A day in the city

Nevaraon loaded his second to last magazine (or clip?) into his pistol and yelled to the newcomer "Up Here!" He then started firing into the rapidly increasing zombie crowd.

Amelia's eyes darted up to the fire escape ladder. Despite the covering fire which she was recieving (Which was getting a little too close for comfort in all honesty) She still had one barring her way. She dropped down as it approached and sweeped her leg, taking out the zombies legs from under it. She then took the opportunity to place a bullet in it's head.

Right, back the fire escape. She holstered her pistol and took a crouching jump to grab the overhanging ladder. She grabbed about the fourth rung and winced a bit as her chest smashed against a lower bar. She shook it off and climbed up enough to get a foot into the bottom rung. From there she made it all the way to the top.

Once topside she moved off to the side in case there was anyone else that wanted to climb. She held her chest for a brief moment till the pain subsided. After a couple more coughs, she shook herself mentally and checked her remaining ammo. She had about six shots left in her current clip plus another full ten in her second clip. She looked around at the players topside. She recognized none of them and figured they were newcomers. Unfortunately she couldn't think of how to greet them for the life of her.

"I guess you picked the right place to show up, newbie." Noboru said, ejecting the magazine on his pistol and slamming his second (and last) magazine home.

Amelia stared at Noboru with one of those 'are you for real?' looks. "That's amusing coming from you." She shook her head. Why did these people always assume people they hadn't seen before are new? It was definitely more noticable in certain kinds of players...

Her eyes shifted to the others on the rooftop. "Hm, interesting. Usually don't see too many groups any bigger than three. Anything larger tends to get screwed over by the game targeting them." She didn't recognize any of them, but then again, she didn't frequent this area very often.

Nevaraon winked at the newcomer, "What can I say? We just like the challenge." He glanced over the edge to check up on the zombies.

Yoroko had sat down after Amelia had gotten to the roof. "This certainly is exhausing." Yoroko said as she looked over to Yuzu, "How do you like it so far, pretty fun eh?" Yoroko asked the Hei.

---------------------

Neveron would be in for a surprise when he looked down at the ladder. The zombies hadn't evidently lost all of their intelligence as they were climing the ladder to get to the roof. When the ladders were too far to reach, the would climb over eachother creating a makeshift stairway until they could reach the ladder in question. Slowly but surely they were gaining altitude. Others could be seen milling through the doors at the ground floor, most likely looking for stairs to the top.

Just as the first one reached for the ladder, the zombies at the bottom of the make-shift staircase fell apart, becoming a slippery mass of chunked body parts. The zombie at the top managed to grab the bottom rung and slowly began making his way up the ladder with one or two zombies hanging on to his legs as the other zombies tumbled to the ground when their disassembled comrades could no longer could hold them up.

Nelew flicked the wire she held, sending a vibration down it that caused it to coil itself in her hand. Telephone cable was more useful than most players gave it credit for both in close and ranged combat if one knew how to use it. Problem was, not many did. Nel had stripped a length of the heavy cable from a downed telephone pole and made a useful garrote line whip out of individual strands, strengthening them a little until she could slice with a strong flick. The gun the game had given her at the start was in a pocket, the clips out and stored in separate pockets, in case she needed to give someone a weapon.

She looked out at the zombies from where she stood in between the building and the next one. The survivors were trading banter...it might be a while before they came down. Players were usually like that, staying to the high ground and holding a position. Unless there were any gung-ho action heroes among them...and those somehow always found the shotguns or chainsaws. It was crazy how those people seemed to find those weapons, as if drawn toward them. Maybe she should join them? Give them a fright?

((OOC: Okay, I've got one taker...anyone else?))

Denkou, running at full speed, jumped. He'd been doing this for almost an our now, having immediately gone up to the rooftops when it started, and roof jumping since then. Hearing shots, he immediately lowered the .22 he'd found earlier, and sighted in on the group with the scope. Join them, or watch them die? Decisions, decisions.

(I've got no problem with PVPing.)

Nevaraon glanced around looking for another way than going through the zombie hoard. He had just one shot left and that wasn't going to give him anymore help than a woop in the afterverse. "We need to find more ammo. Any ideas guys?"

In a split second decision, Denkou made his choice, firing off 3 quick shots, head-shotting the zombies nearest the ladder. For now at least, he would fight with them, or at least provide support.

A muffled gun shot is heard from accross the rooftop, followed by a few more.

Suddenly, the door providing access to the rooftop from within the building bursts open as a tall man in a simple garb of urban fatigue pants, black boots and a shirt barrels into view. Holding a shotgun in one hand, he lunges at the door and slams it shut.

He spies the group near the edge of the roof.

"Someone help me barricade this door!", he shouts.

Yuzuki flipped around, leveling her pistol at the man who had come through the door, then lowered it. Immediately, she jumped up, looked around, grabbed a nearby pipe, /broke it off/, and tossed the bar to the man.

"Secure it," she said. Yea, the sprite was giving orders. This was kind of absurd for her and there was a really strong sense rising up within her that informed her this was not her place but it was a game, right? And her orange panels were hidden behind the facade of what appeared to be a peacekeeper, so nobody knew or cared. Not to mention she was, for once, really getting into it, and for some reason she remembered squad tactics just at the moment. Might as well pretend. "You, and you-" she nodded to Nevaraon and Noboru, "Up against the door. Mizuno-Hei?"

Yuzuki exchanged a glance with Yoroko and felt her confidence draining slightly. Yoroko was the only one here who knew that Yuzuki wasn't even a month old.

"You're on lookout, please. Anything that looks even vaguely like a weapons depot, police station, or a likely place for a stand. The rest of you, set up a permiter, cover the fire escape, and prepare to move once we know where we're going."

"So let me get this straight." Noboru said, stepping towards the sprite. "You want me to stand in front of the door with zombies grabbing at my head, push against it and hope it doesn't get breached?"

He cast a mock-withering look at Yuzu, then: "Alright."

Yuzu looked at the guy.

Yuzu looked to the door. She examined the door. She took the door in. It was a fairly solid door. Weatherproofed. It opened outward. It had a little window in it but it didn't look all that big from where she was standing.

Then, Yuzu looked back at the guy. She shrank a little.

"It won't open if you're pressed against it?" she offered, speculatively.

Catching the pipe with one hand, he man quickly placed it over the door and wedged it between some jutting metal on each side.

"Alright.." he said to himself as he stepped back the assess the situation.

He turned his attention to the angry gurgling sounds coming from around him and ran to the edge of the rooftop; then to the adjacent side. Muttering under his breath he turned back to the group and glanced over each of them.

"It's official," he said, "we're surrounded."

As the group chattered between themselves, he surveyed the surrounding rooftops for any possible escape routes. He paused and titled his head curiously at a glimmer in the distance. Suddenly his eyes went wide.

"There!" he shouted as he pointed accross the way, "There's someone on that rooftop!"

The sun had reflected off of the scope from Denkou's rifle. The man turned towards the group as he pulled two shells from his pocket. He thrust them into the barrel of his shotgun and pumped it.

"That's where we have to go." he said.

Denkou quickly fired two shots. The first was a headshot on a zombie who had gotten almost all of the way up in their moment of distraction, the second would seem to be an attempt to kill the new guy, but upon further inspection would reveal that it had actually wedged the door shut by pounding the upper corner into the concrete behind it.

"Well the door opens outward, so if you wanted us against it what point would there be in leaning against it unless we all stood there yanking on the doorknob? We should just find some rope or cloth or something, tie it down to something secure on the floor or wall, and run like Hell when it gets breached." Noboru stated, looking out the door window.

Yuzu pointed. This was a little embarassing.

"Anou, you see," she started sort of calmly, trying to explain, "They are pushing on it, in order to open it. So it opens out, to us, and if you press your shoulder against the door, you're bigger then I am so..."

Yuzu trailed off, bowed slightly, and said, "I'm sorry."

This was more reflexive, and happened in spite of the fact they were all surrounded by zombies and there were more important things to hand.

"..." Noboru scratched his head, behind the band of his goggles, before answering. "Outside the game. You're a sprite, aren't you?"

He shook his head. "Never mind that. Gather up all of the sheets, rope, anything that can be tied into a knot, that you can find in the house and bring it back here."
