RP: YSS Takamagahara YSS Takamagahara - Prologue - Hoisting the Colors

YSS Takamagahara, Bridge

Hitomi - too stunned to do anything else - accepted the hug, even blushing slightly as the Kohosei's ample chest pressed up against her own, and upon hearing the latter's words, trembled slightly, unable to put her heartfelt gratitude into words. Arigatō....

When the Kohosei pulled away, the Taii - to her surprise - almost immediately missed the junior Mini's warm embrace - Stay...please... - then suddenly found her adrift thoughts yanked back to reality by Shuichi's comment, responding after shaking her head a few times in order to clear her mind.
"I'm...fine, Shuichi-Hei. Please, carry on." Focus. An officer such as yourself must never show weakness in front of others.

Then the MEGAMI arrived behind a refreshment cart. Selecting a small cup of steaming-hot Earl Grey, Hitomi thanked the AI with a nod, then turned to answer the Shosa's (strange, in the Taii's opinion) question. "Nothing at the moment, Shosa. Shall I begin the final preparations for departure?"

Floating behind the refreshment cart that entered the bridge was another newly assigned mini-Neko crewmember, seeming to be a little bit late to the party. She didn't seem to be stressed about it, though, holding herself with a calm grace of someone who knows they are exactly where they should be even if circumstances were not ideal. Her champagne-colored skin and violet eyes were set above a button nose and a perpetual serene smile, along with neatly tied back lavender hair in a traditional hime cut in styling. In her hands was also a tiny covered plate with a red bow on top.

As she came upon the two officers having tea time, the apparently ranked Nito Hei gave a little surprised start followed by a polite bow. "Sumimasen... I hope I am not interrupting..." Her voice and mannerisms gave off a nurturing presence on the bridge proper, though, a fact that Hitomi likely welcomed.

YSS Takamagahara, Bridge

Shuichi stood and stared with a concerned look for a moment at Hitomi before bowing to the Taii and Shosa, vacating the room. As she was leaving she saw the refreshment cart passing by, and couldn't resist pillaging it, coming away with a small strawberry that was still easily the size of her own head, briefly acknowledging the medic following behind the cart before moving on.

With her previous concerns all but forgotten, she merrily traversed the halls of the ship. Cheeks bulging with the juicy goodness, and with what may or may not have been juice from said red fruit going down the side of her mouth.

"I wonder if that MEGAMI is any good at therapy." she tried to say to herself, but it came out more like "hm hmm mmm hmhm hmm."

Bridge

Momoe nodded and sipped at her drink. "Yes, please" she replied to Hitomi's question. "We should have all our crew and supplies aboard soon, then I want to get out into space as quick as possible" she went on with a nod.

She then spotted the newcomer on the bridge. "Hi, welcome to the ship!" she greeted the mini medic. "You must be Umeki Ayame. Have something to drink and some cookies" she indicated the cart full of refreshments with a wave of her tiny hands.

Some Time Later...

The Takamagahara's full crew compliment was aboard, as were all the needed supplies, weapons, munitions, etc, etc, etc, that a fifteen hundred meter long battleship needed to function out in the depths of space. Now the massive warship was ready to go. All final system checks had passed with green lights, the airlocks had been sealed and the battleship had detached herself from Leo Star Fortress. Now she slowly moved away from her docking port, being guided by space tugs, the small craft locked onto key points along her hull, using their powerful thrusters to maneuver the great warship away from Leo with more accuracy and delicacy than her own drives could accomplish in such a tight spot.

Clear of the star fortress, the tugs detached themselves from her hull and backed away, leaving the massive warship free to maneuver under her own power. On the bridge, Ise Momoe, captain of Her Majesties battleship YSS Takamagahara stood on her command chair, left arm outstretched, tiny index finger pointing towards the stars, or, more the viewscreen that dominated the forward wall of the bridge.

"Full speed ahead!" She commanded in a firm and impressively loud voice for someone so tiny. The battleship's massive aether drives lit up, blasting cones of blue-white fire from their nozzles as the ship began to move, quickly building up speed as she gathered way and rocketed away from the star fortress, her sharp pronged bow aimed for the depths of space. The Takamagahara, first ship of it's scale to be crewed entirely by mini Nekovalkyrja was away on her first mission!

That first mission, while important, was nothing special, just a shakedown cruise to allow the new crew to become familiar with the ship and themselves, no chance of excitement or distinction or battle or any fun stuff like that, which one might expect from a plot set upon a battleship armed with so many big guns.

At least that's what one might have thought for the first few hours of their cruise. The Takamagahara completed the first 2 legs of her FTL transit, jumping, aligning, jumping again, all without incident, the ship had been fully tested, serviced and accepted and free of the usual issues a new ship had right out of the yards, before even being sent to Leo Star Fortress for assignment. But now, as she dropped out of FTL to align for jump 3 in her course to the outer limits of Tenth Fleet's territories, energy bleeding off her hull from the CDD drive, a distress beacon pinged on her long range detectors.

Detection of the signal immediately lit up indicators on multiple bridge stations, including the lead Starship Operator, SAINT operative Emi and Executive Officer Hitomi's panels, flashing and chirping in demand of attention.

As the ship left Leo Star Fortress, Emi found herself within her own thoughts, taking in how surreal it all was. There were a lot of firsts for her with this latest assignment. It was her first time on a starship underway, aside from shuttles of course. It was her first time as a Bridge Officer... something that made her extremely excited, but few would be able to tell. And it was the first time she would find her attention pulled to her panel signifying something significant. Wait... a distress signal? I wonder if this is a test or if we're in for trouble...

"Shosa, Taii, long range sensors have picked up a distress signal at the edge of their range. I'm analysing the source now with MEGAMI's assistance." Emi took a moment to quickly enter a few commands and brought up a volumetric display with information regarding the signal. Anything that could be determined she focused on, from distance to signal strength; from frequency used to any possible interference there may or may not have been. Her findings would be sent to the lead Operator, the XO, and the CO. Let's not screw this up. Just be cool... you've practiced this a thousand times before.

Bridge

The uneventfulness of the past few hours had been quite beneficial for Hitomi, who'd since changed into the the Class B uniform, finished storing away the rest of her gear, and - more importantly - regained some semblance of her usual ice-cold composure.

She'd even managed to convince herself that the Takamagahara's maiden voyage would be uneventful when the distress signal came in.

Something's amiss... thought the Taii as she acknowledged Emi's report with a curt nod. "Shosa, I'd recommend exercising caution...the timing of this, right upon our departure from fold-space, seems too convenient to be a mere coincidence."

Though there wasn't any outward sign of it, Hitomi at that moment felt something else as well: a sense of dread. Of pure, ominous dread...and to make it worse, she hadn't the slightest idea of the cause.

YSS Takamagahara, Engineering

Wearing a freshly fabricated uniform, Miiko sat kicking her legs upon the railing of the catwalk looming over the engineering bay below. When the general crew had begun to board Miiko was delighted to discover that she wasn't the sole individual responsible for the maintenance of the Takamagahara's numerous systems. As it was a small group of red panelled minineko like herself were wandering around the machines below in varying states of idleness while looking busy, after all things continue to operate within ideal parameters, so they didn't have much work.

Closing her eyes to focus on the sounds of the generators and fold drive Miiko sighed happily to herself, she had come to love the sounds of the Sharie-class and she was sure that the ship would continue to win her heart as time progressed. Returning her gaze to those below her, Miiko settled her sight on the quieter of the Amaterasu twins who happened to be settled in with a computer terminal overseeing some function of the ship presumably leaving Miiko with little reason to bother any of those who were overseeing general operations.

Normally in such circumstances she would have tried for a nap, however the excitement and circumstance of her first day aboard a new ship seemed a like a mix that would earn the wrath of the Taii should she discover any overt relaxation despite the lack of any tasks to preform.

YSS Takamagahara, Engineering

The quiet hum of the engineering, the soft conversation of busy-looking idle mini nekos, the sharp clang of a accidently dropped tool and subsequent apology from the offender some distance off... All these things seemed to be insignificant and hardly noticeable to Aki who watched her terminal with the interest of passionate reader enjoying one of their all time favorites. Scanning the system and looking for errors, or the lack there of, was like reading a novel.

To her, there was such a depth, such life to the coding she perused. Each system was like its own character, with its own personality based on the needs of the design. There was just as much "life" to the Takamagahara's computer as those that walked and breathed around her, though few could see it as she did. Much to her surprise, the newly commissioned ship had so few glitches or errors that needed to be fixed, however when she found something that needed her attention it was handled promptly and thoroughly.

Aki was in her element, the place where she thrived, a place where she was most comfortable. Having gotten the final "All Clear" from her diagnostics and system stress tests Aki finally took note of a subtle yet enjoyable scent hanging within the air. It probably wasn't something everyone could pick up on, but being that which she enjoyed to a great extent, Aki was able to detect Miiko was nearby with her barely noticeable sweet mint fragrance. Finally peeling her eyes away from the terminal, she tilted her head, looked to the Chief Engineer in her newly fabricated uniform, and offered a soft semi-smile and a meek wave of her hand.

"Uehara-Heisho, MEGAMI and the Takamagahara are nominal. Everything is within acceptable operating parameters." Aki offered to Miiko wordlessly, in a reserved fashion.

Bridge

Ise Momoe's ears pirked up at the announcement of a distress call. She listened to the report from her SAINT operative, then the suggestion from her Exec.

"I completely agree, Number one. This is a conveniant spot for an ambush" she replied as shd leaned forward in her chair. "Amaterasu Shoi, keep scanning and report any new information you come up with" she said and opened a volumetric window, looking over some info.

"Okay, take us to general quarters, Number One, prep the power armor teams for space operations and get our fighters out, I want them scouting out ahead of us" she went on. "Weps, warm up the guns" she added to the gunner.

Emi's screen showed more data as it came streaming in. The signal was coming from an asteroid cluster some fifty thousand kilometers off their port bow, there was a slight energy signature emminating from the center of the cluster, but otherwise nothing more.

Bridge

Ayame smiled. "Yes, that would be me. I must say it's so nice to be on a ship where everyone is so welcoming... it must be the mini-Neko charm at work. If only the whole of the Star army was so!" She then deposited the doll-sized fancy dish on the cart and untied the bow, and as the wrapping fell away it revealed a neat little pile of fruit tarts of various flavors that gave off a sweet aroma that only something hand baked fresh only a short time ago could do. "Thank you for the generous offer of tea, but I must be going to the Medical Bay. I hope you and your hardworking staff enjoy these sweet shipwarming gifts in my place, Ise-shosa." Her violet eyes lingered a moment on Nakadai-taii, sensing a bit of tension, prompting her to add: "My door is always open if you need to talk about anything, as I'm also an accomplished therapist in addition to a medic." With that said, the Itto Hei bowed again deeply to the assembled officers, her lavender hair following her movements perfectly, as excused herself politely with a "itte kimasu", implying that the ship already felt like home and she was like the mother leaving for a quick trip to the store.

Medical Laboratory

Umeki-hei was a bustle of activity preparing everything in the Sakura Medical Laboratory for what may lie ahead. It was much like the one she was used to on a Plumeria gunship, thankfully, although the orientation was different with some equipment and the size was much larger. She hummed to herself a traditional tune, as she directed the nodal system to sterilize the treatment beds, containment cells, hemosynth tubes, and other places as a housewife would. Even the cabinets and fridges were arranged with utmost care and attention to detail. Everything needed to be spotless... nothing less would do for her new mini-Neko family that was now entrusted to her care.

It also seemed like the tiny Medic had also made some slight alteration to the very sterile-looking place, having replaced the drab privacy and operations room curtains with ones with a relaxing, floral print on them. There was even a few small baby animal plushies around to hug, too, for those who enjoyed the feeling of security they brought. Pictures of famous nebulas, planetary vistas, and other notable places in space were hung on the walls, so even those recuperating in a Hemosynthetic tube for long periods would have something inspiring and uplifting to stare at. Walking in, it was obvious that the ship's new doctor's philosophy was that a relaxed mind meant a stronger body for the purposes of healing.

As her workspace was finally setup, Ayame then opened the doors to her patients welcomingly. As the more technical staff put the ship through its folds, she began churning through the bevvy of personnel on the massive battleship. There were literally thousands of physicals to do, and mental backups to be written and saved. And she did it all with a cheery disposition, letting no mini-Neko that came through leave without feeling like they were the most special little individual in the universe.

Ise Atago flown into the room, sitting on her FARS drone, stopped mid-air and gave aerial bow to captain of the ship and first officer. The bow of course caused various tectonic movement over her very womanly figure. "Howdy pardners," chimmed the drone in gung-ho cowboy voice and Atago stomped it in anger. That was not exactly a good thing to happen. Atago only flew the drone, because it was faster that way.

This would be actually first time Atago met the commanding officers, while she was on the ship. The blonde boarded well beforehand and reported to the officer on duty before. Then she was busy getting used to ship this size and since she haven't had bridge duty, she went to inspect one of the super-heavy turrets that was giving inconsistent readings during system check. While she was not an engineer, she could at least find out if the problem was in software or not.

That was also a reason, why she was clad in the working uniform, since as soon general quarters were sounde, Atago flew to the bridge at full speed. As a main gunner, whenever alarm was sounded it was her job to get there as fast as possible.

"Ise Atago-shoi reporting for gunnery station duty ma'am," Atago reported and bowed again, this time straight to captain. The blonde neko was quite curious how Ise Momoe will handle, having her niece on the bridge. Atago herself was prepared to be as professional as possible. Well at least while they were on duty.

Not waiting, Atago flow the minuature weapon console and took her place there. The other neko who was holding the spot for Atago till now moved away. The process of bringing up the guns was already running, so Atago just took over and looked if everything was okay. She brought up Main Weapon array, all twenty-eight super-heavy turrets, torpedo launchers and point defense weaponry. The console came up and lights lit up. All except dorsal turret 6, were shining green.

"Weapon up and running skipper!" Atago reported again. "Minor strange reading in dorsal turret 6, but other than that we are all green!"

YSS Takamagahara, Bridge - Command Level

So much for this being a simple shakedown cruise... thought Hitomi as she heard the klaxons indicating 'Condition One' come to life with a modest (but definitely noticeable) wail. Now, time to get to work. "Acknowledged, Shosa. Perhaps we sh...." Noticing the doors of the Bridge's Lift open in her peripheral vision, the Taii paused - then let out a sigh of exasperation moments later as the lift's sole occupant, a Shoi by the name of Ise Atago, flew into the spacious room atop a EM-J5-1a drone. For the love of...what in the blazes are those ignorant Training Administration bakas teaching Nekos these days? I swear, back in my day, things like this would have never occurred....though at least she remembered to bow thought Hitomi, scowling as she acknowledged the aforementioned bow with a curt nod and an ice-cold glare.

Then the FARS drone spoke (its accent a source of annoyance, but tolerable) and Ise-Shoi had the gall to kick it - and report to the Shosa as if nothing had happened.

Does she even have the faintest idea of what she just did? Bloody hell, one of the first things taught in Basic is that you do not mistreat your equipment. Ever.

Facepalming, the only thing that prevented Hitomi from calling out the Shoi (who'd since made a beeline for her station) right then and there was the Takamagahara's Condition One status; because of it, all non-combat activities (including, unfortunately in Hitomi's opinion, those pertaining to discipline) were cast to the wayside. Sighing one more, the Neko turned towards Ise-Shosa and was about to resume where she'd left off when the never-to-sufficiently-be-cursed niece of the latter dropped the other proverbial shoe by announcing the presence a malfunction in the battleship's sixth dorsal turret.

Unacceptable. Simply unacceptable!

Her eyes alight with anger and frighteningly cold rage, Hitomi practically teleported over to her own console located in the center of the compartment; throwing herself into the sinfully comfortable chair, the Taii proceeded to send a rather scathing message to Miiko via telepathy.

Code:
Nitô Heisho Uehera Miiko, may I ask why you and your team have chosen to endanger the lives of your fellow crewmates by allowing a newly commissioned Sharie-class Battleship to enter combat with a defective main armament? Surely you must be aware of the consequences for "endanger[ing] other soldiers through disobedience, neglect, or intentional misconduct."

Taii Nakadai Hitomi

That done, Hitomi - a slightly calmer expression on her face - unlocked her chair and swiveled back around in the direction of the Command Level, opening several volumetric windows related to fighter deployment as she did so. This is what happens when drills aren't run beforehand. Confusion, inefficiency, disorder - all things that can easily be corrected, and all things that can kill. That turret, for example - a malfunction with it should have been detected prior to launch during any one of the IES che-wait a second.

The mahogany-haired Neko's line of thought came to a sudden halt as she noticed something while looking towards the aft of the Bridge, or to be more precise, the lack of something.

Specifically, the lack of one midnight blue-haired Information Specialist manning the IES Management Station. You have got to be kidding me.

Her fury back in full strength, Hitomi whipped the chair back around and sent another telepathic message, this time to Aki.

Code:
Jôtô Hei Amaterasu Aki, report to the Bridge immediately and assume your station. Failure to comply will be construed as "Abandon[ing]....[your]....place of duty."

Taii Nakadai Hitomi

After spending a moment wondering why so many of her shipmates were incompetent, Hitomi re-opened the volumetric windows she'd been viewing; a little over a minute later, the Taii - having ran over numerous possible deployments for the ship's Spacy Powered Armor forces and fighter squadrons in her head - began inputting orders, her fingers rapidly dancing over the keys while she did so.

Code:

As she sent off the last of the orders to the Takamagahara's vast armada of forces, Hitomi froze for a split-second as an inexplicably vivid feeling of déjà vu washed over her. W-wierd. Shaking her head as if to clear it, the Taii rotated her chair until she was facing Momoe once more. "Shosa, I've finished issuing orders to our forces and have forwarded copies of them to your terminal. Might I suggest that we should equip into our AMES suits?"

YSS Takamagahara, Engineering

Smiling down at Aki from her perch, Miiko offered a slight smile and a return message, "Thank you Amaterasu-hei. Feel free to relax-" The message was cut short as the klaxon calling for general readiness sounded.

Floating into the air above the Engineering Bay, she called down cheerfully, "Looks like we're seeing some action, girls get into your Sylphs. We don't want any issues." With a grin she floated down preparing to enter her own Sylph when she received a pleasant message from the Taii informing her that some how a brand new ship checked over by no less than three different Star Army Engineering crews had some how developed a problem in less than a day of operation. To further enhance her feeling of excitement was that the Taii had failed to mention what was non-functional, perhaps the entire ship was presently weaponless.

Pausing on her way to her Sylph Miiko's smile cracked and she found herself laughing hysterically, the message was absurd, still she wasn't going to leave it alone. Slipping into her red painted Sylph, Miiko tested the connection before calling out to the Engineering crew, "It seems we have an issue with some or all of our weapons. Hoshizora-hei, and Matou-hei you're with me, looks like we're inspecting the weapons systems again. Apparently bridge thinks we missed something. Tachibana-hei you're in charge while I'm gone, I expect you all to work twice as hard at keeping things pristine. Keep me in the loop." She paused a second in thought before adding, "Amaterasu-hei I want you to do a check over the ship's weapons systems from here with the help of the Megami. After that I want you to head up to the bridge and make sure all of the consoles are functioning perfectly. After that I want another full systems check. If anyone complains, tell them to talk to me."

Starting on her way toward the main weapon array with her assistants in tow, Miiko decided it was time to reply to the Taii politely, "Nakadai-Taii. I am taking action to ensure that all of the ships systems will be fully functional with minimal delay, and am personally on my way to triple check all of them. Everything is reporting green at our end, so I am hoping that this will be sorted out quickly... Perhaps you could inform me where the problems are?"

YSS Takamagahara, Engineering

Any shred of happiness immediately paled from Aki's face as she received Nakadai-Taii's telepathic message. Just a blank stare tinged with a bit of confusion and bewilderment. "I did something wrong?" She spoke aloud not to anyone in particular, but her voice was meek and unsure. Not intentionally did she start to zone out, wondering if there was something else she missed in all of duties. When she blinked, Uehara-Heisho was clad in her red Sylph issuing orders to the engineering team and then to her, which brought her back to full attention. "But I did everything right Uehara-Heisho..." After another moment she responded to Miiko's orders. "Hai, Uehara-Heisho..." With that, Aki took a deep breath and began running a higher tier debug and diagnostic on the Takamagahara's entire weapons systems.

Bridge

Emi was hard at work filtering the information received from the sensors when she felt the crushing sense of disappointment Aki relayed after receiving Nakadai-Taii's transmission. For the fiery haired twin, it was definitely hard to keep her disdain hidden as she felt if anything Aki was the last person to be deserving of such harsh treatment. "You have to let it go, this isn't your battle." She thought to herself as she took a moment to compose herself. "Whatever it is, Aki can take care of it, she's really quite amazing." Though she mainly thought it to herself, the second was also sent to Aki to help boost the cascading blue haired twin with reassurance. "Shosa, information received from the sensors is sparse, but there is something being emitted from the center of that asteroid field. Attempting to boost power and lock on to the target signal."

YSS Takamagahara

Shuichi-hei had packed what little she owned in her room, before doing a number of tasks she considered more than a little important to do once finding herself abaord a ship she had never been on before. The first and most important obviously, was locating the mess hall, and knowing the routes for the snack cart.

Shortly after that, the second most important thing was reporting to her squad leader. Of course this resulted in her discovering the hanger, and its disturbing lack of V8 fighters. "Nice." she said with a frown as she continued her duties, already planning on getting the attention of an officer sooner rather than later, and getting said officer to get a kawarime built for her.

YSS Takamagahara, hanger

The task of reporting to her squad leader done, she then began checking over the hayabusa assigned to her, all but ignoring the rest of her squad for a moment, who seemed to be doing similar tasks that she was, or standing around in a small circle talking and giggling. She swore she heard the word 'strawberry' thrown around at least once. Shuichi had thoughts that maybe she should be going to get a mind backup, as she thought she'd probably get wiped in a fight if she was still in a hayabusa when one happened, when the general alarm sounded. Shuichi took off her rounded sunglasses to rub her temples without an obstruction. "This is ridiculous." She should have known the highpoint of the day would be the strawberry.

Momoa leaned forward in her command chair. "Cut gun six out of the system till it's functioning properly again" she said to Atago, then; "Focus forward batteries on the source of the signal in the asteroid field. If something hostile comes out of there, I want to blast it to dust"

"Alright, keep trying to scan down whatever it is in there" Momoe replied to Emi, then to the helmswoman she said; "Slow us down, I want to keep us outside the asteroid field for now, we'll let the fighter's scout it out once they deploy"

With that order, the Takamagahara slowed almost to a stop, her big engines quieting as she all but throttled down. She was well within range to blast most of the field away with her main cannon, let alone do major damage with the rest of her long range guns.

Momoe glanced at Hitomi, "Number One, what's the status of our fighter wing and power armor infantry?" she asked the Exec.

Bridge

Atago's tiny fingers ran on the tiny console she used. She de-activated turret six and powered it down, since nekoes from engineering will be checking it out soon.

"Aye, aye ma'am," Atago reported to her aunt. "Turret six de-activated, focusing forward batteries on the signal, point-defense weaponry active."

Atago aimed the six front turrets towards the signal and did the same with main cannon, as much as the ships heading allowed. She spread the aim or other turrets to cover the flanks and aft. Atago loved this about Sharie-class battleship, it was nearly impossible to get a jump on it. There were always cannons aiming the right way.

YSS Takamagahara, Engineering

Aki was hard at work making sure she focused completely on searching for errors with the weapon system, to the point of having looked like she had completely zoned out save for a movement sporadically occurring when commands were required to be entered. Once again, just as before everything had come out fine with all the systems displayed green lights and all clear. Just as she was about to relay her findings to Miiko she noticed an error that previously hadn't been there before.
Code:
<ERROR!>

DETECTED: Weapon System Powered Down

STATUS: Dorsal Turret Six OFFLINE

ORIGIN OF COMMAND: Main Gunner Station - Ise Atago - Shoi

ERROR CODE: 003-A
"Error code 3-A... Faulty relay in the gunnery command console... If that console isn't addressed soon, who knows how bad things could get." Aki thought before removing herself from the engineering terminal. "Uehara-Heisho, Dorsal Turret Six seems to be the problem, but the bridge is reporting a faulty gunner station relay as well. I will assist the bridge and make sure we don't lose our weapon controls." She sent to Miiko before setting off from Engineering with her miniaturized tools to hopefully repair the console.

Bridge

"Ugh... why is there so much interference with the signal. I feel like I'm filtering through a haystack to find a needle. Wait! I've got it! Why didn't I think of that before?"

It was like a "Eureka!" moment for Emi, complete with the lightbulb and the over joyous celebration she shared with no one but herself in what seemed like the greatest idea ever. And with such, it drew glances from those around her that seemed to wonder what could possibly be so pleasing when they could potentially be facing combat. Piping back down, Emi wore a bit of a blush as she set forth to enact her "best idea".

The idea was actually something rather simplistic in nature. For all the exciting and powerful sensors the Takamagahara was equipped with, using them all at the same time was probably defeating the system itself. In an effort to get some sort of information about the signal and/or potential target, Emi began changing the modulation of the sensors focusing on one type at a time until all frequencies had been exhausted or she locked on.

Hitomi scowled as she received Miiko's message. That fool! She's in Engineering, yet she has the gall to ask where the problem is? Sighing for what seemed like the dozenth time in the past 5 minutes, the Taii replied to the message -

Code:
Dorsal Turret Six is offline, Nitô Heisho - something that you would have already known, were you an engineer with any degree of competency.

Taii Nakadai Hitomi

- then turned around as she heard the Shosa's query. Glancing back at her displays, the XO replied - in a far calmer voice then one would've expected given her blistering communique to Miiko - "Squadrons 1 and 2 have launched and are en route to their designated positions; Squadrons 3 and 4 are still launching. Wing 1 is in position, 2 through 4 have deployed 78%, 82%, and 94% of their respective forces." Simply unacceptable, especially given how prestigious an assignment to a Sharie-class Battleship is supposed to be. Engineers not knowing what ails the ship, sluggishly-responsive troops...back during the war, we would've been dead by now....what has happened to my Army? Where is their pride?

YSS Takamagahara, Corridors

Pausing on her way toward the main weapons array, Miiko signalled for her pair of assistant technicians to pause as she received the message from Amaterasu-Hei shortly followed by a cheerful message from Nakadai-Taii. Nodding to herself she once again directed the pair to follow in her wake as she headed toward her goal now defined as one of the dorsal turret emplacements while humming cheerfully to herself. Composing a response to her helpful computer technician Miiko responded brightly -

Code:
Thank you for the heads up~ Good luck on the bridge, and remember if anyone bothers you direct them to me.

With as much help as possible given to the quieter of the Amaterasu twins, Miiko turned her attention to closing in on the source of her woes.

Reaching the desired section of the Takamagahara's lovely maintenance passages Miiko sighed as she worked her way into the inner workings of the 'misbehaving' turret, her companions in tow.
