RP: YSS Genesis [Prologue] A Ship Without a Captain

"Indeed, Maverick-Shoi." Seth responded, returning the woman's respectful gesture. "This is your first assignment, Correct?" he asked, as he walked over toward where the Infantrywoman stood, Inspecting how she carried herself- She was much more professional than the others. It was fairly obvious that she was quite fresh from officer training, but that suited the Taii just fine- Fresh from training meant she remembered most everything, after all.

"Yes sir," Shinon replied and smiled mildly. "I was on guard ship during my cadetship but I think that does not count. Officialy of cour, since un-officially I learned quite a lot there. Sir do you mind if I ask a question? Two actually." She ended her answer with question of her own.

Yumeko looked around at the rooms and shrugged. "Alright, I'll take this one here then!" Yumeko replied, pointing to cabin 14. "If ya like let's get us somethin' ta eat if tha mess is open aftah we stows our stuff." she then suggested.

With just as much ceremony as given to her bags, Yoko closed the door behind her, just like that. "Yea, sure, sure." She replied. The Origin Employee then gestured at Yumeko to follow her. "C'mere, lets go through the awmory instead'a takin the long way." she suggested, walking deeper into the ship. "Assumin the AI lets us goils through, it'll be a weal showatcut in comparison."

"This place is amazing!" Evelyn exclaimed, moving from one end of the medical center to another.

Her bags had been left by the port-side entrance, and her mind had been left just outside the door. She inspected the examination bed, the sterile room, the pharmacy and all the bits of equipment stored around the place. Evelyn was geeking out over everything in 'her' room, and learning what she could about it all.

"Hell yeah!" Yumeko replied, excited at the prospect to explore, eat and maybe even make a little mischief.

"You are within your rights to ask questions, Maverick-Shoi" The dark-haired Seth replied to Shinon. He looked at the woamn intently, but politely, waiting patiently for her to ask.

"The armory is currently closed to all except the Taii." The Genesis' AI informed Yumeko and Yoko. "I am afraid you will have to go around." The androgynous voice continued, creating a volumetric arrow pointing them the other way, if they needed directions.

And there went the idea of a shortcut. Right out of the f*ing airlock, since the new AI was a stiff. "What? Ya don't trust us?" Expression sour, she simply snorted at that and turned away. "C'mon." She motioned for the Neko to follow. Yoko wasn't stupid, and arguing with a 'young' AI was as stupid as it got. They were stiff, and hadn't quite 'matured' enough to know how to bend the rules at times. Though, even an older AI could end up even more of an ass sometimes. As the Nepleslia born Geshrin took the long way to the kitchen though, she continued to grumble angrily. "Hmph. Hope that one doesn't end up a poisen with a stick up his a her ass."

Her careful choosing, close or far from the doors, ruined, thanks to a new and stubborn AI! Yoko continued to fume and steam as she began to walk the entirety of the longer route, unaware if the Neko was following or not.

"Arigato sir," Shinon thanked her ranking officer. "First I would like to ask if I could be authorized to enter the Armory. I woul like to keep eye on it and check what me and my subordinates can use should any problem show up. As to my second question. Why me sir? This is high-value prototype ship that is obviously kept secret. Why was rookie officer like me chosen to serve on it?" She was withough any facial expression but kept her voice respectful. In reality she was really curious about her appointment to this ship.

Having walked the main floor of the ship and gotten a good feel for its layout, he wasn't particularly pleased with it. It would be fine if nothing went wrong, but Rüd Grülik had never embarked upon a voyage that went exactly as planned.

Whilst pondering the ship's many tactical inadequacies and roaming the halls, he crossed paths with two Nekos, one storming his direction and away from the sound of the ship's AI. This led him to grin, though most things did for one reason or another. "No sense in getting worked up, everyone has to walk the hall." Perhaps to Yoko's surprise, the Abwehran addressed her in Yamataian.

"I will authorize you to enter the Armory twice today, that should be enough." The Taii immediately responded to the Shoi's first question, but had to think for a moment about the second one.

"I believe the Star Army crew was chosen based on who's loyalty was least in question, as far as I can tell. I was not actually in charge of the selection process, I merely sent out the orders" was Seth's eventual reply. "As for the secrecy of the ship, it will cease to be so the moment we launch, so that is nothing to worry about for now."

The AI Simply responded to Yoshiko's remark: "You may petition the captain for access through the armory if you so desire."

"Hmph. It doesn't make it any moa likeable, ya know?" the Geshrin huffed at the larger man. The Abhwehran easily towered over her by a foot and a half, but she didn't seem to care. "This may be a test ship, but I'da think they'd figure makin it a little easia to grab sum grub be a good thing, know what I'm sayin?" By now, Yoko had both her hands on her hips, and while continuing to look up at Rüd, didn't even bother to let up. "What if I feels like gettin up at night and grabbin a quick bite? Nows, I gotta dress up since I can't just waltz out real quick-like in my undies and get what I want!"

"I'll be completely awake by then, ya know?!"

Rüd couldn't help but grin wider. She was a feisty one, but for all the wrong reasons, it seemed. He had to say he was fairly disappointed to hear such a fussy complaint from someone in a military position. He had worked with and commanded mercenaries with better perspective than this shrimp.

Even so, he felt compelled to answer. "Sounds like you're not getting enough exercise in your day to put your body through a full sleep cycle. Maybe next time you get the urge for a midnight snack, you just curl up and go back to sleep."

And so, Yoko was now left staring at the big man with a flat expression on her face, the Geshrin's own expression sour. She didn't talk, not right away, but when she did, she did so slowly and with care. Each word was picked out carefully, her accent shoved out of the way, just for this. "So. You don't think. I work as hard as a jarhead like you?" The engineer asked the ship's security - person, or whatever they called his job.

The air seemed to grow still and stifling as she stared him...up, for a lack of better word.

He laughed softly. "Are you trying to pick fights? No, you're just not giving your body enough work to still that sense of restlessness." His calm expression and relaxed posture were undisturbed by the sudden hostility. It would take a lot more than a little jibe like that to light this Nightwalker's fire.

Shinon nodded at Seth's response. "I understand sir. There is one more thing that should be made clear. There are quite a lot of Origin personell on board. Are they to be treated as civilian or military? They also have different rank system." Shinon wanted to know what is she supposed to do around these people. She knew how to work with Yamatain personell, since ranks were clear and they were all military. But what about people from Origin.

"I like ta play sports!" Yumeko offered up as she finally found herself able to speak. Her first encounter with an Abhwehran had left her briefly speechless. First their route to food was blocked by the AI and now by this giant alien in front of her.

"Ya think we can all match up for some raquetball latah aftah we eat? Ya look like ya'd be really good at it!" she continued before walking up and getting a closer look at him. Literally closer look as the neko began to look all around him from less than a foot away.

Yoko jabbed a finger forward and opened her mouth to speak up, but the next thing she new, a small bubbly explosion went off right next to her ear. Her senses were bombarded with enthusiasm, happiness and curiosity, all at a pitch and volume that caused the Geshrin's eye to twitch in response. It was quite something. At that, Yoko's shoulders slumped as she sighed and continued to walk past the new couple, shaking her head as she did so.

As far as she was concerned, everyone was a big oaf, genki-girl or somebody with a stick up their ass. No opinion on the AI yet of course. As one foot fell into place in front of the other, again and again, Yoko's stomach growled.

She always was particularly grumpy when hungry. But then again, when wasn't she grumpy?

The AI spoke up to answer Yumeko's suggestion of a game of racquetball.

"The Hangar bay is not currently able to support Racquetball, but does have basketball hoops. If you still desire to play Racquetball, I can have the machine shop construct the equipment, but It will take several hours without the guidance of a technician."

Seth had to think for a moment once again before responding to Shinon.

"I believe that is why so many Loyal soldiers of the Star Army needed to be chosen- The Origin crew is an unknown variable that we must contend with. However, I believe it should not be a problem. Origin does not wish to cause trouble for the Empire, and from what I understand they have been fairly good at it so far."

Shinon looked into Seths eyes and said. "With all respect sir, Origin is company. All they care about is money. RIght now they are getting a lot of money by playing nice with us, but that might change." Someone might call Shinon pessimisst but she was more of a pragmatist. "I would also be careful. Some of them might be here to listen on us. I mean if I were one of the higher-ups in Origins I would like to know what happens on this ship." She added.
