The Battle of Ayenee? Chaos War?

After making it through numerous security checkpoints, Rufus, Kotori, and Chisou were escorted within the white masonry of the Empress' Palace by two tall Ketsurui samurai with ankle-length silky black hair. The room that the small group entered was bright red on the walls, with gold everywhere, running up the walls, lining the floors, making up the ceiling (which was one gigantic mural-statue of a battle between Nekos and Geshrin and some sort of alien race, complete with tanks and ruined buildings, all jutting out from the ceiling in gold. The explosions in the panorama were the room's light fixtures. The room had a depression in the center, and carpeted circular steps leading to it. It looked like it was perhaps an auditorium for giving speeches.

"Do you know what this is?" Rufus asked Kotori, pointing to the painting above them.

Kotori stared up. "I'm not really sure..."

"It's the defense of Ayenee in the Chaos Hive war," Rufus frowned, disappointed. "I was there, you know," he added.

"Gomen." Kotori apologised, giggling sheepishly. "I suppose I didn't pay all that much attention to my history classes."

How lame! I never could find any information on the Chaos War. None at all. I know Katsuko at some point lead an offensive in another universe against an enemy refered to as 'The Hive', and that Katsuko's battlegroup had to make a tactical retreat, but that's about the extent of my knowledge.

So... what was the Chaos War about?

I believe the Hive, an army of entities from another dimension or something (controlled by some guy), invaded and attacked Ayenee Prime, specifically ACC (Ayenee Capital City). I think I remember someone posting the start of the invasion on the old Boardhost boards, and I remember Wes being involved, but I never actually saw the end, or really anything that had much to do with it after the beginning. I think I also remember something about ACC getting nuked, but that might have been something else.

I guess I'm not much help, but I was around during that time, though I didn't see too much of the Chaos War. At least that I remember.

Oi oi -- where does the NDI and Confederacy fit into this? As they took great loses, according to a couple of tech pages.

The NDI was one of several militaries that came to Ayenee's aid during that war. The Star Army was another. It was the first time the two worked side-by-side, and the start of their current state of alliance.

Okay, but what about the war itself? Just what actually happened in it? What were the stakes, the reasons for it happening? I'd like this thread to have a slightly more comprehensive response.

Aliens ("The Hive") invaded the planet, most notably the capital city. The defending militaries, working side by side but not formally allied were The Grand Star Army (now Star Army of Yamatai), the Ayenee Defense Force, The Nerimian Defense Initiative, Feisar Armaments, and possibly the Ayenee Mobile Space Coalition and Koqui Imperial Forces.

Basically, the fighting occured first in the streets, then went to the sewers. While the GSA had tanks and infantry, it did did not have power armors at the time. The enemy used extremely tough bioweapons (in the neko sense of the word--think Zerg).

Eventually, we killed them all.
