Esther eyed the green-haired medic for a second, before putting on her best attempt at a friendly, if a little weary smile. "Alright, so what do you need... Private Dream?" She inquired, not entirely sure what the report detailed, but figuring she was going to find out very soon.
"Something has to be done, ma'am. The report describes in detail the 'Cyberhole Incident' and specifically, accounts the responsibility of it to Sergeant Decane." Rose kept counting the odd squeezes of her hand in the back of her head, "In short: he got someone in his squad brutally raped because of his gross negligence, and another one of them shot up. That's not taking into account the b-black eye the core probably will take." She was obviously upset, and trying to keep from letting it seep into her words more. "He OD'd her and has no place 's a medic or a leader." She said, firmly.
"Hmm..." Esther mumbled, flipping through the document. Though she'd miss most of the details, she'd need to at least know what Rose was talking about before attempting to dignify the medic's statement with an answer.
She shut the folder, her features a bit grimmer than before. "Admittedly, this is a not something I wanted to deal with right away. I've just been given a commission to an officer rank, and this is my first military crew." The former merchant sighed a bit, removing her naval cap. "But regardless of how prepared I am to deal with it, this is a very important matter. If I can confirm it with the hospital and contact Central Corps, he's going to be facing very serious charges."
"Everything is in there. I've been t-o med school." The medic replied, frowning. "It's very detailed. The rest of the reports should corroborate it, ma'am. It's worse, I hear he's IPG too." The woman nodded slightly, "So something'll be done after all?"
"Honestly? I'll do my best to make sure that he doesn't get away with this scot-free. And if it had been on the ship, I would have personally seen to it that he got what was coming to him." Esther said, her expression growing increasingly uncomfortable. "But as it is, he might get off with just a slap on the wrist. It'll be too easy to lay blame on your friend or claim that none of you weren't responsible enough to stay close to her while she was under the influence."
“I went after her as quick as I could!" Rose was scowling, "It ain't easy to put blame on us, the whole squad saw 'm use it without ask'n when it wasn't called for. She was just a lil' riled, and he didn't follow after that. By any right she was 'is patient." The woman needed something to grab onto, her counting was starting not to work. Her failure to help another Marine was obviously still sticking to her.
"Listen Rose... I need you to calm down." Esther replied in a firm, but gentle manner as she placed her arm on the medic's shoulder. It would be impossible to continue this conversation properly if Rose couldn't keep a clear head."From what I'm hearing, he jumped the gun on giving her medication, not even bothering to diagnose her and think to see if it was appropriate. Then, when there was obviously a problem, he didn't bother. Until... Private Newman forwarded the recording and maps to everyone?"
"Yeah..he got shot for his trouble. Me, him, an' Sealus the other medic were looking for her when the feed went live." Rose explained, shuddering at the recollection of the dog exploding. Feeling it on her faintly a wave of nausea swept through her. She was fighting very hard not to grab onto their XO's arm, her scowl looking more concentrated. "How are we supposed to look him in the eye and follow orders? I'm sorry..the unit I came from no one does this shit, you know?" Her voice softened out.
"Not in the corps, as far as I'm concerned.." The young woman added.
"...I can't promise you an outcome..." Esther sighed, removing her arm from the medic's shoulder and rubbing her temples with the index fingers of both hands. "...I'll do my best to ensure this doesn't happen again."
"Bastard might as well be a red.." Rose breathed, nodding to the officer. "I'll hope that will be enough of a promise for everyone else. Sorry to step under your command like this."
"Was there anything else?" The commander asked.
"What do you want those of us in the squad to do 'till then? I mean P3C Sealus 'n I are both under him at medbay. Thinks we're his slaves.." She sighed, "He could override my undertaking Balfour's after care. Aside from it just be'n bad, ma'am."
"From what I've seen in his psych profile, he's more likely to get stoned and listen to some ska than do something like that." Esther replied, finding the statement to be a little ridiculous. "But if he does anything that puts anyone under medbay's care in danger, contact me immediately and I'll have him relieved of duty."
"All right, ma'am." She came back to attention, offering a salute. "Thank you for the time."
"Thank you for bringing this to my attention. You're dismissed." Esther replied, making a quick naval salute.
With that, Rose dropped her salute, took a step back, and hurriedly gathered her bag before exiting into the hall.
