RP In Dusk We Trust

As Yago drew closer to the decor shop he fancied a look behind him to see that an Elysian had taken flight away from the gas. Whether she breathed in his fear gas or not was unknown, but he did see the affected victims hurling anything they could at her in an attempt to knock her out of the sky. One child even threw their own toy animal at her which the anthro found humorous though he managed to avoid a grin. A well-aimed shot from a guard's pistol might ground her though.

At his distance he could barely make out Samantha with a few other people. There was no sense of worry since Yago knew her well enough to know that his fellow NPS agent was capable of getting herself out of almost any situation. It was really a matter of who had it easier in getting away from the crime scene.

Yago did not want to believe that he would have it more easy, as at any moment a security guard may grip his wrist and stop him for questioning. Someone may be eyeing him right now for all he knew. He tucked on his suit reminding himself that as long as he continued to act like a terrified civilian the less likely it would be for any authority figures to find him suspicious.

Several people trickled out of the decor shop and one of them raced toward the disaster zone shouting, "My daughter was in there! I gotta find her!"

Ignoring the foolish man Yago joined the small group of civilians at a brisk pace trailing just behind them, looking to get off the planet as soon as possible.

Sophie watched as the woman gave a stern look before getting into the limo. She could tell this was someone very important.

Watching the limo move away and could sense the tension of the woman in the car. She could also tell that that woman said something that Ven didn't like. She approached Ven with a little bit of nervousness and excitement, calming down from the rush of the shooting and the gas explosion that followed.

The lite breeze from earlier had rapped some hair around her left horn. She was a mess from all the running earlier and was trying to compose herself. She fought back the instinct to just run up and hug Ven just happy to see her alive was enough to make her happy. She slipped one heal back on then the other. She gave one last glance at the limo as it drove off wondering about the weird signals she got from the passenger.

Sophie felt uneasy it was her habit to look around in doing so she could see someone hiding behind a tree. They were staring at the people huddled around the limo.

"Ven? Are you all right? I know you go out on missions, but this was a little too close to home. I saw the lady in red acting up earlier. I thought she was acting rather weird. Also, someone is acting weird over my left shoulder by that tree and it’s making me nervous."

In the air
But not for long

Arria was, frankly, not surprised at the hellstorm of projectiles being thrown her way. The occasional wallet hurt, but it wasn't doing badly - and she started to climb up in altitude. Let's get out of their range. Now, where is- "Gah!" The short owl shouted as a whole purse, thrown by someone who had one hell of an arm, smacked her in the face; stumbling in flight for a moment, Arria's vision had gone blurry and now her skull ached. She was almost in the clear, out of the middle of the horde of panicked citizens when her chest suddenly felt on fire, the shock causing a scream to erupt from the airborne woman's mouth.

Cherry-red blood splattered on the frightened crowd below, driving some of them into a frenzy, believing that their faces and bodies were burning as if the birb bled acid. It was hard to breathe, and the knife in her chest had stuck - buried to the hilt, even, straight through the darkening grey panel of her uniform top. Coughing and sputtering and crying in pain, Arria Smith lost control of herself, all but diving right into the pavement, bowling over a teenager as she crash-landed and her little white form bounced and rolled for another several meters.

Barely conscious, Arria goughed out a single word: "No-" as she made an attempt to stand up - she barely got to a sitting position before she could understand through the pain that one of her legs was broken - and her left wing was drooping, shattered and useless. A terrifying roar shook her soul as several civilians moved to finish off this grounded flying beast, using limbs and handheld items and even the knife in her chest to beat, stab, and main her. If she was going to survive this, it'd take one hell of an intervention... And some luck.

Not like she'd know it; the gold-eyed girl's vision had blacked out, and her body went limp as the terrified, bloodthirsty crowd swarmed around her.

Amendment/revision to an earlier post:
Reason for a fix: The timeline was out of date and wrong for the post. This is an attempt to fix and correct the timeline from my earlier post.

Sophie couldn't hold it anymore and hugged Ven for a brief second.

"I'm just happy you're alright."

Sophie had to clear her mind. Being telepathic, she had to absorb people's emotions, running she could feel the panic from people. While running, she passed a different kind of person. This person almost had a humorous attitude about the whole thing. She had to think quickly, what direction was he going where did he go? It came to her he was heading in the direction of a decor shop.

"Ven? Are you all right? I know you go out on missions, but this was a little too close to home. I saw the lady in red acting up earlier. I thought she was acting rather weird. Also in the panic, I ran past a man with an unusual emotion of amusement. Moving away from here heading toward a decor shop. It was some time ago so I don't remember much else."

Obsidian City center. Overlooking Sanctuary Park
"Oh, hell...." Aztec saw the Elysian go down, some of the affected crowd surging toward her. While not appearing lethal, the gas was certainly some kind of nerve agent. "Any station, any station! Nomad, civilians exposed to the gas appear to be attacking each other, one in critical condition! Engaging with non lethal, requesting medical!" His voice could be heard over the open channel.
Flipping off the safety, Aztec prepared to do something he'd hated. Firing on civilians. Never mind the fact that without his help, that Elysian would most certainly die, nor that in this case, his weapon was loaded with a non lethal type of shock round, the S6-ICGR, and not it's usual 7.62 round....still, he'd found the idea of firing on civilians abhorrant, a stance that his previous nation's military found.....well, less so.
Sighting down the scope, Aztec fired, the round clearing the space between his rifle and one of the civilians attacking the Elysian, the round striking the man's back, delivering it's 50K volt charge, instantly incapacitating the man, dropping him and the knife he was wielding to the ground. Two more shots followed, two more beings joining him on the ground before the attacks appeared to stop.
Aztec hoped those were the only shots he'd need to take here. "All stations, Nomad. Gas might be a halucinogen. Any units entering the area, keep your suits sealed"

Sanctuary Park
Louis was able to just stay ahead of the gas and violence as he fled through the park stopping when he heard the shots fired. Turning back, he saw the crowd being fired upon with non-lethal rounds “Louis! Louis! What the hell is going on there?” the voice was from his producer back at the NDCB headquarters. Reaching to his ear pressing the button of his earpiece “I don’t know some kind of gas was released that’s making everyone here go berserk!” Louis answered “What about Jack? We saw him get shot through both feeds.” Louis felt his heart in his throat as he remembered what happened to Jack “I don’t know.” He said his voice shaking his producer responded with a sigh before asking “Can you get somewhere safe and get a live feed going again?” for a brief moment he was upset at what he was being asked to do but realized that someone needed to record the event for the sake of getting the truth out to the public. “I’ll see what I can do.” His voice calmer.
Looking over the perimeter of the park and spotted a good vantage point starting towards it in a jog while keeping an eye on the developing situation around him.

The crowd was utter chaos, a frenzy of madness and violent paranoia, people turning on each other with only dark fears to be seen. Each one either ran in frantic fear, some simply dropped and gave up, or their bodies did for them. Other turned on one another, or in rare occasion towards a seemingly shared invisible terror only for their eyes. People lay dying and injured, those escaping from the gas's range only hearing the aftermath, and those crying out for those they had no idea if were alive or dead among the cloud. It had only been the first five minutes, yet, it felt like a long nightmare even for those not within the gas.

The whine of TURTL APCs could be heard as several raced into the park area followed by several first responder teams. The rover like vehicles braked to a halt around the center of the park, their ramps swinging down with a hiss as soldiers in black armor with a yellow strip poured out. Across the side of the APCs were the insignia for the Biohazard Rapid Response Force, or commonly referred to as BRRF. Squads moved in with guns loaded with non-lethal rounds, directing those escaping to safety as others moved in.

Those that moved in were quick to incapacitate those of the crown that began to turn on them. The flow of the crowd seeming to change as new stimulus for their nightmarish hallucinations was provided. More and more began to focus on the arriving figures in the gas before being knocked out in number by shocking munitions. One squad detoured to Arria's position, the squad quickly taking care of those lingering like leering predators, eyeing a bird like hungry cats. Several formed a protective ring, shotguns dispatching with efficient application of their gel rounds, one of the troopers collecting the poor Elysian from her patch of blood stained grass.

The armored trooper would be gently picked up Arria, scooping the birb into a princess carry of sorts, his chest plate reading 'Demascus, V2-HAZ-03' in red print.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The cloaked figure watching unseen from his vantage, visor optics having observed everything, confirming the mission complete as well as enjoying the outcome. Vector would have to give Shenoy props later on his concoction, and Sam maybe a few pointers on her drama acting. Particularly of interest though, had been the slight confrontation with the Separa'shan, Sam, a nanny bot, and the woman known as Cerulius. Perhaps he would linger after in the underground and see if anything came of that, but for now he had more pressing matters. A thought he shelved as the stairs of the roof echoed rapid steps, his audio enhanced to pick it up as well as what went on below. Surely no one had seen, or detected him?

It must have been someone else who saw this as an appropriate vantage point, reason enough to make a quick exit. The invisible figure made a quick dash to the back of the roof before vaulting over the edge, a grapple stuck as he did before letting the cord pull and extend on the drop. Vector rappelled the last story or two, before dropping into the alley. From the shadows he'd watch for Yago, beaming a signal to the anthro with a point to point laser communications device. It was time to get the team out that was leaving.

Yago continued to run with the crowd until he recognized a certain communication device that was coming from an alley that he was just about to pass. He halted himself in front of the alley and his head darted from side to side acting like a terrified individual. His eyes stole a glance back at the park to see that several armored vehicles had arrived and troopers had deployed who were now working to suppress the aggressive and panicking crowd. Quite a shame as Yago had hoped that his masterpiece would linger on for a little while longer.

He ducked into the alley and approached the man he recognized in an instant as Vector.

"Greetings sir, I do hope our escape craft is ready," Yago said, careful not to say Vector's name in case someone was listening in as much as he doubted that possibility.

Nyx looked down at her mother, and she placed her hand on her mother’s back “mom…” She said guilt riddled her body She’d failed to protect her dad, Nyx had, she’d truly failed “We have to go, this smoke is dangerous” she said her voice quivering as grief rocked her to her core. She saw there were many affected and what was worse was her sister Adria was also affected by the gas; she had to be from her reaction. Someone will have to get Adria to safety too; she gently tried to pull her mother up as she once again tried to beat with her wings, hoping the pressure caused a breeze to keep the fog away from her mother, and to keep it away.

She saw the BRRF guys arriving with the Turtle rovers. She knew she didn't have to warn them about the gas that has hallucination capability. “Come, mommy,” She said as she tried to get her mother moving, “I need to get you to safety, and I will need to come back to get Adria once she’s cleared.

Chaotic Crowd

Arria's light body was thankfully easy to carry around, but this only made it apparent how critical of a condition she was in - one wing had been clearly broken, dangling limply in its mangled state and dragging across the blood-soaked ground as the BRRF soldier pulled her to safety. Her uniform was all but ruined by the dirt and blood, but it seemed that she'd been cut and stabbed in the torso several times, and underneath the clothing her body was bruised and bludgeoned. Without some sort of immediate assistance, she might not even make it to the hospital - but if she made it there, the regenerative properties of her body would boost her chance to recover and pull through.

Having come from a small town in the middle of nowhere, it had taken some time to adjust to the size of Obsidian City. But now, as Roland stood in Sanctuary Park amidst thousands of people, he had to admit he felt a bit overwhelmed. There was just so many people! Of so many different species, nationalities. A multi-coloured sea of physical bodies. A microcosmos of the galaxy. And he stood right next to a brilliant star of that galaxy. Nora. She was the one that had asked him to come to this gathering and all thoughts of resistance, of discomfort and whatnot where lost as soon as he saw the slight quiver of her lip as she asked him to come. So, there he stood, wearing a open denim shirt over a t-shirt, his favourite jeans, his 2nd favourite pair of boots and of course, his trusted hat. "There are so many people here, Nora. I wonder if the rest of the gang are here." He referred to their group of friends from the university. They were a ragtag bunch of misfits, but what group wasn't ragtag in college?

Roland settled as he saw Lord Jack Pine step on stage, adjusting to get a better look. He let his mind wander as their leader 'speeched' to the masses, like where to go eat afterwards and if he should buy a souvenir for Nora and Mia. The young man was torn from his musings as he heard the crack of a gunshot. Roland saw Pine go down and the shooter get apprehended. For a split second, it seemed over. Then the true nightmare began.

Roland froze in place, as he saw green gas expand from within the crowd, that thankfully didn't reach the area they were currently in. Cursing himself for not bringing a gun, he turned to Nora and said, "We need to get out of here!" Knowing that his lover was both stronger and heavier than him, he added. "I'll take Mia, and you can clear us a path."

Ven nodded to Sophie subtly. "Things will be all right, but we may have to make it so." She said darkly as she turned back towards the stadium. "Can you get me a high detail map? We don't know their extraction plans, but perhaps we can interrupt some of them."

@CMDR Scotty

Louis watched from his vantage point the TURTL APCs arrive and unload soldiers to contain the situation “Are you getting this?” Louis asked his producer “We are, zoom in on that ring of BRRF.” Following the directions, Louis zoomed in on the soldiers gathering Arria watching them get her to safety. Zooming back out to get a full view of the park Louis watched as the affected crowd uselessly attacked the BRRF. The reporter quietly hoped that the violence would be over soon.

Sophie nodded in agreement and pulled out her mother's tablet and began to use her wireless connection with it to go through the detailed plans of the city. The tablet began to display a 3-D map of the city and buildings. She highlighted the gas area and began to eliminate routes that would go through the gas. The embedded AI program begins helping her understand the terrain of the city. Based on the direction of the people fleeing she came to a route from the boutique shop as a starting point. She had three strong outcomes-based on the available data.
"Ven, we are here!" pointing to the Central District. "Under the current crisis, I am sure all spaceport travel has been suspended and the airspace above the city will be monitored at all times for incoming and outgoing vessels." The map plotted three routes away from the area. They were left, right, and middle. She pulled up the different ones in more detail "Route A takes you out the Central District it's rather open and wide, Route B takes you down a lot of back alleyways that are sparsely busy, and C puts heading toward the cities outer edge." She finally had a chance to look up and ask "Ven based on your instinct what route would you take?"

Bad Mamachamas
"More then just the craft.", was all Vector answered before stepping deeper into the side alley and reaching down to a utility maintenance hatch. Quickly typing in a code, the hatch unlocked and hissed open before Vector waved the man in after him. Dropping down through the hole into what counted as sewers in Obsidian City, he called up to his associate briefly. "Hurry, it will alert if open too long."

Once Shenoy had joined him, it would be a decent walk through the labyrinth like tunnels and maintenance ways to outside the city. Boots would lightly clunk on the metal deck, as condensation, static, and warmth radiated from every line, conduit, and reinforced superstructure pipeline. Power, water, and thermal exhaust passed through it all, and around all the city's inner workings below street level. Not that much of this could be heard without enhanced audio at the moment, as the stampede above of frightened citizens could still be heard even down here.

Sanctuary Park
BRRF forces closed in, continuing to pacify those made violent by the gas released, secondary teams arriving now to start setting up shield generators around the park. Once it was up, the spread of the gas would halt so the teams could contain and neutralize the substance. First responders in full hazop would start gathering those closest that had been knocked out, and bringing them to the waiting med vehicles for treatment. All in all, things were a nightmare of a mess, and no one would forget this day for a decent amount of time. But they were ready, and prepared to deal with situations like these, as this wasn't their first rodeo.

Louis and Aztec would have full view as these events unfolded before them, their eyes watching through lenses of a different kind in both cases. Louis able to see as the crowd dispersed, and as those afflicted began to fall silent in number. Meanwhile, Aztec would be comforted to see that the soldier carrying Arria was able to make it back to a waiting medical transport, which was quick to depart with their fragile charge to the nearest hospital. But there was still others at risk, those still on the stage, the few armed guards standing in full gear struggling.

They were doing their best to get those still on stage, away from the scene. One trooper went for Adria, others covering as Sonia dragged Adi away to safety, and as Nyx tried to usher her mother to safety. Zeke all the while, would not leave his fallen brother's side, gas mixing with his tears to irritate his eyes. A a figure in armor, his armor adorned as one of the lords, joined those closing in on the stage from the other side of the enclosing circle. If Aztec could help cover those there, the BRRF could have time to reach them.

Nora was making sure no one blocked the man carrying her child, as much as she hated shoving people aside when they blocked her, but she had bigger concerns. She very much wanted to be the one to carry Mia, but knew Roland had been right in knowing she'd be limited that way. The woman was very protective of her daughter, not wanting the same future for her that Nora had gotten herself. Perhaps she needed to give the young man more credit then she gave him often, he had stepped up in a moment of chaos.

"That was a delay I didn't enjoy S, we're going to need to watch out for both of them now. The Separa and the Fenrir woman. At least the operation was a success though, and that's what matters, because this country's future depends on it.", Seraphina said cooly with an air of a depressive mood. She was driving calmly, with no want to draw any more attention then they had already. She had to get back to the lab asap, the status on the pad next to her, only providing a small comfort on the work they'd done today.

The masked nanny bot sat still, trying to keep the act up, even in the car. "Agreed, and even if admittedly unfortunate, I'll deal with them if need be. We are so close to the end of time table, no one can be allowed to delay, or stop it any longer. This show will conclude soon, then we can answer for everything later once it's done and all has come to light.", the figure called S answered as they neared the government labs.

As Nyx tried to get her mother to safety she tried not to let her thoughts distract her as once again she lost family. First it was her Grandmother, Sarah now it was her dad and she couldn’t help but wonder why someone hated them so much that they would kill a great man. Other than Kuvexians in that one battle, and those pirates they hadn’t done anything to cause harm to other people. Whether it was because the NDC was aligned with Yamatai, she didn’t know, but there was one thing she did know, and that was if the one who killed her father was a part of a group that group better run, because she will not be stopping.

The arrival of the troopers were noted but weren’t verbally acknowledged as she tried to take her mother away from the area.

Ven took a look at Sophie's tablet, "Here, the passageways under the bridge." She pointed out, already sliding towards an aircar. She took only moments to hotwire it before pulling away and starting to race towards the bridge. "This is where things get messier and less polite. If they are escaping this way, then they'll need to go through me. You can come with me, or go home and do your computer magic." Ven pulled out one of her backup pistols and handed it over. Ven showed no fear, but as they touched Sophie could feel a very deeply buried sense of fear for Sophie, but letting the young woman choose for herself.

Yago wasted no time in following after Vector down into the sewers. He trailed after Vector through the various maintenance tunnels as the echoes of the panicking crowd drummed out above them. One could only imagine what damage could have been done if Yago utilized the entire underground network for his fear gas. It would have been a beautiful scene of chaos. Down one of the tunnels, Yago spotted a loose pipe that required only a small use of strength to break off and possess as a weapon. Although unlikely, there was a chance that some of the civilians still under the effects of his gas may have managed to escape into the sewer. He did not arrive to Obsidian City with a gun, so he made due with what he could. Now he could only hope that the two of them would not encounter any trouble as they made their escape from the scene of the crime.

Sophie could feel the worry from Ven but knew she needed to be there and help identify the person. She straightened up her back and said "You will need me to help find him. I have to feel that same person from the shop that I passed you won't know who it was. Also, does this city have a security camera gird ran by an AI program to identify faces? If I could get access to it we can see all of the individuals around me and follow their movements through the city as long as they were on camera."
She also looks at the city and said "This is an island you should monitor the waters around it for subs or boats that might be operating in an odd manner and put security at the three major seaports connected to the city. They may try to escape by sea then slip though a less monitored sector of the planets defense grid undetected"
Sophie entered the car's passenger seat preparing for the journey ahead.

Ven gave a terse nod, "Except for the underbelly, the city is big brother's dreamland. Makes it harder to operate in. Where we're going, there aren't any cameras. Let the locals take care of what they can see, we take care of the rest." Ven explained as the car careened around corners and towards the bridge off the island. Ven didn't think it was a good idea to tell them where she was going. If she was right about this partially being an inside job, she needed as much evidence as possible and warning the conspirators about where she was going to be blocking them wasn't her style.

The car sped to a stop at the far end of the bridge. Ven exited the car, and headed for an entrance to the maintenance tunnel under the bridge. It was a jumble of pipes and electrical everywhere. Ven pointed to a corner that would provide good cover and a line of fire down the tunnel. "Hide there, I'd like to take whoever comes this way alive." Then she disappeared into the gap between two large pipes, hiding in the shadows above the tunnel.
