What should we name the next Star Army plot ship?

Nah...A real tribute to Weber would be the YSS Nike.

OOooo...I didn't think of that one. *sighs* yeahhhh....but the Fearless came first.

I never thought I'd say this, but most Yamataian warships have Japanese names, right?

Yeah. I know. But what if we take these English names and translate it into Japanese?

(Hmm...actually...the current name of the Goban's shuttle is Adauchi, which I think means Vengeance and/or Retaliation...well, go ahead and scratch those two off the list...)

Ruhe Station - "Serenity in Chaos"

Far from the ravages of war, a station lies, an island of sanity in the chaotic winds of known space...

A recently constructed station (of whatever class Gemini is), orbiting the world of Albini, designed for civilians to rest and relax, and to serve as a place to recover for Star Army ships. Run by the First Standard Fleet under the young Taisa Arisa Marina, the station has a variety of business outlets, restaurants, and other services, as well as a full defense fleet and repair facilities.

The plot is designed for a hybrid of JP and SP, depending on the current subplot. Its classification is somewhat of a hybrid - such a station would have new people, and thus new opportunities, every day. Little chance for combat is expected, but when it does come, be warned - I'm adopting Fred's rule on character death.

The main plots would, of course, focus on the administration of Ruhe and their social dramas. With a largely automated station there is little to do, and so long as each crewmember fulfills their duties, the Taisa has no problem with the crew using the facilities the station has to offer. And with infinite possibilities for NPCs, well, then...

To help facilitate action when it is required, one of the Sakura gunships based on Ruhe is designated for Marina and her subordinates. Should someone need support or something need to be explored, the mobility is there.

Another feature of the plot is the exploration and excavation of Albini by archeologists. The planet may hold untold secrets that no human has ever dreamed of! Of course, they may find something more sinister...

And of course, civilian subplots, pirate subplots, and many others, may find themselves crossing the path of Marina's expert security force. Violence, hilarity, romance, and intrigue abound.

As a GM, I demand from my players consistent performance. It's nothing I don't demand from myself, mind you, so no worries. The upper ranks of the station will be hand-picked by yours truly, and anyone else who wishes to join is welcome - but I reserve the right to refuse anyone for any reason.

How's that for a proposal? :3

'Gemini station' is a Scorpio-class Star Fortress... or so Wes has been dubbing it the last time I checked out the page he was writing on it.

Ah. Well, then Ruhe would be a Scorpio-Class then, perhaps modified for more general-purpose civilian use.

For the record, 'Ruhe' is German for 'Silence', continuing the common theme found in the proposal.

What's your astrological sign, FM?

...you're not thinking of making a Taurus-class station, are you?
All Scorpio-class stations are being named after astrological signs.

FM seems to be the man for this project (it kind of makes me want to promote the heck out of Elisa) and Albini seems to be the location...I'd also consider Gemini (lots of combat opportunities, not next door to Yamatai) or Tsuyosa (so many systems in that area to claim!).

To everyone: any names others picked that you like? So far, the only name that's been suggested twice that I see is Victory. I can only put ten options on the poll so I'm only going to add names nominated more than once.

Wait, Zodiac-naming scheme? *thinks about his targeting nomenclature* Darn.

I discourage the use of Tsuyosa for the moment, seeing that I'm not done with it yet. Please indulge me for being a secretive bastard whom wants to pull off the bigger line of his mission's objectives right. Wait and see how it turns out.

As for the name... I think it sounds an awful lot like the Valiant. Could we avoid picking another V word?

How about Pisces Station then? Fits the theme better.

I do like my concept but I'm willing to run just about anything. I'm keeping my concept for the captain, though.

Oh, and promotions? Yes please. >.>

You know, normally I'd protest about premature rises in rank... but I find myself in a very bad position to actually do so. ^_^;

Hey, 1st XF has been very good with rank increases compared to the 5th XF; no offense, but they left us with a bunch of officers I don't have slot for.

What I mean is that by leveling up Elisa (heh), FM actually loses his player character. Not to mention, and forgive me for being so blunt, but Elisa doesn't look ready for officer ranks, much less a command (Yui told that too Kotori too, once, I'll have you recall).

I kinda miss having Kotori as a player character, so, I wouldn't wish it on another if there was a choice. A choice such as actually creating a new character for the job.

But wait - there's a character limit. Nevermind ~_~;

There's no concievable way Elisa could get any kind of command anytime soon (as much as she wants to someday). She's untrained, undisciplined, and far too low in rank currently. Thus the new captain concept..

But then, like you said, there *is* a character limit to contend with...however, neither character is in active use (one is in the perpetually-glacial Lorath plot and the other can't be used until Tom gets back).

I made the forum. Being at Albini, I'm thinking most of the ships that might stop by would be from the 1st Standard Fleet, although I'm not sure if the 1st XF would actually run the fortress or not - so far, Scorpio-class fortresses (unlike Iori Star Fortresses) have generally been autonomously run.
