Wiki Discussion

I've been doing a little bit of Wiki editing here and there. But mainly on the YSS Goban. I added a crewlist. Maybe I should add the inactive member list.

One little problem I think we'll have is conflicting formats of writing down member lists. Is there a Template page we can put up for easy reference?

Hmm, close, but I mean as in a wikified code template which can copy/pasted into articles for things such as Character Bios, Ship Crew Lists which display rank pin with a link to bio and orders among other things.

You could copy and modify the Sakura's one if you like it.

Question for Wes:

Most often a race's culture and lifestyle is a product of being raised inside that race's nation, not of genetic on inherent programming. So should information on a race's common cultural go under the page of the national government or the page of the species itself? It's hard decide where to put it since most often national governments play a larger role on shaping culture than genetics do...

If the species is culturally diveded, there should be seperate sections for each government under the species page, I think (or links to the gov pages where the cultures would each be listed)

Guys, I want you all to help move stuff from the old pages (for example starships) to the Wiki. It's simple copy-and-paste stuff we're talking about here (aside from some easy formatting--this wiki is easy to learn). Please participate. The wiki pages are going to replace the old HTML ones.

Woot! The Wiki just hit 100 pages!

Whoever that phantom editor with no login is, see me for an increase in forum rank. You just fixed like 50+ typos. Your host is neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl.

I would, actually.

My main problem with the wiki is that I freaking don't know how it works. I'm pretty good at forum formatting... but not wiki formatting. If I already have a set standard, I can use it to present my character bio in a more decent fashion.

Edit:
On second thought, no. I still really hate this thing.

It's simple.
Code:
Regular text

====== Big Title Heading ======

===== Big Section Heading =====

==== Medium Section Heading ====

  * List Item
    * Indented List Item

Paragraph

New paragraph (blank lines create new paras)

**bold text**
//Italic Text//

So I was going through adding pages for some of the starships that are without, and ran into a number of pieces of conflicting information for the Ketsueki. First, some sources:

Ketsueki Attack Frigate
Ketsueki-class Frigate

So it's a frigate, right? Oh hang on, the description on the first page says it's a corvette. And, erm, what's this? The wiki link and the Type 29 Fleet Plan call it an escort, but the text in the fleet plan says it doesn't count as an escort. WTF, anyone? (kekeke, wordfiltared)

Also, while most of the stats on the two pages seem to match up, some of them are completely different. CDD speeds of 36,200c vs 2300c for example. I'd assume that the first link is the most current one, judging mostly from the model nomenclature used, but at first I assumed it wasn't because the page layout seemed of an older style than the second. In short, can we get a ruling on which is canon and have the other removed so that the Google search doesn't give a hit on it and confuzzle me? Cheers.

It's a corvette. Why it says frigate on the first page you link, I don't know, but it's a corvette. The description for the rest of the page never mentions it being a frigate, only a corvette. It USED to be classified as a frigate, I guess.

It's considered an escort because it doesn't fall into any other category clearly. It's no gunship, it's certainly not a cruiser, etc. The model should be listed as decommissioned, even though it remains in the Type 29 Fleet Plan.

And yes, the first page you link to is the most current one, the one where it has more modern weapon pods and a faster CDD speed.

Wes once informed me that his vision of the way KFY organized their vessels was to make it so that most would be able to multitask. That said, he's favoring dividing his warships into the following categories:

- Battleships
- Carriers
- Cruisers
- Gunships
- Escorts
- Scoutships

In addition, there are:
- Cargo Transports
- Freighters
- Repair Ships
- Training Vessels (possibly)
- Star Fortresses
