RP: Bloody Claws Second Period - A Trip through Adversity

Cicero started to look around at the crowd since not being able to see every one on the bus earlier. He saw a My'leke and decided to walk over there once he got there he he whispered. Hi I'm new here, my names Cicero how are you, Cicero said in a big rush.

Ra'chel sighed softly, "I'm sorry, but unfortunately we live in a time where the military -are- the upper class and the rest of us that chose more peaceful or technical pursuits become the middle class. Or outcasts"

She gave a depreciative yipping chuckle to take the sting out of her words. Some of the nearby onlookers glared at her along with shush'es to quiet her down.

The holo-video slowly shifted in size to provide the audiance there a much better view of the field; and it was split in half to show both of the schools. For a moment, it was devoid of any sound minus and the only text on the screen was that of the two schools, this changed when the split screen shifted and showed one of the two schools upclose - eight tanks of varying size's.

"We welcome our viewers to the Free-form Battle of Quy'ee, in this Skirmish, both schools will be permitted to execute the battle anyway they desire - and not to the way that history has it. Historically, the battle was known as one of the bloodiest in the Federation and Regimes history, resulting in a stalemate on both sides, with neither being able to continue due to lack of mainpower and supplies."

The screen shifted once more, this time showing the other school - this one had over sixteen tanks but the majority of them were light, single occupant, tanks while the others were medium ones.

"Unlike the other skirmish's we had several days ago, this one will be without infantry, the rules are the same - the first team that takes out the opposing sides command tank will win. The terrain today is that of the great plains with some hills and mountains, combat area is seventy five square miles," the announcer stated as the view split to show the combat area that the game was going to take place in. "Now, sit down and enjoy the show!" their voice trailed off as the screen once more split to show the two sides - a count down began in the center, counting down from thirty.

Cy'jiro looked over the forces presented by the two separate schools. It was a little difficult to tell who if either had an advantage, granted 16 tanks would be very impressive and devastating if most of them were not small 1 man tankettes that didn't look like they'd take more than a hit or two. Warfare was by no means his specialty though. "Lots of small tanks...are they going for speed?"

"Naw, they're probably going to just use them to ram the enemy command vehicle." Bu'lla replied boredly from behind the shorter Daur classmates.

The 'warmongers' face was straight, but the sheer absurdity of the statement seemed beyond reason. He was either a genius, or an idiot, or sarcastic. At least he wasn't quoting factoids about each of the tank types.

Overhearing Bu'lla, Ra'chel gave several sharp yips of laughter. She was once again hushed by others watching. Which made her laugh even more much to her dismay and others near by that she was disturbing with her laugher.

The courtdown on the screen continued to decrease until it hit zero, this then lead to the image changing to show a green flash in the air from a signal light; as both teams began to make their move - tanks rolled out of the starting point, with one team headed toward a large hill while the other team headed toward a grove in the terrain. For at least several minutes there wasn't much going on, just the two teams moving into positions or trying to spot one another - that changed at the six minute mark when one team spotted the other.

The team with the medium tanks were the ones who had spotted the one with the lighter tanks, and opened fire - taking out one light tank almost instantly, but this volley caused the other light tanks to scatter, their speed and menuverability working well to their advantage as the medium tanks had problems trying to track them as they zig-zagged around small hills and trees, although those tanks were firing off shots at the larger ones those tanks merely bounced off the medium tanks heavier armour plating.

After a moment two of the light tanks got behind a medium tank and fired into the tanks rear, taking it out of the game; although as they attempted to flee one of the two were taken out but the other managed to get away while only suffering light damage.

As the team with the light tanks began to move away from the tank with the mediums, the medium team's commander - which was shown to be a young boy - popped his head out of the hatch of the lead tank, whatever he said caused his team to stop moving and they just watched as the lights disappeared over a hill.

Kaui was watching this idly, while sticking nearby Bu'lla. Trying to keep him from embarrassing the group even more than he had that one time at the fish restaurant. She had given him such a stern lecture for that. But now she's keeping her eyes on him and the match. After it was done though... "This looks fun." she commented to no-one in particular.

Cy'jiro kept his eyes on the battle, though he took in what Bu'lla said as a possible strategy as well. "Hmm wouldn't it have been better to wait for when teh light tanks could not scatter so easily to fire? Or at least try to pick off more than one at a time?"

Aka' smiled, hearing Cy'jiro the Kit turned toward him for a moment. "It's a game of tactics, Duar'wyn knows better than to under-estimate their opponents, which in this case is Yuki'tee Military Academy," the kit thought for a moment as her head slowly bobbed back and fourth. "Ra'chel!" the girl spoke up suddenly, "didn't you used to attend Duar'wyn?"

Ra'chel looked over at Aka'. "Yeah. I did." She was puzzled as to why Aka wanted to know. Then realized her pink book pack still had the school's name still emblazoned on it.

Bu'lla yawned widely as he watched. "Yeah, but when couldn't a light tank scatter and run?" he replied to the my'leke before clearing his throat.

"Tank-only games are so boooring. Look at him waiting there to see if he can catch them cresting the hill, you really need infantry to spice these things up. It would have been more fun if that light tank had rammed one of those other tanks." He said aloud, still looking unexcited as he waited for something interesting to happen on screen like explosions or something, although his tail gently swishing gave away some of his interest.

Overhearing Bu'lla, Aka' could only grin. He's going to be in for a surprise later, she grinned like a cat who had just gotten the canary. "Watch watch!"

-

The mediun tanks stayed still for several minutes before they started to move, the light tanks had long since disappeared over the hill and were no longer in sight - but the medium tanks and their commander choose not to crest that same hill but instead took anther route around it, heading toward a large forest that would cut across the battleground.

The other image showed the light tanks making steady movements across the wide open plains that parelled the forest, they seemed unaware that their opponents were already 'in' the forest - having used it to cut time - and were now watching them slowly. Suddenly several shots rang out, taking out three of the light tanks instantly and causing the remainder to once again scatter... all except for one, which turned toward the forest and gunned its engines. Dirt flew up in the air as shells hit the ground around it, but missing them almost entirely or just grazing the sides - its speed made it very difficult to track and likewise difficult to hit.

Within moments the light tank was only a few feet from the closest medium tank and then seconds later - rammed into the side of it, taking out the tanks anti-gravity pod which caused it to slump to the side; this ram didn't take out the light tank although it did crumple its forward second - including taking out the barrel. As the tank came about, a medium tank fired a shot, but the shot missed and instead hit its allied tank; taking it out of the match entirely as a white flag popped up out of its turret.

-

Around them, a few of the spectors shook their heads while one let out a curse, with another saying. "Those idiots..."

Aka' choose not say anything, it was a game, and in a game mistakes happen, all she had was a big grin on her face.

Bu'lla just grinned savagely as he watched the destruction on screen. One eyebrow raised in surprise at this unexpected entertainment.

"At last, one of those light tanks knows what it's doing." He said, his voice taking an almost diabolical tone. "With that medium tank immobilized the enemy now have the choice to hold position and try to save it or abandon it to its fate. I'd say that's worth one light tank."

Bu'lla took a bite out of a piece of jerky he'd bought with him as a snack, continuing to speak with food in his mouth uncaringly.

"Although, if it was me, I'd just steal one of theirs and do the same thing. I hope I get to meet that driver someday, would be fun."

Ra'chel watched the maneuvers, secretly cheering on the light tanks, eyes flickering between the two screens. She had taken off her pack and was using it as a seat. Since everyone was watching the display unfold.

Vin'cent crossed his arms and sighed through his nose as he watched the action unfold. He could tell the Light tanks were now at a disadvantage. They were stuck out in the open with a fortified enemy with heavier armaments in the wooded area with their sights on them. The light tank that was harassing the Mediums might cause enough havoc for the light tanks to capitalize, but their now lowered numbers and topographical disadvantage would likely prove it too little, too late. "But then, I'm no expert at this rancor business." He reminded himself. The Lights still had a chance, surely.

Kaui just stayed silent studying everything, she wasn't seeming to let anything break her focus from the game, her legs crossing one over the other as her tail shifts left to right calmly as her ears stay alert.

Bu'lla, meanwhile, felt the oppression of silence greatest of them all, and if there's one thing Bu'lla couldn't stand, it was oppression, particularly against himself. First he cleared his throat, and then shuffled sideways towards Kaui. Then scratched his ear, perhaps slightly nervous.

He turned straight towards her and asked bluntly. "Hey Kaui, you wanna go make out?"

Ra'chel snickered overhearing Bu'lla, which turned into giggles, getting stares, which made the giggles turn into outright laughter as she tried to suppress it, which made it all the harder to stop, instead of going with the flow and letting it pass through her.
