DEFCON Everybody Dies
Slum would probably be an overstatement for the state of this particular stretch of urban decay, the various scents of humanity mingling in a pungent odor that hung in the humid wet air. Everything was still moist after a brief downpour less then an hour ago, it made the Nepleslian standing in front of a particular door with a small glowing bulb above it annoyed. A small ember danced off the edge of his lips as he took another long drag off of the coffin nail as his eyes glanced off into the shadows, always watching for something out of place.. something that didn't belong.

There weren't many left in Tokyo after all the turmoil and war that Jiyuu had been through. The few that remained were but shadows of the soldiers and colonists they'd once been, surviving only for the promise of another day's sustenance. Outlaws called it home now, too, finding comfort in the once-glorious mega city that nobody remembered and its dregs nobody wanted to save.

High above the Nepleslian, a warrior stepped along the shattered edge what had once been an apartment block, its entire east facing obliterated by some Star Army or NMX super weapon. Her clothing made little contrast with the twisted city scape save for a strip of soiled crimson hanging bright under her dark grey cloak. Her presence did little to disturb the world around her, and she moved through the wrecked building as if she were another one of its desecrated, dead fixtures.

There was a third player in this story, a lone figure.. wrapped in the strange shimmering form of a thermoptic cloak. His slow, step by step pace allowing illusion to maintain it's appearance as he approached the sentry. A light clack getting his attention as the now doomed door guard turned toward the strange patch of air, squinting his eyes. The man watched somewhat stunned as the air itself seemed to move... then a flash... a dull thud that lightly echoed off the walls but quickly faded. The sound of a shell casing bouncing off the ground as a wet thud followed. Slowly.. the figure stepped into the light, the almost reaper like figure partially visible partially hidden as two more muffled shots obliterated the small pad lock that barred his entrance.

The goals strangely where similar for both intruders all the way down to where and how their information was acquired. Of course nether realized the machinations behind their missions nor the collision course that had been set in this back alley of a ruined city.

The building the nepleslian had entered and that was now under the gaze of the sword wielding Yamatain warrior was a three story industrial building far past it's prime. Even during the hayday of the United Outer Colonies this particular block had been a nest of the underground and now was among the many first links in the chain of the slavery trade. The building's vast warehouse space perfect for the operation that was being carried out behind it's walls.

The person who was at the top of this small pyramid of a local gang was once a young and upcoming officer in the Star Army of Yamatai, greed and bullheadedness ended her career with one court martial. Years on the run in the ghettos from Yamatai to the streets of Funky City finally left her a vicious and evil soul.

Covered in a cloak of her own that showed little of her besides a pair of red eyes and what looked like a set of scars, another form began to move toward the building. She had been given a target, and was here to eliminate the demon that plagued the empire. She was silent as she moved, her clothing tight to her to reduce sound as she weaved through the wreckage of the slum with all the ease and grace of a predator. While focused, she was observant of the world at large, watching forms and others all around her to make sure none were able to sneak up on her. Eventually she found her way around the side of the building, figuring discretion was the best bet. What greeted her was a dead body and a shot pad locked door.

Instantly her eyes narrowed.

She had been told she was the only one on this task and quickly her head whipped around, trying to locate the other person, trying to see if this was maybe a trap. Her body, cloak and all, vanished from sight quickly as she activated her body's natural cloaking system. Deciding to forgo her cloak she had been wearing, it was discarded just inside of the building she entered as a hand gripped the sword on the left side of her waist. She was silent as she moved further into the building, her skin vision on and keeping a eye on everything she could.
