History
He is the younger child of a Geshrin freighter pilot. As a child, he lived aboard the freighter and traveled to many planets and stations. Unlike his sister, however, he did not like to leave the freighter to explore these places and make new friends. His only friend, Travus Polark, was the freighter's cook, but he also hobbied as an amateur hacker. Travus taught Valen a lot about the world of information. This inspired to join the Star Army of Nepleslia as a computer specialized marine. Although he doesn't do any of the actual fighting, he does hack into terminals aboard enemy ships to disable and possibly take control of the ship's security systems.
Skills
Information Technology: He has a great understanding of AI and OS Systems. After several academy courses, he eventually managed to create his own AI system. From certain terminals, he will be able to hack into the critical systems aboard a ship. If he manages to get to the bridge, he will be able to tinker with the ship's AI system, too.
Technology Operation: Computers are a no-brainer for him. He has his own personal laptop, but he needs to manually plug it into a password-secured terminal or something to have any affect. He isn't all-powerful enough to wirelessly hack into it, like some people seem to believe.
Mathematics: He has taken several math courses, which include trigonometry, advanced algebra, and a even bit of calculus.
Fighting: Like all marines, he has been trained in the use of hand-to-hand, combat knives, sidearms, energy rifles, and grenades.
Maintenance and Repair: If needed to, he can also try to temporarily repair the AI system and even retake the security systems if they are hacked.
Engineering: He managed to design and create his own AI system. He calls it "Tori". It resides in his laptop and aids him in his efforts to hack into terminals and other AIs.
Arts and Vocations: One of his favorite hobbies since childhood is painting. He isn't very good at it, but he loves it none-the-less.
