Motoyama Kaori

Inactive Member
Motoyama walked up to the large viewing window. His dark eyes staring forward at the massive ship. He'd finally found a way to get into the outer reaches of space...where he would hopefully encounter what he hated. He continued on to the ships docking around. His feet carrying him most proudly.

Upon arrival to the entrance to this ship, he stopped and set his papers down. "Taii Motoyama Kaori, reporting for duty aboard the YSS Celia."
All that was left, was to be granted access to the ship and find the commanding officer he had to report to.

The large hatch that led the Celia slid open with an almost inaudible hiss, allowing Motoyama entry to the ship. Beyond the hatch was one of the ship's airlocks, and beyond that was a corridor. A female voice seemed to emanate from somewhere beyond ceiling. "Greetings, Taii Kaori, and welcome to the YSS Celia. I am Celia Megami, the avatar and the first officer of this ship. One of the comm. officers will be with you shortly to show you around."

Surely enough, a raven-haired neko with gray streaks on her cat-ears soon walked up to the airlock. "Hello," she said Motoyama. "I'm Taii Watanabe, but please call me Kioko. You must be the new tactical officer. Taisho Chen has been expecting you. Would you like to see him now?"

He eyed the audible sound of the ship itself. Indeed, artificial intelligence was a marvelous thing and advanced combat to a new level. He nodded and stood a moment. his duffle bag resting on his shoulder. A communications officer...indeed he would more than likely work with this person in his daily routine.

He watched as the raven haired neko approached. The bag slid off his shoulder. His back went rigid, his hand came to salute. He stared forward like a machine. "Taii Kaori reporting for duty, Miss." he lowred his hand and kept his stiff pose. It was how he was. He was indeed a militaristic person. The scar ran down his eye, changing the tint a bit lighter than the other. " I would indeed like to see Taisho Chen as soon as possible, so that I may receive the specified duties of my station." His voice was rough..rash in it's tone. He was built to destroy that which stood in his path...

Kaya had received her orders and upon arrival to the ship had found the hatch already open, she started to wonder if they always left it open or if someone had arrived just before her. She shrugged after a few seconds however as she wasn't really interested and stepped into the ship.

She looked about curiously in wonder as she tried to work out where her feet should carry her next but she found herself lost. She was out of uniform and wore baggy green camo pants with a black T-shirt, she also wore grey sneakers and a strange headset, she had her gym bag strap over her right shoulder, her gym bag was a darker grey of her sneakers.

Kioko answered Motoyama's salute with a quick bow. "Of course. Follow me, please."

The neko led him down a series of long, brightly lit corridors. The walls of the corridors were lined with gray panels, and their floors were paved with blood red carpeting. Many hatches of various sizes lined both sides of the corridors. Eventually, they came in front of another large hatch, labeled "BRIDGE – Authorized Personnel Only". The hatch slid open as soon as the two approached.

As Motoyama followed Kioko inside the bridge, the first thing he saw was the neko standing near the captain's chair. The neko had long, silvery hair that flowed down her back like a waterfall. She wore a Chusa pin, and had a blank look in her eyes. Her attention was obviously focused elsewhere.

Celia's voice came down from the ceiling above Kaya's head. "Greetings, Taii Kamitaka, and welcome aboard. Do you require any assistance? Finding your way around, perhaps?" Helpfully, a holographic map of the ship appeared in front of Kaya. "You may download the map into your memory, if you wish," Celia added.

"Taii Kaori is here, sir," said Kioko before returning to her station at the front of the bridge.

Henry turned the captain's chair around to face Motoyama. The Nepleslian admiral's right eye was of a dull, dead shade of gray, which made him seem both intimidating and fragile. "Lieutenant," he said simply, acknowledging Motoyama's presence.

Kaya looked around to see where the voice was coming from but as she didn't see anyone she replied, "That's funny... I thought I knew all the voices in my head, what's your name little voice?"

As she asked she downloaded the map almost by habit from when she used to be an infiltrator.

The Celia paused for a few dozen nanoseconds while she processed Kaya's file, mostly due to her unusual response. Most nekos usually have only one voice in their head, that of their ship's avatar. The Celia made a note of Kaya's "condition". She would have to be watched closely.

"I am Celia Megami, the avatar and the first officer of this ship. I have assigned to you a room relatively close to the bridge and the astrometrics room for your convenience." A hologram of a section of the ship's map briefly reappeared before Kaya, with her room highlighted. "Drop off your luggage there first. I'm also having a sprite drop off your new uniform and rank pin in your room. You should find them there when you arrive. Get into uniform and report to the astrometrics room. I require your assistance in plotting our course to our next objective."

"Hai Megami," she said before taking her bag to her room, as she walked she could be heard talking to herself, "I'm excited too... oh look at that... HAHAHA, that's funny..."

When she arrived at her room she quickly dropped her bag down on the bed and started to get out of her casual clothes. Once she was dressed in her new uniform she stopped to admire it for a bit before running through her room door towards the astrometrics room, excited to begin her new job.

She arrived and waited for her orders, "Taii," she let out a small giggle, "Kaya reporting for duty."

He snapped to attention and saluted him. " Sir...Taii Kaori Reporting for Duty aboard the YSS Celia..." he remained rigid. His eyes staring forward. His form was large. The geshrin stood with the textbook perfection of a military officer. His left eye was as well a bit colored differently. A scar ran down it . A mark left by the dogs of war....those who opposed the Star Army. He stood with pride obviously, proud of how far he'd gotten and whom he worked for. He indeed realized the importance he was in now. He was Bridge crew. He was that which the rest of the ship would respect. He had earned it...and was quite happy with his scores from the academy, and previous experiences had seemed to bring him here he felt.

A giant, three-dimensional hologram of known space sat in the middle of the dimly lit astrometrics room.

"Let's get started then, Kaya." Celia's calm voice floated down from the ceiling. "We are currently docked inside Tami Star Fortress, which orbits the first planet of the Tami system. Our objective is a star system near Anisa, and is about 30 light years outside of the Empire's sphere of influence." As she spoke, the two star systems in question blinked to gain Kaya's attention.

"We will conduct a hyperspace fold to the Anisa system, and then use the Continuum Distortion Drive to proceed to the objective system. Once you have finished plotting out our course, report to the bridge. Taisho Chen is eager to begin our mission."

Henry nodded to Motoyama, and glanced at the silver haired neko standing near him. "You'll have to excuse our first officer. She's probably talking to someone else right now. Anyway, Taii Kaori, that..." he gestured to the station on the right side of the bridge, "is the tactical station. Its controls are fairly simple and intuitive, so I'll let you get acquainted with it in your own time. During combat situations, the pilots will be in a much better position than you to make use of the ship's weapons. It will be your responsibility to keep an eye on the weapons systems, and to alert me to emergencies such as system failures. That, however, will be a relatively minor part of your job. Your main responsibility is this..."

Henry turned to face the main view screen, while his fingers typed a few commands into his terminal. The blank view screen sprang to life, showing what appeared to be surveillance footage of the ship's cafeteria. Quite a few people were in the cafeteria, wearing Star Army uniforms of various colors. Most of them were enjoying either a light snack or a beverage, probably to calm their nerves before the mission.

"As you probably know, Taii Kaori, the Third Expeditionary is an exploration fleet. While our comrades take the fight to the enemy, we seek to expand our Empire's territory and to forge new alliances. As a consequence, you and I share this ship with the some of the most talented scientists, doctors, engineers, and diplomats that the Empire can offer. As this ship's tactical officer, Taii Kaori, it is partially your responsibility to keep these people alive. You share this responsibility with this man..."

The view screen changed to show surveillance footage of another room on the ship. A massive, 11 feet tall, rock-golem-like troll was directing Geshrins, nekos, and other trolls in installing some equipment into the room. Several chairs were already installed into the floor. Over some of the chairs hanged goggled helmets, sensor gloves, and other VR equipment. Over the other chairs hanged sinister-looking tubes and plugs.

"He is First Sergeant Pansarkedja Wikkedson, and he's in charge of the security sentries on this ship. Like you, he's a professional soldier, which is more than I can say for some of the grunts around here. Unlike you, he's been here long enough to earn the trust and respect of his subordinates. You've only just arrived. He is your only link to the security sentries down the chain of command, so treat the man with a little dignity." The main view screen faded to black.

Again, Henry gestured to the tactical station. "So, have a seat, Taii Kaori. We begin our next mission as soon as our navigator has finished plotting the course."

While the computer was giving Kaya her orders she stood quietly and watched the holographic screen and after it had finished she still stood and watched quietly as if contemplating something. After about a minute she spoke up though, "Why does bubblegum icecream have to be blue? I mean if you think about it you have lots of different flavours and colours of bubblegum but they always choose blue, also they don't even give the flavour they used they just say bubblegum, I mean how is that... maybe I should lodge a formal complaint?"

Once she had finished babbling though she seemed to notice the board finally, "Oh, well done Celly-chan you've done most of our work for us... well since we're going to skip most it with a hyperspace fold we will just add some emergency routes in case anything goes wrong and plan a mostly direct course to our target after the jump."

As she spoke she programmed everything into a nearby control panel and then left. "We go to meet our eager captain now!" That said she walked out the room and toward the bridge.

She arrived on the bridge to find the captain and waved politely to him, "Taii Kamitaka reporting for duty your eagerness."

Henry raised an eyebrow. "Right... Man your station, Taii Kamitaka." He pointed at the navigation station in the bridge.

Henry then turned to his first officer. "Celia, take us out of the station and initiate the hyperspace fold to the Anisa system."

"Aye, sir."

Soon, the YSS Celia, with her eight escort ships attached, gently propelled out of the docking bays of the Tami Star Fortress. The Celia's hyperspace fold system began manipulating the very fabric of space-time around the ship and her escorts. The ships soon flashed out of existence in normal space.
