Carlos came to a halt, every word from Cosima slowly piercing the vale of his thoughts. He turned to look towards Cosima, still fighting his stream of consciousness until her last skittish yelp finally burst the dam. "F-forgive me, Medici-Heisho. I'm a bit-" his apology would be cut short, the bright simmer in his cheeks would seemingly fly under the radar, as he took note of the distant look on Cosima's face. He'd tilt his head in kind, an unconscious movement in a subconscious attempt to understand what had her attention. This would prove unnecessary as Cosima's porcelain visage suddenly put snow to shame. Cosima's panic, as she relayed the captain's order, brought minutes old worries to the forefront of his mind, and with them, a small spark of excitement.
A single deep breath would push these thoughts back and stoke this small ember of challenge. " I'll begin prepping medical scanners." his voice clear, with an even meter, carried by a soft determination, and punctuated by a reassuring smirk. Carlos pulled the device off of it's charging station. His hands began going over it's odds and ends in a practiced motion. He'd first replace the hypo-spray injector needle before plugging it back into the wall mount to install a fresh batch of nanobots and then have it placed on a counter near the examination bed. From here he'd go back to his pacing loop, pulling sterile gloves, antiseptics, and the likes from various containers along the rut he would one day walk into to this ship.
