshot, each shout. He had a stomach of steel, though, and the food stayed where it belonged.

When it was finished, he gleaned what he could from the crime scene before heading to the multi-purpose facilities to work the stress out of his body. Along the way he caught up with Talbain, calling his name to get his attention.

Once they were side by side, he asked, "Did you see what happened over by the brig?"

Carina continued to sniffle and hiccup as she was being hugged by Suku. She tried to wipe at her now slightly puffy eyes when she saw a rather tall man behind them wearing a weird sort of visor and was clutching his arm. He also seemed to be mumbling to himself. She'd stopped crying after the strange tall man. Carina sniffed once, her little nose also slightly red as she looked over to Suku then.

"Miss Suku..." her voice little, somewhat scratchy from her crying earlier. "Why's there a strange man behind us talkin' ta'himself?"

Shit, this isn't weird at all

The Chief walked with a somewhat noticeable spring in his step, most likely from him trying as hard as possible to get used to having a new leg. He was still on painkillers, which apparently precluded him from drinking, so instead he had two cigarettes lit up in the corner of his mouth, trailing smoke on the way over to the canteen.

Cutting in line and picking a fresh muffin, the Chief pushed a protesting Caretaker to the ground and made his way over to a table to enjoy what was probably the first muffin he'd had on board a ship in almost a year.

In one second, Suku was having a warm, close moment with her little friend. In another second, there was some dumbass bleeding all over the floor.

"Miss Suku..." her voice little, somewhat scratchy from her crying earlier. "Why's there a strange man behind us talkin' ta'himself?"

"I don't know, but I'm going to rip him a new one." Suku growled angerly, looking up at Newman, she recognized him. For some reason, in the back of her mind, she didn't like him. There was something about his visor-wearing face that she didn't like. Her scowl turned sweet towards Carina for a moment, before she stood up and looked Gyles in the eyes. She grabbed him by the good arm and drug him away from her current situation.. "You know, I'm not in a good fucking mood as is. You think you picked a good time to get a bad case of the dumb?"

Gyles immediately thought that he probably should have done something clever. Like saying nothing. Instead, he opened his mouth and gave a dull nod, brushing his still mobile right hand over the bridge of his nose and smearing blood over the burn scar that ran across it. "Nev'a a good time for the dumb, ma'am."

"S'not like I was jus beggin' ta get screamed at. I only wanted directions..." He continued to speak, his voice growing a little quieter with every word. "I coulda wrapped me arm in bandages or some shit and stabbed myself full of Droskin. Or... uh... crap..."

He leaned back into the nearest wall and sunk his head down. "Wazzit always dis cold and bleedin' vomit-y in 'ere or am I jus fucked sidewaysy like?"

"Oh my god, I hate you people." Suku bitterly yelled before turning around and scooping up Carina, in one arm. The demonic stare that was Suku's angry face, was on Gyles. She snatched his good arm and started taking both of them to the Med-Bay.

"I swear, you people hurt yourselves more than fucking children." Suku growled bitterly, stomping all along the way.

"It's true, yeah? I havin' been hurt in'a really long time!" the little girl trotting beside Suku piped up as she looked over at the bleeding Gyles a somewhat smug look on her face. It'd be plain as day to Suku she was lying of course, but really, the little girl was trying to save face here, and have a little fun while she was at it.
