Symbols of Yamatai?

So, over the last little while I have been working on a pet project. I figured this would be a perfect time to ask this question though.

The Yamatai Star Army! Possibly the Largest and most Prodominant Military in this entire setting. What are things that a soldier would have? What are the most iconic things a soldier would have?

I am not looking for Power Armour. I know that Power Armour is used right across the board by the SAoY, but for what I am doing, I'm not using Power armour.

I need armour, weapons, and equipment. Things your run of the mill non PA-Toting, possibly even non-neko Yamataian might be sent into the feild with. Asking for your guys' help on this because well, who would know it better?

Standard issues equipment, pistols, rifles LMGs, body armour, IFAK equivilants, the works. I am fully aware I could just go and look up this stuff, but I wanted to see what you guys would think? Maybe you have thoughts and opinions on the contrary? Maybe you prefer the older style stuff? No PA required equipment though. Can't stress that one enough >.>

There will be an Open RP I'll be doing involving all this information in the future.

@Wes, if you don't mind, could you give me the same information for the Kluvexians?I would really appreciate that!

Looking it up would be a good place to start, otherwise it's hard to talk about it without repeating the wiki. To start with, those not using PA still have the Star Army Standard Issue. According to the Infantry page, the older, non-PA 'light' and 'heavy' infantry are now rare. The former wears partial armour and may be deployed on foot, the latter wears armoured environment suits and would be deployed from vehicles.

They still have about the same training, otherwise, so they'd likely rely on rifles and grenades with their NSPs as a backup weapon, though they also might be more specialized for their role, with heavy infantry focused more on assault and squad tactics, and light infantry more focused on survival and scouting.

You could just look it up, but since I've got nothing else to reply to, light infantry would wear a Traditional Flak Vest, most infantry would use a GP-12 Phased Pulse Rifle or Star Army Rifle, Type 33. SMGs are no longer in use, and there was never an LMG. The Star Army First Aid Kit, Type 32 is an IFAK. Non-powered infantry gear is older-styled stuff, because non-powered infantry themselves are virtually obsolete.

The Star Army of Yamatai doesn't actually have a type of infantry unit that does not use power armor. It's standard issue. Even the Star Army's cooks and clerks get a Mindy or a Daisy. The Mindy is on the Star Army Hinomaru because it's the most iconic thing Star Army soldiers have.

For non-power armor troops, the most iconic thing was the old Traditional Flak Vest.

That is interesting, which raises a quesiton, why isn't powered armor the millitary uniform?

It's considered equipment rather than clothing by the Star Army, If Nekovalkyrja spent all their time in power armor that would make them reminiscent a certain grimdark universe I suppose. Using armor as the uniform might make sense in that universe but this isn't that universe and not all Star Army soldiers are in constant combat. There are plenty of non-combat tasks in the Army that clothing is good for but armor is not. For every combat soldier there's cooks, clerks, doctors, technicians, etc who are doing support stuff and it doesn't make sense to wear armor for flipping burgers in the ship galley or stacking toilet paper boxes at the Central Fleet Depot.
