RP: YSS Genesis [Prologue] A Ship Without a Captain

Shinon raised one of her eyebrows when Evelyn mentioned 'one for each wife' comment. Did Abwehran do polygamy? Well it could be possible and Shinon really could not possibly know. But now girl asked another question and Shinon had to reply. "Well it is little difficult to explained for me. See I am not your regular Yamataian. My dad was Nepleslian and mum was pretty easy going so I am something like half-Yammie and half-Nep." Shinon said and chuckled.

"Basically Yamataians are often quite serious and are all about politeness but for me it is so freaking tense. I can see it in military but why should even civies be like that I do not know. It is probably our culture or something, but you should ask other too since I am something of a black sheep. As of why I joined up. Well let's this is not full reasoning behind it but let's say that I want to make a difference. Even if it should take me a century." Shinon explained but she kept really reasons for herself.

There was more to why she wanted to become officer and why she wants to raise in rank. "Although as an officer of infantry I do not see much chances for me to get proper experience on this ship. You one the other hand. Medics are always busy Why did not you become full fledged doctor, you are still young and you could see the universe afterwards." She asked Eve in the end.

"Well, why can't I study to be a doctor while seeing the world? Being a medic is half the battle -- in the civilian world I could be an EMT or a Paramedic right now, and it's just a few years of study to be a doctor," Evelyn said.

They passed the Captain's Suite, and off to the left the Medical Bay could be seen.

"Well, this is my stop! Do you need anything in the medical bay?"

"Whatever you say," Shinon responded to Evelyn as they were passing Captain's suit. Shinon was pretty sure Taii was kind of man that would not use it. This was still ship without a captain and he will lead them until proper captain will be found. When reach med-bay Evelyn asked her if she need anything.

"Well not really," Shinon answered. "Taii told me to get to know you and I am glad I did. Well let me look around some more and then I will come over here to keep you company. You need to looke around the medical bay too I presume." She then waved a little bay and turned around moving on. Hall was apparently sqaure shaped and med bay was in corner. Next to it was mess and across the hall from it was XO's room.

Shinin smiled as she though how nice it will be for him, having dining room just across the hall. Next was Armoury. Shinon cheered up as she found it, she wanted to look what stuff she can work of. But that cheer soon left her face she was met with computerized voice saying "ACCES DENIED." With that she just shrugged and moved on.

Yumeko watched Yoko as she attempted to find her lighter and stared at the cigarette. Her eyes traced it all the way to Yoko's pocket before she realized she was being forcefully addressed.

"So, what can I do for ya?"

"You smoke? And yer allowed ta do so on tha ship!? Whoa! They don't let anyone smoke on Star Army ships and not a lotta folks on Yamatai tend ta do it." Yumeko blurt out. Her dialect had shifted from proper Yamataian to a more rustic style of Trade now.

Yumeko then got all quiet as though she were about to share a secret. "I think its looked down on or somethin' cuz I got some nasty looks when I tried one."

The blonde neko then shook her head and grinned at Yoko. "Where's mah manners? I'm Takeda Yumeko, like I said earlier but you can call me YuYu. That is if ya let me bum one off ya sometime. I came here thinkin' I wouldn't be allowed ta smoke any so I didn't bring any with me. At least I ain't jonesin' for one like some folks but that's genetics for ya."

The Taii watched as the four present crewmen boarded the craft and disappeared into it. He frowned at the Cigarettes, but let it slide for now. There was no need to be harsh on them for the moment, not until they had gotten to know one another and gotten used to the atmosphere of the ship.

To Seth, the most important thing was that the crew worked well together, and if the rumors he had been hearing were true, Then the actual captain would need a competent crew to support her when she finally arrived. That was Taii Larai's mission, for now.

However.... there were two more Origin crewmembers, whom were very late.

"Abwehrans..." The Taii muttered.

And the other girl exploded in a bright mess of curiosity.

Or, at least, that was how Yoko perceived it. She didn't exactly reply right away though. Instead, Yoko just started walking off towards her quarters, leaving the others behind. She gestured for Yumeko to follow with her free hand; first things went first. She needed to drop of her stuff before getting over to engineering, and the other engineer most likley had to do something along the same lines as well. The Geshrin simply let the Neko talk herself out first though, before even bothering to reply. "Well, nice ta meetcha." she lazily replied. "And yea, I smoke, but its nothin serious."

Yamatai. The mention had Yoko recall her mother telling stories - no, that wasn't right...memories. Her mother. She recalled her mother on very rare occasion recalling memories of that place. Since growing up on Nepleslia, she'd always been outside looking in. It seemed to be a nice place, that was for sure, but some things about it were just...stupid. Like smoking; sure, Yoko was going to light up earlier if she found the damn lighter, but that didn't mean she was going to stick around and blow it into people's faces. She was leaving for her own business, and didn't want anyone to follow. 'Guess people on Yamatai don't have the courtesy to keep it to themselves anyways.' Yoko gave herself a fain smile.

"I guess I'll spare ya a few, since I got a few cartons worth, but I dunno if they'll do anything with that bod you got there." she replied, pointing at the Neko's figure.

Yumeko picked up her own bag and followed Yoko. She was not sure where her own quarters were yet but she would address that when she got to it.

"Yeah, they don't really do much ta tha bod but I like'em. Picked it up from a coupla' Neps while I was workin' odd jobs planetside." Yumeko replied happily. "So where ya from?"

((Joint-post intro for my and Blackbird Lore's characters.))
Sight-seeing isn't necessarily a bad thing. Certainly not when it is your first time away from home. Most people even encourage the act of just wandering around aimlessly to enjoy yourself on such an occassion.
Of course, that was advice if you were a tourist, and Private Fieke Amsel, Origin Security, was not a tourist. At least not while she was walking around the restricted Sector Seven of Origin's Dawn Station, her sword and duffel in one hand and her pass in the other.
What she was though, was an extremely late and new Private who was supposed to have been well out of Sector Seven already and onboard the YSS Genesis. The young Abwehran Nightwalker cursed herself silently, thought back to the map she had in her duffel and had though she had understood and started to move to get it out.
But, that would take even more time and even then she might get it wrong again. So with a shake of her head Fieke started walking again, this time not looking around for any sign or directions, but for someone who could give her directions.

A second late arrival, also Abwehran and a Nightwalker to boot, was standing patiently with a cigar clamped between his massive jaw and puffing on it every so often. His glowing eyes were affixed to the great ship docked before him- the YSS Genesis. A duffel sat at his right side, and he carried no other items. He was in his uniform pants, but only wearing a sleeveless top, his upper right arm holding his uniform top over his shoulder with just two great fingers. His eyes slipped over Fieke's form briefly, then turned away, not finding her interesting in the slightest when compared to the form in the bay; this was a door to new places, things, and events- just the thing Rüd Grülik was always looking for.

As Fieke panned the area something caught her eyes. An OriSec uniform - or, well, at least the pants of an OriSec uniform - and on another Nightwalker at that. Even though the chance was slim that he was assigned to the same ship as her the chance that he knew where she needed to go was good enough that she began to walk over to him.
"Hey, glowy eyes!" Fieke shouted to Rüd in their native language, her light voice jovial. "Any chance you can help me out, I'm looking for YSS Genesis." Fieke thought on it for a second, and then decided it was better to wait for the other Abwehran's response and not mention how late she was.

Rüd looked her way this time, and pulled the cigar from his mouth with one left hand. In his rumbling voice, he answered, "Right over here." His lower left arm gestured toward the ship docked in front of them. His lower right arm extended forward to catch hers in greeting. "Rüd Grülik. OriSec, like you."

Fieke smiled at Rüd, it was good to see another Abwehran - especially another nightwalker. Dropping her duffel and sword out of the way she returned the gesture of greeting.
"Fieke Amsel, hopefully still part of OriSec at the end of the day."

He quirked a bulky brow. "What? You breakin regs or running late or something?" Technically speaking, 'Rued' was in the same boat, but his was a different story. He had to get off his last ship, which docked earlier that day, and traverse the great distance here to Sector Seven. He had something of an excuse.

"Much later than I ever want to be - and even later than I would like to be considering this is my first real posting." Fieke told Rüd as she realized that she hadn't been as lost as she had thought she had been. This time at least, she told herself, while the young Private didn't want to go into it in detail she had found out that Sector Seven had an extremely large number of sandwich shops and none of their workers knew anything about the layout of the sector they worked in.
"So, that's the Genesis then?" Fieke said musingly, admiring the ship along with Rüd. "Does that mean your posted on her too, or are you just admiring the show?"

After a brief suck on the cigar, "I'm posted here. Another ship needs people who know how to walk and shoot shoulder-mounted rockets at the same time." Rüd didn't let on whether or not that was exaggeration. The cigar was dead now and he stamped it out beneath his boot, completely disregarding the fact that it was in the middle of a thoroughfare. If they thought it was a big deal, some janitor would clean it up. "Little irksome, though, not knowing who's running the show, especially this close to launch."

Fieke shrugged as she eyed the discarded cigar and sighed. "I doubt the Captain is anyone spectactular. They most likely are just having a problem getting the position filled." As she spoke up she bent down and plucked the cigar from the ground - working and playing in a repair shop as a kid taught you to keep things clean - and tucked it into a net pouch on the end of her duffel.
"Though." Fieke stood up and wiped her hands agaisnt each other with a series of repeated, loud claps. "This is a restricted sector and a closed-doors project, so you never know."

Rüd ignored the fact that Fieke cleaned up his 'mess,' though he made a mental note of her behavior. It wasn't that it bothered him, more to the point that it meant she was all about going 'above and beyond.' Rüd simply accepted that it was somebody's job to clean this place up, and that there wasn't a trash receptacle in sight. As for the matter of Captain, "Doesn't really matter to me, so long as they know what they're doing."

"Competence is always a favourable trait, especially in officers and -" Fieke's words were cut off as she got a better look at the Genesis, or more specifically the man standing in front of the grand ship.

A rather annoyed looking man.

A lopsided and slightly rueful grin appeared on the Abwehran's face as she gathered her gear - making sure to check that her sword was safe and completely stowed in its sheath - Fieke finally left the entrance to the hangar and began to walk towards the Genesis.

Turning towards Rüd as she walked off, Fieke shook her head slightly, her grin still in place. "I think the welcoming committee is ready for us to make our way aboard."

Yoko continued to walk on, nearing the elevators that would take them up to the primary deck where their quarters were at. Her free hand turned into a fist and hit the button to call it down, not gently, but not furiously hard either. "Eh, I'ma from round Funky City. Not innit, round, gots it?" she explained heatedly, even gesturing with her finger in the air, 'round'. Yoko scratched the back of her head for a moment, cooling off as she thought back.

"I guess I don't like ta tawk about it much. Um." She gave her new found companion a moment of thought though. "What bout you?"

Ah, There they are, the Taii thought, noticing an Abwehran female coming toward the ship from the entrance to the bay, and then the figure of a male Abwehran still at the entrance. Luckily they were not too late, though he would have to work on that. Apparently it was not common for Abwehrans to be punctual, as only one out of three had arrived on time, and the other two were late.

To be honest, the Taii thought it odd that Origin would assign mostly Abwehrans as their half of the crew requirements, though he knew that this was currently a skeleton crew, simply to observe the status of the ship and learn a bit about it before a full crew was to be assembled.

"Welcome to the YSS Genesis, and this is the last time you shall be late, I presume?" Seth called out to the approaching Abwehran. His tone was flat and emotionless- he seemed to be stating simple fact, rather than joking, or chastising.

Rüd followed after Fieke once his duffel was in hand. His eternal smirk was back in its proper place as the promise of new adventures loomed in his mind- and indeed right in front of him. When he and Seth were face to face, he finally answered. "Not my fault, my last ship was late to the dock." Then, after a brief pause, "Which way to my room?"

Yumeko listened until Yoko then asked her question. "Aside from tha farm, I'm not really from anywhere. I traveled a lot afta I was made and then I joined tha Star Army. I got ta learn Trade while I was workin' planet side so I kinda frustrated mah teachers in language class.".

"Other than fixin' stuff I likes ta play me sum volleyball or raquetball. How about you?" the perky neko asked.

The doors began to close soon after they boarded the elevator, cutting them off from the rest of the group; for the briefest moment, Yoko eyeballed the open button and the other crew members not too far off. Her expression simply said, 'Do I have to?' The fact that she grudgingly reached out and jammed the open button with her thumb to let the others have more time though, spoke for itself. "Volleyball? Racquetball? I don't have nothin like dat. Not enough times, really." she shrugged, not further elaborating.

As they waited for the others to near and file in, she decided to continue their little talk, but change the subject a little. "So, what rooms we goin ta be in? We're nawt assigned yet and can pick you knows."

"I dunno yet. Whatevahs good so long as no one snores!" Yumeko replied. She hadn't picked a room yet herself and started to scan the cabin roster to determine that for herself as well. "I'm thinkin' if I gotta room with someone I hope they also don't got weird hobbies or none like that. I knew one Neko, she liked collectin' toe nails and finger nails. I know we don't grow our own and stuff and they are kinda a novelty ta us but that was just too much!" she then added with a hearty guffaw.

As Shinon walked through the deck she relized ship si not that big. Sure there was another deck below but even with that it looked much larger from outside. Well at least everything is near.

Shinon also gathered that now is good time to pick a cabin before more crewmembers starts pouring in. Apparently only extra cabins were for Captain adn First officer and there were none other officer cabins. Shinon was not sure if it is good idea for her to be roomed with enlisted personell should it come to it. Well she will deal with this problem should it appear.

Now she was thinking what cabin she should pic. If she should take the one near armory or one near one of the elevators. The one near the armoury was near mess and First officer's cabin which was good. Not to mention that it was next to freaking armoury. But Showers and toilets were on the other end of the hall from this room. Also if she would be near elevator she could get to Power Armour bay faster.

In the end she realised that she will still need to see Captain or First officer first anyway to get her orders issued and stuff like that, and if there will be emergency then she will have to deal with that later too. In the end she walked to room next to armoury closer to the center of the ship. She was not fan of having just one wall between herself and space.

Contrasting Rüd's gruff and unapologetic exchange with the Taii, Fieke saluted the Acting-Captain crisply. Despite this, the official-feeling to the greeting was quickly diminished as the nightwalker fell at ease and sighed; making a quick, placating gesture with her free hand to try and excuse her companion's behavior.
"If my feet are in order I'll be there Sir." Fieke's voice was cheerful as she responded to the Taii's earlier question. Pausing for a second the Abwehran found she didn't get much of an impression on her Commanding Officer - besides the fact that he expected to be obeyed, but then again, what kind of officer planned for disobedience?
But seeing as the boarding ramp wasn't a very optimal place to learn anything else, there was not point dallying. "Permission to board and lay claim to quarters Sir?"

"You may enter and choose rooms, if you wish. The only rules at the moment are no Co-ed bunking, and you may not use either of the two officer's suites." Seth responded, deciding that these were the last of the crewmen that would arrive today, and following them up the ramp.

"Do not take too long, I will soon make an announcement, which the ship should inform you of."

After they had boarded the Elevators and made their way into the upper deck, the Taii made his way toward the bridge as opposed to the bunks like the others, however he did drop his own gear off in the XO's suite, which had been assigned to him.

Once upon the bridge, the Taii looked over the displays and the stations, remaining quiet for a couple of minutes as he inspected the bridge, before venturing "Hello, Genesis."

"Welcome Aboard" the ship replied, in an androgynous voice, devoid of personality.

I wonder who this ship will become, having met other Destiny AI on my way here... The Taii pondered.

"Sir," was the extent of Rüd's response.

After striding the length of one corridor and finding himself facing the armory, he decided it best to be at the front of the hall. While stowing his stuff in Cabin 2, the Nightwalker pondered what little he knew of the crew and ship thus far. The Taii seemed like a rather bland fellow (But what officers aren't? he asked himself). Hopefully the yet-to-arrive Captain would add some spice to that mix or this would be a dull ship; this in turn made him wonder how they could criticize his arrival- the Nightwalker had fair reason and yet to hear an explanation of the Captain's tardiness.

No matter. His gear was put away so Rüd strode from the room, uniform shirt still slung over his shoulder. The words of Seth hadn't struck his ears as orders, so he continued to move about the ship freely, but nevertheless prepared to be a soldier at any given moment. Such was the life of a freelancer- always on call, enjoying what you could when you could. (He never called himself a mercenary, even in his mercenary days).

For the time being, the massive Abwehran spent his time learning the lay of the ship and where the critical areas were: he had already found the armory; next were the rec facilities, and dining hall. Alas, he would soon discover a severe lacking of the former.

Shinon left cabin 26. She was still wearing her long skirt, since she liked it a lot. There won't be much chance to wear it later. Then she will be wearing working uniform all the time. Since her room was already set up (she threw her duffel bag on bed) there was time to look at one last place she did not visited on this level. The Bridge.

She walked in curiously looking around only to notice XO was inside. "Taii," Shinon said and bowed slightly to show respect. She walked up to him and looked around bridge. "This is quite a ship isn't it?" She said then smiling slightly. So far she had good feeling about this post. Maybe it won't get her shine but it might give her other valuable experience. Not like she was in any hurry.

Not feeling particularly interested in the others quite yet, Yoko focused the brunt of her attention on Yumeko. "Nails? She collected nail clippins?" the Geshrin asked, astounded to the point that she had had to force most of her accent out in the process of speaking clearly. She then spread her fingers out and gazed at her own, suddenly deep in thought. After a little bit though, Yoko spoke again to the Neko, "I guess she mighta been feelin a 'lil envy, not havin nails. I sure dun know what I'd do wittout dem." She recalled just how many times a knife hit her nails when chopping something, and imagined what would have happened had they not been there. Yoko shuddered.

When the elevator made it to the upper decks, she quickly recalled how the ship was laid out; if she chose a room too close to the bathrooms and whatnot, it might get noisy. Plus, it was too far from the armory, well, it wouldn't end on a good note if boarders came on. And not only that, but there was also the everyday walks she'd have to do on the ship...if they didn't let her through the armory to get at the mess, she'd have to take the long way. Decisions, decisions.

In the end, she settled on room eighteen. "I'ma takin dis room heres, just lettin ya know." Yoko told the Neko as she opened the room and dropped her bags on the floor.
