RP: YSS Genesis [Prologue] A Ship Without a Captain

While interested to hear what Yoko had to say, Rüd was not adverse to the change in conversation brought about by Yumeko's interruption. He immediately found the latter to be far more entertaining, and perhaps a bit easier to engage. Before he could answer, however, the AI announced that racquetball was simply out of the question; that was fine, really. Just watching Yumeko march in circles around him was entertaining enough, although he eventually brought her to a stop with one hand- the lower right, to be specific.

"Take it easy," he suggested with a smile. "You'll have all trip to study and scrutinize."

As Yoko continued her leisurely pace towards the good stuff on the ship, she pondered just how she was going to get around this 'problem'. Oh yeah, the engineer was going to have this on the list of complaints to feed up the chain, that was for sure. And unlike most cases, it would likley get listened to, considering this was a prototype and test vessel, not the final design. Or so the theory went. Still, Yoko knew that this wouldn't be such a big deal if the AI would just let her - the AI? Yoko stopped mid-stride and looked up at the ceiling.

"Ey. You gotta name yet? Can't just call you 'AI' all the time, ya know?"

Evelyn had spent most of her time since arriving to the medical bay fixing things up to her liking. She needed everything just so to make herself feel comfortable treating people. After organizing in the scandalously advanced (As she saw it) bay, she cleaned the tools she could.

After that was finished, she finally said goodbye to her new second-home for the moment, and began hunting for someone to talk to in the halls.

"Ship," She asked to the thin air, not sure what to call the computer she knew existed on Yamataian vessels. "Can you direct me to the Captain?"

The Genesis responded to the inquisitive geshrin quickly and curtly. "I do not yet have a name. If you wish, you may refer to me as the ship's designation or name, ND-X1-00, or YSS Genesis, respectively."

Seth merely looked back at the infantry officer, and answered her simply. "The point of this exercise is to promote cooperation. while it is true that they stand to gain by cooperating with us, I see no other alternative for them at present, and no need to worry. Besides, through this venture the Empire may gain itself some more inside knowledge on the company, among other things."

The XO turned around and began walking toward the captain's seat on the bridge, before stopping and finishing his thought.

"It would do well to at the very least pretend to trust them, though I myself will do so genuinely unless they give me a reason not to."

Shinon looked straight at her commander. "Don't worry sir. I will fully cooperate with Origin personell. I do not believe they would mean harm to us, empress forbid. I am just too careful probably." She explained what she meant. She trusted Origin, it was Yamataian company more or less. They would not gain anything by backstabbing Yamataim. But they are still company. And they want to make money so it would pay to be careful. "Now if you would excusse me sir, I would like to meet rest of the crew." Shinon said and bowed to Seth.

"Pfft! That's the name of the ship? You'ah not tha ship. I mean, ya live in the ship, but ya still not tha ship, ya know?" Yoko spoke out, dismissing the AI's offer for an intern name. It simply wouldn't do for the rough Geshrin. As she entered the mess hall, her eyes spotted the coffee dispenser by the cafeteria area, right by the tea and soda fountain. As she stirred in some creamer, Yoko thought to herself out loud.

"Genesis...Gen-Gen...hm...Jen?" The rough Geshrin girl thought about it for a moment. "Nah." Yoko looked up to the ceiling. "No luck hea. You?"

"Sounds good ta me! Hey lemme know if ya need anything fixed big guy!" Yumeko said before pointing her thumb at herself. "Th' names Takeda Yumeko!" she introduced before stopping herself.

She hadn't realized whether her Trade dialect was understood so she switched to Yamataian. "My name is Takeda Yumeko. It is my pleasure to meet a member of your kind." she said politely before offering a slight bow of her head.

"If mah Trade style is a little hard ta unnerstand I c'n use Yamataian if ya like. Just let me know which suits ya best." Yumeko quickly added.

Still that grin. "I speak both," he answered first in Yamataian, then continued in Trade: "'N I'm shuh I c'n speak rougha Trade 'n ya, li'l lass. I been bouncin' 'tween stars aw m'life." His voice had a rough drawl when he spoke like that, but seemed to come rather naturally. Afterward, however, he was back to his deep, not-quite-gravelly, but not-quite-smooth bass tones. "And if anything needs a fix, I'll be sure to let you know. Suppose I should get back to work."

This last bit was perhaps slightly ironic as he was still not fully uniformed, but it must have been perfectly natural for Rüd who gave no sign that there was any sly meaning.

"Of course." Seth responded, bowing to the Shoi.

"Genesis, Please locate the crew and give Maverick-Shoi directions to their locations" the Taii requested of the ships' computer, which was acknowledged swiftly.

"Orders received" the computer responded, and soon a volumetric map of the ship with little dots for the crew locations showed up for Shinon to follow.

Elsewhere in Sector Seven, a convoy of HD-ORV's carrying supplies, and soon the rest of the Gensis' crew was being readied. A Flabbergasted redhead was in the middle of the hustle and bustle, simultaneously trying to keep track of the supplies and get ahold of the rest of the crew, which would be arriving soon. She was busy with a datapad and two communicators- one yelling at Origin Employees to get ready, the other on the line with the SAoY, asking when the last of their people would be ready to be taken through to the ship.

It was chaos.

"So much better than a desk job" the redhead muttered to herself, grinning.

Shinon looked at the map for a while. She picked her choice and gave nod to Seth. "Arigato," she replied to him, bowed and left the bridge. She then went on her way find Yoko. It was strange choice, one would things she would seek actuall infantry but Yoko as engineer was one she chose to talk to first. Also she was from Origin, and Shinon was curious how she will react to Star Army officer.

She found the girl talking to the air all alone. Shinon raised one eye-brow until it was clear from girl's talk that she was talking to ships AI. "Actually I must say I like how Jen sounds," Shinon jumped into conversation with mild smile on her lips.

She was mostly minding her own business and figuring out just who or what the AI might just turn into when someone happened across the mess hall. The Geshrin turned at the new sound much like a paranoid old cat would, but quickly relaxed upon seeing it was someone friendly enough. It was another Star Army cat. "I know that, but the AI's gotta pick for itself, yahknow?" Yoko replied tersely, finishing her coffee. "Hmph. Try the hawt chawcolate later..." she murmured to herself eyeballing the dregs before looking up at her company.

"I'm Yoko. Engie. So, what can I do you for miss...?" The rough Geshrin asked, cutting to the chase.

Shinon was still smiling a little as she walked to Yoko. "Well that is true," she replied at quip about AI picking name for itself. "Anyway, I am Shinon Maverick-shoi. You can just call me Shinon I am just meeting the crew and I was interested in meeting you." She said to Yoko, while she took a cup and poured some coffee for her. "I will lead infantry should something happened. So I wanted to meet the person who will be taking care of our power armors. That would be you wouldn't it?" She asked and it could be see that she was quite relaxed.

THAT. Got her attention. Yoko sat upright before putting down her empty coffee cup onto the table in front of her. She looked dead serious. "I know I'ma take care of the engines, but I thought you Star Army guys had your own people for that?" she asked, still stern in appearance. Yoko quickly softened up a little bit though, but for no discernible reason.

"Not that I can't." she quickly added, perhaps a little defensively.

Shinon sat at one of the chairs looking Yoko straight in the face. "Yes. There is Star Army engineer on board. But I suspect it would be tough for her to take care of all armors aboard. Also Orisec will use Origin armours I presume and you know more about those then she would I presume." She replied then and sipped from her coffee.

Yoko grumbled a little before replying. "Yeah, yeah. No prob. Jus, rather not... not be near or in one of those things again, yaknow?" She was now to fiddling with her empty coffee cup again, twirling it about in her fingers. "Don't get me wrong, I'll help, but I gots other things to do. Go ova ship's weapons systems, engines." By now, the Geshrin was reduced to running a coffee drop moistened fingertip along the rim of the cup, trying to make it hum like a wine glass, though why was anyone's guess.

"So, ya got anythin else?"

Shira narrowed her eyes and looked straight at Yoko. "In the suit? I do not want to insult you but I would rather not seen anyone outside infantry in the suits. You guys make sure ship and our suits works and we will do our best taking care of protecting us all. But I understand. If I can I will ask someone else to take care of the suits then." She said to another woman.

"Ey! You thick headed oa somethin? I said I'd do it! Just not like it..." Yoko quickly snapped at first, becoming more subdued towards the end. If it wasn't obvious now, something about this conversation was bothering her to quite a deal. And it wasn't the coffee.

Shinon leaned back on her chair looking straight at Yoko. The Origin mechanis seemed little unneasy. "Is there a problem? You can talk to me if you want. I am not your commanding officer after all." She said straightly to woman in front of her.

"O-ohayo goohhztaimass-you?" Evelyn asked, not aware she was interrupting.

In the end, the ship hadn't directed her to the captain for whatever reason. That didn't bother her. If there was a conversation to be had, they would either be in the Mess Hall or a Lounge of some sort. She'd start with the one and work her way to the other, but Evelyn was pleased that her first guess was right. It gave her a chance to try and work more of her poor Yamataian. She did wonder where everyone else was, though. If they were old hands, they'd know to congregate to the Mess Hall off-duty!

The coffee cup fell from the table and briefly bounced with a *dink!* before the ceramic drinkwear came to a rest at the newcomer's feet. Yoko had turned, startled, and had reached into the partially unzippered front of her jumpsuit before stopping. In all honesty though, she had a feeling that there was something off about all these Star Army pukes. She couldn't put her finger on it though. Instead, she ran her hand through her hair in an attempt to cool down.

"Er, yea? Can I help you?"
