Suggestion Medical Safety Bulletin thread

The Star Army of Yamatai has in its ranks a variety of species from dozens of worlds. Star Army medical personnel have a rough job, keeping the many species safe, healthy, and happy.

Not all of them respond well to the same treatments, and, as such, periodic medical safety bulletins would be a necessary way to highlight the dos and dont's of various species. From why you don't room Separa with snowy Nekos to why you don't give Kodians Nepleslian combat stims or treat a Senti stomach ache with Pepto bismol.

These would read like safety briefings, not mentioning where or when the incident happened, but would provide an amusing and realistic insight on the diversity of the Star Army and the headaches and growing pains that come with it, plus expanding on species articles and other such shenannigans.

What do you guys think?

I think that this goes a bit beyond a medical safety bulletin.

I think a medical SOP should be submitted by the creator of the player species when or shortly after joining the Star Army. (Note all that you mentioned above are playable species except the Senti due to their lack of CCG)

It should include things like:

  • Compatible with ST: Yes or No
  • Medicine Already in existence (Who makes it, how can the Star Army acquire it/synthesize it themselves):
  • Common Diseases and Ailments:
  • Environmental Concerns:

I like the idea, although I'm not sure if you are proposing a new wiki-page type thing or a new RP type thing (which we could do already?)

I agree with @Andrew's take on this. Species pages should list any deviations from standard medical practices on the wiki, which used to be the normal procedure (pre-NH33A Neko, for example, can't get implanted bionics). Additionally, it helps to avoid odd in-character situations getting sprung on medic/doctor players who would know the needs of their assigned patients. It's never a feel good moment to roleplay an expert and have another player blindside you with some esoteric knowledge that isn't on the wiki.

Good points to all, and for @Soban I was initially thinking of doing an in character board akin to USAWTF. I'll get to it.

Also reminds me I need to work on the Senti drugs and toxicology page.

And for @Andrew The CCG for Senti is on the main page and they are classified as playable when last I checked.
It would be a good idea to make a separate CCG. It really should be a separate thing from the species article.

Will do. I do notice your approval stamp on them, so I was a bit confused.
I recall accepting the species, not the CCG, but I may have overlooked it. Just trying to call for some uniformity, the rest of the species have CCGs that are separate.

@HarperMadi are you willing to make that thread? It could go in Yamatai government if it's for the Star Army or YSE and in the Transmissions & Communications forum if it's for all factions.
